Tiburon Tavern is on a mission to support our community located in the beautiful seaside town of Tiburon. Our menu showcases simple, delicious cuisine; using the finest, fresh, seasonal ingredients many of which are grown by local farmers. We are also featuring Marin County's first Napa Technology Wine station in which we serve exclusive local vintages. From our outstanding patio seating, fireside dining and lively bar atmosphere Tiburon Tavern is the place to be for comfortable surroundings, exceptional value and genuine hospitality.
"It is a shame when one poor server overshadows the fabulous food that the chef has prepared and presented. However, the finished, empty plates should not sit for 15 minutes while nary a server is in sight! This happened on every course. We could see the waiter in the distance, not busy, so we know it was inattention rather than another reason. We would go back but be pushy about the service level next time."

"We went because the Restaurant offered 50% discount coupons Online. However when our Server came to the table, (with a trainee), he immediately tried a 'bait and switch" technique to increase the size of the bill. A dessert was offered with the Online Coupon, but it was inedible. We ordered the Short Ribs, and they were decent, (one tiny short rib), but the mashed potato had absolutely no flavor. I would not recommend this place to anyone that cared what they were eating."

"TIburon an expensive area, I expected better restaurant than this. Living social ought not to advertise this as its not worthed. There was not a lot of food choices. Besides parking is scare, the restaurant is located below the motle/lodge which is not ideal. A good tip is earned by excellent service, however they automatically charge it in your bill. This is understandable for bigger groups but not for two person. I hope their waiter is mor eattentive, customer oriented, and non-discriminating, Manager needs more customer service trining on how to deal with professional customer. Anyhow, this will be my first and last going to T. Tavern. I thought I would recommend this place to my friends but I guess not."

"We were so disappointed. The restaurant has had many iterations over the years that never quite stepped up to the mark and take their place in Marin. I had read about this chef and thought "okay, give it another shot and see how it has changed?" I bought a Living Social coupon and to be honest I did not feel like it came close to meeting the value of the coupon, let alone full pricing. The lighting is dark and the decor out of I don't know what. Spend more elsewhere and be satisfied."

"I was offered an outdoor table with no umbrella to serve three. When I said "No, thank you," and that I needed umbrella at my table, the hostess said it would be about 10 minutes. I came back to find that the only umbrella table available turned into service for eight. We ended up eating indoors."

"With every other place in the area celebrating Mother's Day, it's almost like this place went out of their way to ignore the day. Our server was fine at best. My husband ordered coffee with cream and sugar, and the cream came in a large plastic solo cup. Apparently she couldn't find something (even a shot glass!) for a better presentation. I had the breakfast burrito at her suggestion. It had so many hashbrowns in it I could barely eat it. Very little eggs. My husband's eggs benedict was smaller than the children's mac and cheese! To top it off, the server brought ME the bill. She couldn't have waited for my husband to return from the men's room? We all had to ask for drink refills each time. That's basic "waitress 101," right?"

"The table was great outside but the service was very slow. Water ran out on the plate when I first cut into the Tiburon eggs benedict. The green sauce on top did not look appetizing at all but did taste somewhat better than it looked. Drinks were slow arriving and we were given two different menus (after setting our eyes on the French Toast with peaches we were told they were served with Asian pears instead). We had both menus at our table. We decided we would definitely not return for brunch."

"We spent the night at the hotel and made reservations to try the Tavern. Our flight was late and we arrived late for our reservation but it was no problem for the staff! They sat us in a spot outside but still under the patio..with heaters but it was a bit warm. We asked if a table farther outside was available and the made it happen! Our server was excellent. We both ordered the Grilled Cheese and it was perfect. We both really enjoyed them. My husband also ordered a side of the Mac and Cheese (one of his favorite comfort foods). It was delicious! We had a great meal in beautiful weather! We were just sad that it closed so early because it could really be a wonderful night spot! We would go back again!"

