"Food was fabulous, wine order took a bit long ( about 15 minutes) but the dinner was out of this world. Presentation of food and dessert was creative and flawless. Loved the strawberry melon water and the fresh bread, salads were fantastic, we ordered 2 different ones so we could share. Kevin is an amazing chef and we already told all our friends and family they have to go :)"

"Our adult daughter has a gluten intolerance and we wanted to take her out for celebratory dinner. This restaurant exceeded our expectations for accommodating her special dietary restrictions. The chef and staff were exceptionally helpful in making her meal spectacular. Great find we are sure to revisit."

"The food and wine selection were fantastic and the taste of the food was absolutely delicious! We went with the menu's recommendation that the calamari was the best in Syracuse and it was! My filet was so juicy and tender and my dates seafood pasta special was outstanding! Didn't have room for desert but everything on the tray looked phenomenal. Although in a not so great part of town, we opted to sit outside as it was a beautiful spring evening and the dining room was uncomfortably warm. Overheard another patron comment on the "sounds of the city" which actually made the dining experience more interesting for us."

"How have we missed this fantastic restaurant? From start to finish we were in food heaven. Gentile's does have the best fried calamari, probably in the world. It melts in your mouth, it's that good. And the turtle cheesecake was also the best ever. In between, we had lobster and lamb shank. Both were awesome and plentiful. The sides were perfectly prepared too. We will be making Gentile's our special place."

"The food was excellent and the restaurant itself is very pleasent and comfortable. Our o.ly low point was the timing of our service. We had a,6 pm reservation and were out before 730. Everything was on a fast pace with our meals arriving while we were only partially through our greens. Unfortunately that pace,might keep us from returning anytime soon"

"We had a great time here. We got there early, but the service was solid and the quality of food was great. We really liked their gluten free options for essentially everything on the menu. When they came out with warm gluten free bread it made my wife's evening.Gluten free calamari was great as well."

"Gentiles in the new west side location is bigger and better than ever. Outstanding regular menu that changes periodically and always some interesting specials, we love the selection and they cater to the special needs in our group that includes vegan,vegetarian and shellfish allergies. Bring your own wine on Tuesdays can make a difference to those of us who appreciate the chance to try some different selections. Always a very pleasant dining experience, it can be a bit noisy when the restaurant is busy, but typically the dining room is very comfortable."

"This trip to Gentile's was a little different than our others. Some of the food was excellent and some was a bit disappointing. The parparadelli with crab, seemed to be hiding the crab. My beef shortribs were excellent as was the sliced duck. One of our favorites has been Green's Gentile but this time they missed the mark. They lacked the traditional spiciness. The wine choices were good and both bottles we tried went well with our meal. The service was very good. Our waiter (David) was very friendly and good at his job. For a group of 5, they were a little stingy on the bread. They should have offered more. Dessert choices were very nice but I craved something with a very chocolate flair and it wasn't there."

"Having a culinary degree,I prefer fine dining food and cozy restaurants. I found Gentiles on the internet. The menu has amazing food with such beautiful combinations of flavors. We chose the chicken risotto and the asiago stuffed gnocchi. They were both bursting with flavor that made you want to eat slow so the meal would not end. I started with the fried quail which had an incredibly delicious pomegranate sauce. From the fresh bread to the dessert we were impressed. Wish we lived closer, I miss this restaurant already."

"My boyfriend has Celiac Disease and therefore cannot eat gluten. The waiter was very well informed on what gluten was and how he could accomodate my boyfriends dietary needs. We ordered utica style greens as an appetizer and he brought it out split onto two plates, one with bread crumbs for me and one without for my boyrfriend. The waiter was also knowledgable about the wine and helped us in choosing a bottle that was absolutely wonderful. The service was great, the food was great and the ambiance was great. We will definitely go back."

"Wonderful food but our server wasn't the best. After the busboy cleared our plates, we were left at the table for more than 15 minutes before our waiter returned with a dessert tray. We were on our way to a show, so by then we didn't have time even for coffee!! Nothing worse in my book than being stranded at your table once you have eaten your food."

"This restaurant is one of the finest dining establishments in upstate New York. It easily competes with five star restaurants in New York City. The staff are accommodating and the chef is more than willing to change or prepare to the wishes of the clients. The menu and the specials are unique. "Friends had highly recommended it, and we were not disappointed! The interior is lovely and the menu offers many interesting choices. Every one of the salads sounded good to us. We chose the broccoli-kale salad and the mixed greens with brussels sprouts, sweet potatoes, pumpkin seeds, dates, and more. Delicious! Many interesting entrees, too, and almost all can be made gluten-free. The pork shank came with a delicious sauce and risotto. I got the smoked pork pasta dish (gluten-free). The entrees were very generous (we both took as much home as we ate) and fantastic. Everything about our meal was wonderful. As someone who can't eat gluten anymore, eating out can be less than fun. An imaginative menu, great service - outstanding food!"

"We absolutely love Gentiles and go there for many special occasions. I think the food is just as delicious at the new
Location as it was at the old, but I do miss the ambiance of the little place on butternut!
This last time we dined at Gentiles, the food was delicious as usual and the service was
wonderful! We sat in the small room just to the left of the hostess stand and
the only complaint I would have is that it is a little drafty in that room and it is cold and it kind of ruins the ambiance,
maybe if the fireplace had been working or even some large candles around the room could give a more cozy, warm feeling!

"They've done a nice job decorating an existing "modern" space to have some charm. Was there for Valentine's Day, and the setting was romantic (I requested a quiet, romantic spot for two when I made the reservation). We sat in a two-person booth facing each other. The table was a bit long, but the walls behind each of us provided a sense of privacy.
The wine suggestion from the waiter was a good one (requested a low-tannin Italian red, he suggested a Sangiovese for about $30). We had specials - crabcake appetizers with apple-cinnamon aioli and pumpkin spice aioli were excellent, as was her sea bass and my seafood fra diavlo over risotto.
Portion size, preparation, presentation, quality, and flavor all very good."

"The meal was okay - the garnishes the put on the plate really make no sense. I had a pasta seafood dish - on the rim of the plate they put little piles of sprouts and topped them with sliced radish .. Alternating with a sliced green grape - really strange - would have preferred the nice clean white plate. The meals were REALLY over-sauced!"
