"Went to Benchmark restaurant for the first time this past weekend. Everything about the place was outstanding. Food was amazing. My wife and I did the table d'hote with wine pairings, and will definitely do it again. Only reason service got 4 stars was due to us being seated, followed by another group being seated about 2 minutes after us, yet the other group got their order taken first. Thankfully, that was the only service blunder of the evening and the wait staff was friendly and polite and every course came out quickly after the previous.
Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting find dining at reasonable prices!"

"Although somewhat of a teaching venue, there should be a faculty /supervisor on duty to oversee the staff. Poor table setting, long wait between courses. 2 1/2 hr dinner for four! Food was creative and well presented, most plates lacked proper seasoning. Homemade pasta dish was made with corn meal that left an awfull texture in the mouth. Dessert menu lacked creativity, just the basic 1990's cheesse cake , carrot cake, & fresh fruit and a few other. Coffee took for ever and was tepid.

"The College is doing a great job! Food was well prepared and presented! Service was a bit slow, but very professional and very friendly wait staff. Nice decor but the room is quite large and very high ceiling so does tend to be a bit noisy when full! We will definitely return!"

"I have been trying to eat here for 3 years and I finally made it. The food was delicious and a great value. I ordered the three course tasting menu and was not disappointed. My companion choose the smoked chicken panini and loved it. My first course came and I felt somewhat uncomfortable chowing down while my friend had to watch me with envy. A small token of bread would have been greatly appreciated or having the side dish (soup in this case) delivered at the same time as my food would have been nice. But other than that it was a real treat."

"This is a unique place, a college teaching facility with a restaurant, winery and brewery. Very good food at very reasonable prices. The wines produced at the college were excellent and only $5 or $6 per glass. We really enjoyed the Chardonnay. Students are servers and do a very good job. The restaurant is attached to a substantial greenhouse which probably is the source of the greens served with the meal."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The wait staff are attentive, the ambience is beautiful and the menu offers something for everyone. I'm vegetarian and I had menu options to choose from. Additionally, the waiter offered to alter some of the other dishes to make them suitable for me which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a lovely evening and we look forward to coming back."

"A very impressive restaurant - and not simply because run by the students. The food is outstanding. I had pan seared halibut; the best halibut I have ever tasted - cooked simply and not overly flavoured by herbs which let the sweetness of the fish come through The list is notable in that it is well priced and restricted to local well made wines. The space is elegant but a trifle "cold".The staff is enthusiastic and well trained."

"We did the Prix Fixe menu, with wine tasting. The food was absolutely fabulous - every course was beautifully presented and top notch taste. "Salad and main course were fabulous - my compliments to the chef and the menu selections!!! We had the special and thoroughly enjoyed its aesthetic presentation and the wonderful flavours. Unfortunatley, my dessert was out of the frig and I don't like cold desserts unless it is an ice cream. Nice touch to serve a glass of wine with the dessert choice!
I know our server was a student - but - she came with main course before I was finished my salad and I was rushed to finish so that she had a place to put my plate on the table. She spilled the red wine and gave uneven portions, and she also visited our table a bit too promptly.

Benchmark is built into Niagara College, and integrates students into all of its restaurant operations, whether front of house service covered by hospitality students, culinary apprentices cooking the meals, brewery and winery students bottling up amazing beer and wine. "Great restaurant to try in the Niagara region. The food was fantastic, char was perfectly cooked and the pork chop was excellent, they serve very large portions. We went on a Wednesday so there were very few guests so can't really comment on the noise level."

"We loved everything about our dinner! .... the food was exceptional, the service was attentive, our 3 course meal was well paced, the atmosphere was really nice. We really enjoyed watching the food prep at the counter and thought the tea lights in the windows were really pretty. Our only suggestion was that the dining room was cold. I wore my coat for most of my meal. (Perhaps in part because I was sitting right in front of a window and next to the door.)"

"Food took forever to come, they brought a wrong sandwich, which I could partially eat, for the bread was too dry and the meat rubbery. To get simple requests such as bread at the table etc was like pulling teeth.