"Early dinner, great outdoor seating, beautiful day. Ordered sliders and tacos off the Happy Hour menu. The food was cold but we didn't say anything because the service was so slow. Took forever to get a drink to begin with (the restaurant was not busy at that time). When we asked for the check, it took over 20 minutes. Really?!?"

"Food was not great. The toast were burnt, and actually served together with the mussels. Their signature soup was not great either. We ordered the sea trout entree. It was just a piece of sea trout, with a few clams and 3 halves of mini potato. I think they could definitely do better for an entree presentation!
The service was rather slow. However, I was 45 minutes late for my reservation, and they still honored it to me, which was nice. But, the tavern was not overly crowded anyways."

"Great service, our waiter was friendly and witty. Our Living Social coupon was honored immediately, and they customized actual Living Social menus for our dining convenience. This process expedited our selections, and the evening ended memorably. The bottle of Merlot was an extremely nice touch, as we almost brought our own bottle from home. I've dined here before and love the ambiance!"

"Other than the food was a bit salty, the braised shortribs were amazingly tender and flavorful. Recommend asking for less salt on preparation. The waiter and table crew all had very friendly personalities. We felt very comfortable. We arrived early and sat outside on a beautiful sunny day, for happy hour. We had lovely wine and appetizers. All in all, I would recommend."

"There was a special menu for customers with a Travel Zoo coupon. I had the fish tacos and my date had the meat loaf. Too bad these dishes are not on the regular menu. They were delicious! The waiter said the fish tacos is available on the Happy Hour menu but in appetizer size. I recommend that the items on the coupon menu also be part of the regular menu."

"The food was fine. The lettuce on my salad had some brown on it which I removed and had piled on the extra plate I was given. Yet the dressing and bacon on the salad was good. But really don't put brown lettuce on a plate. The fish tacos were tasty but I waited an hr for them, unless they were catching the fish right at the moment that's ridiculous. I was starving by the time I got the food. I had to ask about my drink to see where it was. Things were slow and I was hungry. I think that if your going to do something then do it well or don't do it at all. I would not go back or recommended it."

"The food was mostly forgettable except for the butterscotch pudding which was inedible and the accompanying cookie which was so salty that I had to spit it out. They had one server for the entire patio. She was stretched so thin that people were going to the bar to get their own drinks and flagging down busboys to ask for the check. It is a shame because the patio is comfortable and inviting. Perhaps it would be alright to stop in for a glass of wine...if you don't mind getting it yourself."

"We had a Living Social voucher for a prix-fixe menu which included a bottle of their low-end BV house wine. But we did scan the menu briefly to check out the changes and general prices. Our food was very good and the options were nice; it included a vegetarian option. Our primary complaint was about the service. It took a while for us to get anyone to come to our table after we were seated. They got one of our salad orders wrong and the service was a bit slow. But everyone was friendly and apologetic. No major mistakes. Our voucher indicated that tax and gratuity were not included but they didn't charge us anyway. We will probably go back."

"Service is just not good. You have to practically tackle your server to get attention. Once you get attention, things improve. This has been a problem there since they opened, once you get seated it can take 10 or 15 minutes before you get anyone coming around to take a drink order."

"Called twice to make a reservations with no return call. Had to make our reservation via internet. Soup was very good however every other food selections (not many since we had a discount voucher) was fair at best (especially the butterscotch pudding). We had to ask for bread (which was eventually provided). The main problem with our experience was with our perception that we would get a lot more value for the discounted voucher we purchased. Overall, the service was very good after getting over the fact that they never returned our call. The main complaint about the food was how skimpy the menu selections were and the only meat entree for our discounted voucher was meat loaf."

"Myself an my boyfriend got a deal to eat here, so clearly it wasn't the best food they had on offer. The staff were amazing, really attentive and accommodating. The mains and desert were both lovely, but the starter (a chop salad) looked like there was zero effort put into the preparation. It was a very disappointing start to the night, but, thanks to the staff, it got a lot better."

