"This is one of my favorite places to dine. Not only because the food is delicious but because it is prepared with thoughtful care. Unique menu items that change with the seasons offer another reason to return again and again. (btw, when is boiled peanut ice cream coming back???) If you live in the Marietta area and haven't been already, get there tonight. If you live in parts beyond, it is definitely worth the drive."

"Wonderful waiter with some great suggestions ( especially the Sauvignon Blanc). He was attentive without being obtrusive. Mushroom goat cheese and honey appetizer was addictive. The scallops were wonderfully seared , almost carmelized while retaining succulence and not at all overcooked. The accompanying risotto was different and delicious. My daughter loved her salad with poached shrimp. Only 2 misses - the tomato soup was more like a sauce and my daughter ate only a quarter of it. I ordered tea after dinner and they only had Bigelow herbal tea. Please upgrade your tea selection and include some black teas. . Overall a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back."

"Everyone at our table was extremely happy with everything we ordered. I had ordered eggs, bacon and grits which were about the best grits I've ever eaten, but I had food envy over my daughter's salad with pieces of fried chicken in it. I grabbed a piece of chicken when she wasn't looking and would have taken the rest of it but I was caught! Now I'm anxious to go back for dinner to order the fried chicken. Also we shared the 3 puddings for dessert and again, they were fabulous. The banana pudding was wonderful and the chocolate pudding was a semi sweet chocolate that was incredible. The ambience was very nice as well, you'd never know sitting inside that the restaurant was in a strip mall. I can't wait to go back!"

"Great food, slow service and a bit noisy in the dining area (due to open room, acoustics and kitchen right there). We had a reservation, the restaurant was not very crowded, and it took at least 10 minutes for someone to bring us water. When the food finally came, it was very good so our it made things better. The dining room is very open with high ceilings and it gets pretty loud."

"We were looking for a "new" place to go in the Marietta area and decided to try Chicken and the Egg predicated on the reviews on Open Table. They have a nice menu and the food we had was very good. The service was also excellent. The restaurant is very open with hard surfaces so the design contributes to a fairly high noise level if the restaurant is crowded. I suspect we'll return to try out some different things on the menu, but the word of warning is that if you're looking for a quiet restaurant so you might enjoy conversation with your eating partner or partners, it may turn out to be a bit difficult at the Chicken and The Egg."

"We read many positive reviews before coming. We arrived at 5:30 on a Thursday evening, so it was very quiet. We were given the option of the Thursday special menu ($25 for two: 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 desserts). It would have been a bargain but the food was lacking. The chicken-fried steak was mostly breading and sinewy. The pork schnitzel was just OK. The pimento cheese appetizer and hummus appetizer were outstanding, as were the banana cream pudding jars. We will be back, but will definitely go with the regular dinner menu. Our server was attentive and pleasant; the wine was well-priced."

"We have always enjoyed dining here in the past, however, something has changed. The energy from the staff is low and the quality of the server staff is not what it used to be. The food on the other hand has become predictable. What started out as a creative destination for dining has become bland. The wine list is small and lacks selections to support the cuisine. I am not sure what the owners are distracted with but I sense there are challenges. I really hesitated to write this but after our last 3 outings confirmed my feelings I wanted to. I do hope they can get their positive vibe back. I would hate to see them go the way of the others who inhabited this space in the past."

"Richard was our server and his knowledge of the menu was impressive, they change the menu seasonally and it had just changed and he recommended perfect dishes for us! He really was a terrific server!! We ordered the mushroom toast and fried oysters for appetizers and they were both delicious! I don't even like fried oysters and I loved these!! Our table orderd the hanger steak, fried chicken and the scallop dinners and they were all perfectly prepared and delicious! We got our desserts to go and ate them later in the evening, the key lime cheesecake was the best! The chocolate with a hint of mint was very rich and yummy!! We will definitely return!!"

"Definitely a step up from the "family" restaurants that dominate West Cobb. Updated Southern cuisine is trendy and appropriate for this area, and food is well intended, and for most parts - well executed. Very reasonable pricing and friendly corkage policy makes it a come-backer for us, as we live in proximity."

"I'm a huge fan of the Farm to Table concept, and I think the guys over at Chicken and the Egg hit the nail right on the head. They have created a modern, yet casual, southern style venue that serves fantastic food but is also kid friendly. I had a perfectly cooked, medium rare hanger steak, with blue cheese whipped potatoes and green beans. I'm not a blue cheese fan at all, but these were incredible. My sister who was also with me thoroughly enjoyed her shrimp and grits. For dessert we both had a sampling from there Jar of Sweets for two. While the Chocolate Pot de Creme was quite good, our favorite was the cheese cake. It was sweet, and light, and the perfect finish to an excellent meal."

"We made reservations for Easter. We were promptly seated when we arrived, but they sat us at a small table , directly at the end of a walkway, next to a service table. It appeared the table had been added at last minute. We asked if we could have one of the empty booths or other tables and were told no, because they assigned tables as the reservations came in. It was uncomfortable, we almost left. We ordered and the meals came out quickly, but my husband's meal was lukewarm. We finished our drinks and dinner and were never asked if we cared for coffee or dessert. We were disappointed on our first time to this restaurant."

