The 1886 Café & Bakery serves classic American cuisine in a casually elegant setting. We are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, daily and we serve a weekend brunch menu. The menu features daily specials complimented by traditional favorites such as Texas Pecan Waffle, Helen Corbitt’s Cheese Soup and our acclaimed Hangover Burger. A full bar offers an extensive wine and beer list, along with specialty cocktails.
"It was an easy walk from the parking garage at One American Center. We had a great supper and then had plenty of time to get to our show at the nearby Paramount Theater."

"My experince started the moment I walked into the hotel with its splendid architechture. I am from NC and a friend suggested that I not leave Austin without visiting the 1886 Cafe. I must say that I am glad that I followed her advice. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and willing offered advice as we thought about first our selection of a cocktail (fantastic by the way), our entree, and finally our desert. I took his advice on the banana pudding to be described in one word "WOW!". I come to Austin at least once a year to attend a conference. Rest assured that I will not leave again without a stop by your restuarant."

"Been to 1886 multiple times and the food and service is consistently good. Some dishes are better than others but that is obviously with any restaurant. The last time I went I got the Salmon Burger with a side of Spinach and I do believe I have found what I will be getting from now on. It was delicious."

"Great spot for a Valentine's day dinner - but the trout really disappointed. Fishy and mushy do not mix well. The steak was good, the dessert heavenly. The baked brie was perfectly cooked, but whatever that other thing was supposed to be was totally forgettable. Our waitress was spot-on all night!"

"Reasonable food in a historic setting, and a great place to kick off date night on 6th Street! The staff were all extremely gracious, and the food was great."

"Very good service and beautiful historic setting, but the food needs some work. The prime rib sandwich was very fatty, the fish was overcooked and under-seasoned, and the pulled pork shoulder was tough. Highlights include strawberry lemonade, steak fries and dessert (pecan/banana bread and brownie)."
