Private|Social, located in Uptown Dallas, is where the casual and upscale effortlessly mingle, creating an ideal setting for elegance with ease. While the menu is chef-driven, it remains accessible to every palate and every wallet.
With two distinct themes, our space offers an intimate dining experience showcasing a full dinner service menu of delicacies in Private, and a casual and stylish lounge area featuring shared-plates in Social.
"I met a few girlfriends at Private Social for drinks and appetizers. We all work late so our reservation wasn't until 9:30 - the kitchen here closes at 10. By the time we had chatted, browsed the menu, and gotten our first drink, we were told we could not order.
Drinks it was! There was no server. We had to order our drinks at the bar EVERY time. The bartenders seemed more interested in doing shots with the bar patrons than making sure the tables were served. There was a DJ playing 80s music. The table of 6 next to us requested something a bit more upbeat - he declined. They left. Only good news was that our tab for 11 Skinny cougar's (an $11 dollar drink) came to us at $33 bucks!! Thanks for the free drinks, we probably won't be back :("

"This one of the best dining experiences I have had in a while, and the best I have ever had in Dallas. The bar was amazing, every detail looked over for perfection. The food wasn't only yummy, it was inventive with a splash of creative flair in it's presentation. We let the restaurant order for us, we had the perfect meal and our drink glasses were never empty. The wait staff across the board from the bar to floor were all tip-top and very attentive, as well as very nice. This is a fantastic restaurant. I will be coming back to Dallas just to eat here again."

The review in the Dallas Morning News seems ridiculous and mean. The food was very inventive and delicious. The edible Dali is worth doing once just because it is very fun. It tastes good, but not as good as the other items, which will knock your socks off. The smoked salmon was extremely good. I loved the fried radishes. Everything was very, very good. It was beautifully plated as well.
I talked to several people around our table and they all loved it as well.
I highly recommend it."

"Excellent food and presentation, attentive and efficient service, great selections at the bar. From booking through departure, it was an excellent experience! Only one observation for managrment's attention - while the night was not busy, the bartender was and service was a bit slow. I'd have expected a manager to step in and pinch hit for him."

"Private Social has a new chef/owner, Najat Kanaache. I have nothing but praise for this new re-creation of Private Social. The food was impeccable with an excellent combination of healthy choices, outstanding mix of flavors, spices ect. The service was outstanding and extremely attentive. The display of food was artistic and very creative. Chef Kanaache is a very warm and personable chef/owner who invited us back to her kitchen for a show and tell of how the operations work. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience a major hit in the Uptown Dallas neighborhood. My entire party loved the experience. We will return many times."

"Absolutely excellent food and service. However, don't expect to eat a lot here. The servings look very artistic and the taste is unbelievable but the portions are very small so don't expect to have your belly full after the dinner. Low noise and excellent ambiance so perfect for romantic getaway if you look just for something to nibble while you socialize."

"Even though Private Social is a different restaurant now, we had a delicious, whimsical meal. The only low point was the shrimp, which was bland. The mozzarella salad made me want to lick the plate - flavors and textures melded well. I had the chicken and my date had the halibut - both were served on a bed of fabulous vegetables. So good! The chef paid a visit to our table. Waitstaff (Michelle) was solicitous and recommended that my date try a drink that he enjoyed. We skipped dessert, but were treated by the house to a watermelon/frozen raspberry seed sangria to top off our meal! Enjoyable evening The menu needs some work - not from a 'what is served' standpoint, but from a descriptive standpoint - it doesn't reflect the good food"

"My curiosity was piqued by the new executive chef here,so we booked a table for our pre-show dinner last night. From the gracious staff at the door, to our waiter Zach ,our intimate booth and the sophisticated ambiance made for avery nice evening, indeed. Reminiscent of Heston Blumenthal's approach to the sensory dining experience,a beautiful copper mug was brought to the table to set the mood, with clouds of delightful fragrance spilling out of it (dry ice, thyme....). Next, we were served a sort of liquid "amuse bouche" in the form of a peach sangria-delicious! Then, I had chosen a Pear-Ginger Martini that was fabulous-kudos to the bartender. And my husband had a glass of Grüner Veltliner, which can sometimes be hard to find on a wine l"

"PS has certainly dropped since Tiffany Derry left. The food was fine (nothing special) but our service was quite poor. The water was refilled quite often but the waiter rarely stopped by to see how things were or to take new orders. When we finally did reach him to order a glass of wine, it didn't come until half way through our main course and I had to remind him even for that.
Plenty of other restaurants out there that will treat you better."

"I had tried some appetizers from PS at a benefit late last year and they were delicious so I really looked forward to trying this restaurant. However, I didn't realize that there had been a change of chefs recently. A friend and I dined there last night and we we disappointed. The favors were bland, with some unusual combinations. My cod stew came with a steaming cup of a sauce that looked good but I was told that it was just for aromatic purposes only and not for consumption. Huh??? The food reminded me of the Food Network show, Chopped, where the chefs are presented with a basket with an unusual combination of ingredients. This chef probably makes it through the appetizer round but definitely gets chopped for the entree."

"Very disappointing. I had been to the restaruant once before when the prior Chef was there, so I was excited about going back. Very, very, very limited menu, and the choices are expensive for the quality/taste. They have tried something new that is failing. It is a great location, so look for the new restaurant in that space in about a year."