"We went on a TravelZoo voucher that gave us a $93 dinner for $49.Should have read the fine print. You get a limited "TravelZoo" menu. The TZ entrees were fish tacos, meatloaf or a vegetable pasta. Eh. The good entrees are on their regular menu, a $5 up charge. So...we got an wedge salad, potato leek soup(leek was intense),added a happy-hour-priced $6 for two very dry beef sliders-no condiments. We went off the menu for $5 per entree and got the roasted chicken and skirt steak, both pretty good, although the beef was somewhat cold. The meal came with a bottle of wine and desert, butterscotch pudding. The bill came to $71, not $93, even with our upcharges. Bottom line, average place, the Travelzoo deal is no big deal."

"While the food was acceptable, the service was a problem. The server was fine, but they didn't have enough other help to bus the tables. We sat for some time with empty plates. Also, had to ask for the check. Took over two hours to eat dinner. And then they didn't check us in for Open Table. Won't go back."

"Cute restaurant/bar in downtown Tiburon, a place sorely lacking in culture or activity. I think that's changing with how the new people at Tiburon Lodge and Tavern are running the place. We went on a busy night, lately it's often busy. The bar scene is great, the outdoor seating is comfy and really warm (plus the added benefit of not being in the chaos of Sam's). It ends up sort of a hidden gem to the SF weekenders popping over on the ferry, but you get a nice mix of hotel guests, locals, tourists, wedding people, etc at the bar.... I love hotel bars because it's not about the place so much as the people. Not to say it isn't beautiful - it's a very California Lodge restaurant type feel. Great place. Food is better than ever, too."

"We went with a Living Social voucher (2 meals for $49) - the food was ok, but nothing to get excited about. I would not have wanted to pay full price for what we got, though. The service was pretty slow - we'd ordinarily appreciate not being rushed, but with 2 young kids we wanted to move a little faster.
There is a great patio with heat lamps that looked quite nice. Even though it's facing a busy street, seems like a nice place to grab lunch or a drink."

"The best part of our time at the Tiburon Tavern was having a drink at the bar. The bartender was very nice & helpful. Unfortunately once we were seated in the dining room things changed because there was a man drilling a hole in the wall right on the other side of the wall we were sitting next to. We mentioned it to the waiter and it took a while before the noise stopped. The other problem seemed to be that the kitchen must have been very busy that night and the food was very slow coming out. We never got the bread we asked for, but at that point just gave up. I think overall it is a nice restaurant with good ambiance. My husband really enjoyed the lamb dish he had and the grilled caesar was very good & original. Pasta just okay."

"service very slow for a 7:00 reservation--took an hour before food arrived. Had to ask for bread when it wasn't brought. Fish was tasty but partly burned. Portions most definitely on the small side. Could not even get the bill quickly. Honestly, don't know what all the fuss is about this restaurant. Maybe it's one of the finer ones in the area but that's not saying much when there are so many San Francisco restaurants which are far, far superior to this one."

"Neither kids got fruit salad w/kids meals; son got about 1cup pasta only--both hungry afterwards while elsewhere they always had leftovers. Food was SLOW, but got rude response when inquiring about. The kids got their meal first before our appetizers (salad and soup) came. The kids were able to finish their meal and then we were still waiting for our salad and soup! 20 minutes later, our salad finally came but the timing was awful as our kids were still hungry and couldn't sit still."

"we had one of the best meals in recent memory at the Tavern! the food was absolutely delicous, and the menu offered a few quirky items (deviled egg for first course) that were great! the service was outstanding. our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu, offering suggestions that fit our tastes, very friendly and highly professional. casual resturant that is very cozy; can be romantic with the the right person, but, fits for family and friends. menu choices are a bit limited, but, enough variety to satisfy a variety of tastes. we will definately make a special trip to return for a special occassion!"

"Used a voucher from Living Social and there were only 3 choices for the entree. But it was still a very good buy and the services was best I have experienced in a very long time. We brought our two small children with us and our server thought of every detail imaginable to make our experience more enjoyble. For example, he took the kids order first and brought their food out right away (he even waited to bring out their side of fruit until after they ate their meal!). Amazing! Food was very good too!"
