"It was a real treat for my 4 year old daughter named Gracie to take me to "her" restaurant. I was completely charmed by her gesture, as well as the atmosphere and the valet parking. The food was OK for a buffet, can't say I was impressed or had anything worth highlighting... fairly standard. Did not even have the option to order off the menu without also purchasing the buffet, I would think it would be a perfect had the price ($40 per person and $20 for children not including coffee/tea/milk) been a little more evenly matched with what was offered (pastries, omelette bar, fruit tray, and sliced meats) I would have been more impressed; however, my 4 year old really worked hard to earn the money she paid for her mama's brunch."

"I took my wife out for a Mother's Day dinner at Gracie's and although I would consider it a little more formal we brought our 11 month old baby with us. He was messy and a little loud but everyone was very gracious. I really enjoyed our food and I would recommend it to any couple or small group. It was exceptional!"

"Many place has small plates, though Gracie's has them priced correctly, so you really can try many items and not overspend. My spouse had a simple salad, and I had a sausage lentil soup. The soup was particularly good. My spouse loves the trout almondine, which is consistently great. I had the halibut with snap peas, which was beautifully presented and the risotto, which was very good. We finished with three scoops of "Scoop" ice cream, which is always delicious."

"My biggest complaint about Gracie's is that it was hard to decide what to order. Everything looked so good. I ended up getting the tricolor quinoa, asparagus and the scallops. I was pretty full, and it would have been better if I'd had a dining companion to share with. The scallops were tender and cooked perfectly. The food was simple and not overly seasoned. No heavy sauces, just the flavor of the food coming out. The atmosphere was great. High ceilings and ornate chandeliers. Formal and classy without seeming stuffy. I will definitely return here."

"This restaurant is a quality throw-back to a time of elegance. Music was delightful and just a hint in the background. Perfect volume level. Our server, Terry, was excellent. Dishes were well prepared and a good portion without being 'super sized'. Coffee was plentiful. We were there for brunch and there were many choices for any palate. This is a hidden gem and was perfect for celebrating Mother's Day."

"Portland has a large variety of great restaurants with good food. Gracies is no exception with farm to table choices and a good wine list. What separates Gracies is the atmosphere of the place. Set in a 101 year old hotel, everything speaks of another era. Very high ceilings, unique architectural ornamentation, a staff waiting in the wings to make sure your dining experience is all that it can be, Gracies is a great place for a romantic dinner or group gathering for a special night out. The food is good, the prices reasonable, the atmosphere excellent. Enjoy!"

"We've been to Gracie's a few times, all for brunch, and each time the food quality is wonderful and the service very efficient. On two of our visits we brought other couples with us and they all agree with us, very, very good. Their in-house smoked salmon is my husband's very favorite. I'm partial to their corned beef hash which has spinach mixed in that adds a nice colorful touch. If you're a fan of champagne, their Elizabeth Taylor cocktail is not to be missed."

"We chose Gracie's for a Sunday brunch because of the quiet environment. Our group of six had an 80-year-old and a 60-year-old with hearing challenges. The carpet and drapes kept the extraneous noise down so that everyone could visit and enjoy breakfast.
For this reason alone we'll be back.
Oh, and we enjoyed the food as well!"

"Plan to make it a tradition with another couple to catch up on our lives. The small plates offer variety and good options. 3 of us had the roasted beet salad and would do it again. My husband really enjoyed the roasted asparagus. We shared the chili green beans with our entree. The service was perfect - concerned, sincere and calm. Don't miss the bread pudding."

"We started with a cocktail from the Driftwood Room, which are always superb. We brought a bottle of wine, and the corkage fee is very reasonable at $15. We started with an asparagus salad and a small plate of ravioli caprese; both were delicious. We then had a salad course of a caesar and mixed greens; both were perfectly dressed. For the main courses, I ordered the NY steak and my spouse had the trout almondine. We really liked them both and had an order of forest mushrooms. For desert, we had the crunchy bread pudding with bourbon ice cream. We generally like bread pudding, and this one has moved into first place in Portland."

