Chef Jason Paskewitz & Ryan O'Donnell, owners of neighborhood favorite Gemini Bistro, bring you an intimate, elegant dining experience with their newest restaurant Rustic House. Nightly specials off of the French rotisserie and grilled meats from the wood-burning grill are featured on Paskewitz's American menu. The warm, comfortable interior features reclaimed barn wood, burlap wall treatments, original art and a brick fireplace. "One of our Lincoln Park favorites, Rustic House has never disappointed us. The food is excellent and the service is friendly and efficient. I gravitate toward the NY Strip Steak and it is among the best I've ever had. The Swordfish Chop, when available is equally good. A small, but moderately priced wine list with a handful of really nice wines."

"Was looking for a quaint, but not overly romantic spot with good food. The food was outstanding... started with the tuna tartare appetizer special... delicious! I had the scallops.. perfectly cooked with a lovely reduction. My date had the duck. He very much enjoyed it, I had a bite and it was cooked the way duck should be served. We enjoyed the ambiance and the service. I will be back."

"One of our "Go To" restaurants in Chicago. Always consistent in every way for terrific Anerican Regional cuisine. Swordfish chop is outstanding and an unusual offering on Chicago menus, while not a steakhouse their NY strip ranks among the best in a city where the steakhouse is king. Had the rack of lamb accompanied by an arugula salad and creamed corn brûlée on Saturday evening - great meal. Several rotisserie offerings everyday, adequate wine list, god selection of scotch and bourbons. We often take out of town guests for a taste of neighborhood Chcago - they're always impressed and pleased. Hadn't been in awhile and left asking myself why... High marks on our list!"

"This is the second time I've been to Rustic House, and it was terrific both times. Had the rotisserie pork this time, and it was as good as the chicken last time. The grilled octopus was outstanding again, and the wine carafes are such a good idea for trying out new wines. Would highly recommend this place."

"Be prepared to valet park. Area is very congested but worth the effort. The front door is almost dangerous so careful with elderly or infirmed. That said the food, service friendliness were just great. Went because of Chef week and the price fixe meal options were great. While the had two options per category this enabled us to order one of each and swap tastes. Just great. Steak although not cooked as requested, my friend wanted med-well and got med-rare, was tasty to the max. Mt friend didn't even want to send it back it was that good. I had the fish and while just a tad over done, was as tasty as could be. The apple tart at the end with ice cream was just lovely. Can't comment about the wines because we are beer drinkers but th"

"The host and server were very nice; unfortunately, the food was disappointing. The lobster bisque was thin and not very flavorful; the César salad was not very flavorful and looked like it was a day old. The steak with peppercorns and potatoes were overly seasoned... the pasta with veal cheeks was overly seasoned... if the dish has so much pepper or garlic that it numbs your tongue so you can no longer taste the wine, that's a problem. The apple tart was fine. Given the great reviews, we were looking forward to the dinner; but we very disappointed; maybe it was an off night?"

"We cannot say enough great things about Rustic House. This was our second time there and just confirmed how much we love this neighborhood gem. The ambiance was wonderful, we sat in the back room which was definitely quieter and less crowded. The food was outstanding, my husband had the pork and i had the swordfish. Each dish was fantastic and we can't wait to come back. The service was also wonderful. Our waiter was knowledgeable about food and wine and we ended up with perfect pairings. We will definitely be back soon!"

"Really wanted to like it more. Our party ordered the duck, mahimahi and prime rib. Salads were good, not outstanding. Duck was delicious. Prime rib was good. Mahi mahi was meh...probably would have sent it back but we had theater tickest and service was very slow. Our mahi mahi (2 of us ordered it on waitress ecommendation) had barely any veggies on the plate (menu stated to have roasted veggies) and so meal was totally bland and boring. Service was slow."

"It seems like all of the new restaurants are popping up in Bucktown/Wicker Park or River North. It's SO nice to see a new restaurant in Lincoln Park. "While the experience was good, it was not great. It was very noisy, and was vey difficult to have a sort of personal conversation with the table. On top of that, the host staff did not seem to be a be-able to direct or corral the arriving gusts so it felt like they were constantly hanging over our shoulder. The staff was extremely nice, but it didn't make up for the just mediocre (over seasoned and sometimes over cooked) food."

"My wife and I had a very enjoyable experience at Rustic House. We really liked the laid back, relaxed atmosphere. It was warm and lively.The staff was very good too. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable. Our food was terrific. I had PEI mussels, which were delicious, and the scallops for my entree. There was a great balance of flavors and the food paired well with our wine. The corn brulee was incredible too. In fact, it was such a delicate, sweet side dish that I didn't need dessert! We will definitely return to Rustic House."

"This was our second visit to Rustic House & we went on Valentine's Day. We were seated on time (8pm res)with a long stem rose, which was sweet. The service compared to our first visit was a bit slower, BUT considering that it was VDay, we didn't mind. It allowed us to really have a nice leisurely dinner. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed - we had to remind him about the salad & the bottle of red was almost hot. We ordered an ice bucket & it quickly chilled to a better temp. The food was just as incredible as we experienced the first time & I was pleased they did not force a prix-fixe menu. We had the grilled octopus, spinach salad (split - they are large), veal chop, pork chop & brussel sprouts. Delicious!"

"This small restaurant stays true to its name from the rustic decor to the rustic dishes. Though small in size, Rustic House provides an energetic yet sophisticated atmosphere that makes it good for both dates and smaller groups. We tried the pre-fix menu, but would definitely return for some other dishes. I adored the wood grilled octopus appetizer and the Blondie brownie we had for dessert. The wine list, each chosen carefully by the bartender, was quite phenomenal and there are many great cocktails as well. I have to mention that the staff was outstanding, all of them very personable and enthusiastic."

"I've walked by this place 100 times, and finally stopped in for restaurant week. So sorry I hadn't eaten here sooner!
This place is a gem. The decor is lovely --so was the food. Our party of 4 ordered a number of different dishes and sampled them all--including the octopus appetizer, the spinach salad, the roast chicken, the cured salmon , the pork chop, and the duck.
They were all perfectly prepared and delicious. I must say the pork chop was the clear winner of the night.. tender, juicy and delicious..and I don't even really like pork!
For side dishes, the corn brulee was excellent--a custardy corn pudding that borders on savory and sweet with a crisp brûlée top, The brussels sprouts were also fantastic. We will back."

"I love this place. It was our second time. We requested a table by the fire and they very kindly organized this. The food is excellent and you can be healthy or indulgent which is great. The service is always super helpful, friendly and unpretentious. So few restaurants seem to get the temperature and the noise just right, but Rustic House does. A real gem of a restaurant. Thank you."