"Our group was excited to try PS and the new chef. Our excitement quickly evaporated to disappointment. On the upside, the cocktails are wonderful - creative, thoughtful and delicious. I wish I could say the same for the food. We tried least one of every dish on the menu (which is extremely limited). The first course was the best -- and it was underwhelming. Donuts had little flavor. Chicken was a glorified chicken strip reminiscent of the state fair. The anchovy dish was good, but had too much of the pistachio brioche (which, unfortunately, appeared in several other dishes later in the night). The edible Dali was a failed gimmick with greasy filo dough. The ribeye was a poor piece of meat and cloyingly sweet. We left hungry."

"Went for dinner with my husband. Sorry to said our experience was not good. First of all ; the menu is not the same every day which means if You like something today You will not be able to order it you next visit. Breads quality is very disappointed. The menu morroccian menu does not fit the restaurant decor or name. We order the ribeye steak and was only 8 onz for $ 42.00. The vegetables were very good but the steak was small sweet and on top of that was accompanied by a sweet fruit sauce plus a fig pure which made it very overwhelming. The burger: bun was green and dry.( pistacho flavor) and meat even it it was good quality it did not have flavor. The fries were cold. Must said the presentation was very nice. Cocktails; not the best."

"This is no longer our "Private Social" with amazing food from Top Chef's Tiffany Derry. No longer are the days of perfectly crusted scallops and buttermilk lemon ice cream....it's been replaced by some of the worst food and staffing in Dallas. There are 4 choices to each course of the menu. That's it and thats all. I hope your not hungry because with the chicken dish I had was composed of "2" 2 inch pieces of breast meat with a small leg surrounded by undercooked vegetables displayed oddly. My colleague experienced cod in a cup of soup bowl with "2" seaweed cookies. The staff was incredibly awkward and had no understanding of the components. They were tripping over each other and made us uncomfortable with their hovering. DISASTER!"

"Creativity and Presentation are high on the List for this restaurant. I enjoyed everything I ate and would love to go back to get some items I missed. Salmon Appetizer was too small of a portion, but everything else was perfect. Small bits so that one can savor and enjoy the whole dinning experience. The wait between courses is a common complaint, but I feel it gives one time to enjoy the food they just ate, enjoy the company they are with and take in and enjoy the ambience. Please know that this is not common run-of-the-mill food. Take your appetite and an open mind."

"The new chef prepares food that is delicious. Her culinary background infuses Mediterranean flavors into salmon, mussels, and even all American steak. She also involves a bit of food science as well. We enjoyed the gels made from different foods, the use of dry ice, and the infusion of flavors in our meals which was exquisite and delightful. The price of the food is a bit high for an every day meal, but Private Social is definitely worth a visit for a romantic dinner or a special event. The night we went, there was a man reimagining modern radio hits with his guitar. That was also enjoyable but not overwhelming. Overall, a great night!"

"The food was a mix of so-so and truly terrible. Either the food was somewhat bland or was overpowered with certain spices (and there were some odd food/spice combinations). For example, the only thing I could taste in the donuts with agave dip was the massive amount of cumin in the dip - there was so much of it you could taste nothing else (why would you put a spice as overpowering as cumin with agave anyway?). At least my husband's shrimp shooter didn't have the same problem. Too bad it was very bland. However, his main course (the scallops) suffered the same fate as the agave dip- the Indian spices overpowered the scallops. I recommend you go elsewhere. Too bad they care more about how the food is presented than how it tastes."

"Pretentious and overpriced. Ridiculously tiny portions ... & not even good -- at ALL! The "signature" items our server recommended (the donuts and the dali, for example) were overpriced and basically inedible. The "specialty cocktail" our server recommended was SO horrible I sent it back after one sip. One of our tablemates also sampled it and could barely swallow it. We left without even requesting a dessert menu, and were still starving when we got home, due to the miniscule portions of all the items. We called our friends today to apologize for such a horrible choice in restaurants. Don't get me wrong: I appreciate creative cuisine and presentation ... but this was so off-the-charts extreme and farcical we would NEVER return."

"Very unique presentation of dishes and the ones we had were very good. Our five year old daughter enjoyed all the food including the Phyllo canvas appetitizer, the tuna appetizer, the ribeye steak and the chocolate cake dessert. Not really a place for kids, but our daughter is used to going out to nice places and she enjoyed seeing all the food coming out to the other tables as well."

"Overall, I enjoyed my meal here. The goat cheese salad was delicious. The entree portions were tiny! I had two scallops. Two. And they weren't jumbo scallops either. But they were tasty. The dining room is very attractive and it was quiet enough for conversation at our table. Wait staff was excellent. Menu choices were very limited, but I was assured that would change when the new chef was fully up to speed."

"I didn't think I would be starving after I left! Also, I was under the impression (after speaking with a member of the staff over the phone) that they would have a Valentine's Day menu in addition to their regular menu. I was really not happy when we got there and found out that we had a preset menu and nothing else. I was really looking forward to my bf getting to try the oysters rockefeller - since that's his fave! I ordered the peach swizzle drink and it was nothing more than approx 1 oz of liquid and crushed ice. I'm not even exaggerating. Service was good, but pretty slow. It was a neat experience, but that's about it."

"Came here for Valentine's Day and was a little bit let down. Was not aware that the only option was going to be to go off of the pre selected menu and courses. The first course was complimentary champagne which was nice...except for the fact that I don't drink. We we're never asked prefrences on food besides our main course (steak or chicken), and 3 of the other courses were seafood. My girl and I both do NOT like seafood and had to force those courses down. We also had to wait about 45 minutes in between a course and our main course.
If I had known I was going to dish out $50 a person for a menu that was entirely pre selected (for mediocre food at that), I would have booked a reservation somewhere else. We ended up at In & Out after."