"What a great contrast to our previous night's dining disaster! Here was a warm welcome, cheerful service and unpretentious food in elegant surroundings. Excellent value and extraordinary menu. Our daughter was taken with the selection of non-alcoholic drinks and my wife's dark and mysterious cocktail had her making a note of the ingredients! We were guided through the novel menu by our splendid server. We went for the Gorgonzola cheese cake in a big way and my grilled smoked salmon was delicious. Try also the flatbread and seasoned potatoes. Excellent place."

"The three of us had a very disappointing dining experience. The extraordinarily complicated menu had tree categories: "from the farm, from the ranch, and from the sea" and was poorly and inadequately explained by our server. What was thought to be an entree turned out to be a salad, entrees were served with no accompaniments, and the wine list resembled one that might be found at a neighborhood tavern. We would recommend that Gracie's bag its current menu and start over. It's a shame such a venerable PDX dining room must suffer so at the hands of apparent amateurs in a city famed for foodie professionals."

"The brunch was amazing; they were able to make substitutions easily and the food was served in a timely manner. Great atmosphere, feels like old Hollywood. "I went for my birthday and wow was this exactly what it looked like online! So beautiful, gorgeous old Hollywood ambiance, perfect genre of music playing in the background to compliment the ambiance. We're both vegetarians and this place doesn't lack for veg options! We ordered five dishes that we shared. And all I can say is AMAZING! The food was just divine--absolutely no complaints! Our server placed each of our orders in perfect time so all of our food was appropriately hot and served with no sense of waiting. Just perfectly timed! Can't wait to go back again!! We highly recommend this Gracie's for a fancy or special occasion dinner!!"

"Lovely dining room, great service. The Beet Salad was great, the mushroom appetizers were too much money for the results, as were the potato fingers. The rest of the meal was very good. The all ala carte dinner menu was a surprise. They offered my daughter a free dessert for her birthday, but we were just too full. Very Nice all the way around.
I think I prefer Gracie's for brunch. My experience with them for a Sunday Brunch was just wonderful also."

"First time at Gracie's and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Private and quiet -- one of the few spots in Portland to offer this type of atmosphere. I felt like I was transported back to a gentler time when you can linger over lunch. I had the cob salad which was quite good, but there were many other options that were equally appealing. I will be back and would recommend Gracie's especially for a special occasion or a romantic evening."

"I have never been disappointed at Gracie's. The total experience, food, service, ambiance, makes for a wonderful evening. I had the in-bone pork chop, done perfectly, and added a very tasty vegetable side. My wife enjoyed the delicious scallops. We shared a beet salad that was just right for two. By the way, if you order a martini with the house gin, New Amsterdam, it is delightful."

"I took my mom to Gracie's for her birthday recently and we both really enjoyed it. We shared several plates. The smoked salmon(roasted per our waiter's suggestion) was amazing. The albacore would have been great if it had been cooked a little less. I also highly recommend the mushrooms, which arrive at your table sizzling in the pan. Will definitely return."

"I thought I had gotten lucky when I got the last open reservation on Valentine's Day, but I'd have been lucky if someone had beaten me to it!!!
The seating is also crowded, if you are having trouble meeting people check out Gracie's, you literally sit right beside total strangers.
The service was slow and the food was mediocre at best, but at least my bill made me feel like I had dined somewhere nice!!"

"Great service from our wait person. I'm embarassed I can't remember her name. She has been serving in the evening about 2 weeks. She communicates well and gave excellent advise on dishes and amounts. The pacing of dishes was right on.
Food was very well presented, hot, and well prepared. The scallops were done perfectly. We would like to visit again to try other items on the varied menu.
I got a glass of wine in the bar prior to being seated. My mistake to ask the cocktail waitress to pick one for me as it was $15 for a small glass and seemed a poor value.
Their website shows white tablecloths in one or two pictures, and these were missing. I believe they also mentioned period music which we couldn't hear. Minor stuff."

"Gracie's was wonderful. My gal and I went there for our 2 year Anniversary and had a great meal and a couple's cocktail, that was really good and strong. Wonderful attentive staff, kind and calm. The ambiance was great vintage style all around of the right mix from different time periods. The food was very well made and at the right amount. It was a bit expensive for what we were used to but well worth it because of the quality of the food and preparing of the dish and also on such a specific occasion. We will definitely recommend it to others and we will come back for future Anniversaries to come!"
