Louie's Italian Restaurant & Bar
Celebrates Italian Fare With Neighborhood Appeal
Italian cuisine is known for its depth and variety of flavors, fresh ingredients, and classic comfort. Its diverse appeal, from tastes and textures to styles and regions, make Italian cuisine a family favorite. When Ron Rosa with the new managment introduced Louie's Italian Restaurant & Bar, in 2008, he set out to capture the essence of his favorite Brooklyn neighborhood restaurants from his childhood. This Italian restaurant located in Cos Cob, Connecticut embodies just this; a classic family style Italian restaurant that pays tribute to Rosa's favorite Uncle Louie, for whom the restaurant is named.
"My wife and I are not big eaters and so, we decided, to split the meal. We ordered a "Louie's Salad", 6 raw clams, and the Halibut Special. (It took a couple of tries to communicate our order). The salad and clams arrived together without seafood forks or lemon for the clams and without plates and the there was no plate or plates to split the salad. We asked another waiter for forks and a plate. Same issue with the Halibut, one plate to split the dish.. When I saw the manager I asked if it was the usual way they handled splitting courses. Clearly he spoke to our waiter who had little personality to begin with and became surly as our meal continued. In the end he took my coffee away beofe I was done, w/o asking. We won't be back!"

"My husband and I returned to Louie's for a second time recently. After spending New Year's Eve there, we looked forward to another evening of great food and wonderful service. Happily, we were not disappointed at all! Chose to sit in the bar and were given just the right amount of attention while enjoying the buzz of surrounding diners and watching the staff busily attend to their customers. Cannot stress how good the service is at Louie's. Oiur lovely waitress from Germany was pleasant, efficient and courteous. My husband ordered Louie's Chicken, and I had the Filet Mignon. Both dishes were artfully presented, prepared deliciously and accompanied by perfectly cooked potato and veg. Louie's is great quality and value as well."

"The food at Louie's was excellent, as was the service. The noise level at this restaurant is deafening! My husband and I had to literally yell to each other to have a conversation. There's a very small room in front that seems a little quieter. But seating in the back room or the bar area is really loud."

"Horrible experience. We were rushed the whole night, service was poor. We were given our bill when they served us desert. They then came by 4 times trying to pick up the bill which we hadn't even looked at. Finally the maitre'd came by and asked us to leave!!!! He was rude and really didn't' care if we came back!!!
Mind you, we have been going to this restaurant for 3 years since it was a sleepy local restaurant. Now it is popular and they don't care!!!
For the price of the food ($70/person) the food is okay, but the service is poor! Waiter messed our drink order twice and forgot one of the deserts. Maitre'd was rude and abrasive.
There are much better dining experiences elsewhere. DO NOT RECOMMEND LOUIE'S!!!"

"Food was exceptional. The special linguini with shrimp and lobster was a wonderful combination. The chicken romana was very spicy as stated but not too much. Just right. Really large portions also."

"Louie's is a charming out- of- the-way spot that has very good food and a classy casual atmosphere. It's old worldy and feels like The Old Town Bar in NYC, but not THAT old. One feels instantly at home here. I will be back often."