"I was pleased to hear that we were permitted to bring our own wine and there was no corkage fee! We started with the black eyed pea hummus and caper tapenade, it was served it toasted pita chips; however, I wish they would have also had some carrot or celery sticks as well. We then proceeded to share the steak which was cooked to perfection! The crispy steamed green beans were a nice addition but I was disappointed with the mashed potatoes. They were far too cheesy and had sort of that artifical boxed-mac-and-cheese. The shrimp and grits were also fantastic but were not quite spicy enough for me. The service from Richard was outstanding and his menu knowledge was impeccable! I will definitely be back."

"The food and service was truly outstanding. I had the short rib, my wife had the country fried steak, both were excellent, though I have to say the frid steak may have been the best I've had. We also started with the pimento cheese, and the special app of the day, pork rillette. Both were also excellent. The only slight let down was dessert, it did not seem to match the truly cared for quality of the meal. I will still give this five stars because the food really was that good ad we will be returning for sure. Excellent overall job!!!"

"This is our second time to visit The Chicken and the Egg. On our first visit, we were very impressed, but this time we did not have quite the same experience. Overall, we did enjoy the meal, but this time as soon as we indicated that we were not ordering an appetizer/salad or an alcoholic beverage, we noticed immediately that we would only get minimal service from our server. It was clear to both of us that since we were not a high ticket table this time, we would not get the same level of service as the tables ordering more. This really changed our dining experience and has impacted our desire to return."

"This was the second time that we have had brunch and it was just so-so both times. (We have had dinner on several occasions and have loved it) Our server was attentive but the kitchen was so ridiculously slow. It took 40-45 minutes from the time we ordered to get our food. The Apple French Toast was just OK, not great. They were very good about doing a special order for a family member with special dietary needs."

"I wish there were more vegetarian options for brunch other than omelets, particularly for those of us who prefer to not eat wheat. The salads (if I remember correctly) have chicken and/or bacon or ham, and also contain nothing particularly interesting. Probably the most innovative thing on the menu is the black-eyed pea hummus; otherwise, the menu is rather uninteresting."

"We both had to ask for more dressing for our salads. One could see a hint of dressing on my husbands, mine however, had none to begin with. When we asked if we could have some bread, we were brought 2 biscuits & ONE pat of butter. The fried chicken's coating was overddone & dry. Once we ate the biscuits, the waitress whisked away the bread basket not thinking to ask if w would like anymore. First visit & last visit. It was early enough in the evening that being too busy can not be an excuse."

"The kitchen seemed to be having issues the Friday night we dined. Lots of servers running around, but not much food coming out of the kitchen. The manager seemed distracted and our server never offered an apology for how long the kitchen was taking (20 minutes for an entree).
The food was tasty, even if a little oily, but the egg that was served with my short-rib (S.O.S.) was hard-cooked -- not the duck-fat cooked egg that was promised.
I want to be in love with C&E the way I was when they first opened. Maybe they are too focused on the new restaurant venture in Roswell. I'll try again to see if they get their rhythm back."

"My husband and I finally got the chance to try out Chicken and the Egg for our Valentines date night! We've heard so much about the place and were very excited to finally try it out. We started out with wine and mussels which were both excellent. For our entrees we had the pork and chicken and waffles. Both of our meats were very dried out, however, the rest of the components to the dishes were excellent. We may not go back for dinner due to pricing and not loving our dishes, however, we will return for lunch and try out their brunch!"

"This is my 2nd time to this restaurant. I enjoyed it both times. Both times were for lunch and the wait staff has been excellent both times. I think the food it quite good...maybe it's because most of the veggies are cooked in pork fat, etc. That makes them taste really good. However, my wife does not eat pork. So she enjoyed a soup and salad which was "just OK". I had the catfish with slaw and green beans and cleaned the plate completely!
I enjoy the down home atmosphere and food of this southern cuisine restaurant, but you may just want to review the menu or call if you have special dietary needs."

"My wife is really trying to eat more organic/natural foods, so for Valentine's Day I was looking for a restaurant that had a more organic menu. I wasn't sure how the night would turn out, especially for me. I found The Chicken and the Egg right in my own backyard. The locally sourced food idea was interesting. The restaurant was busy that night, which was to be expected. We were seated in the bar area, which was somewhat noisy and made conversation difficult. However the interior dining area seemed nice.
I had the chicken & waffle and my wife had the trout. The food was absolutely delicious! If the rest of the food is as good as what we had. I know we will be back, and now we have a local gem for dinner around the corner!

"The food and service were outstanding. I took the family for a late valentine's day dinner. We sat in the section next to the bar. The family enjoyed the chips and dip appetizer as well as the biscuits. Dinner was just as good and the food and drink service was fast. The menu does change so a great reason for us to go back."

"Staff was very friendly and we received great service. However, I ordered the duck dish that costs $26 and the duck was tough, grey and over cooked. "I wish I could say we enjoyed the experience, because we were really looking forward to it, but we did not. The only thing we liked was the pleasant atmosphere of the dining area. I tried Char for the first time, which our server compared to salmon, but it was a much fishier taste. My husband had the chicken fried steak, which was closer to breaded cardboard and way overcooked - he was too polite to send it back so instead settled for a few chicken tenders. My Dad ordered the hangar steak, which was unrecognizable as a meat source and covered in an odd tasting sauce. Thank goodness for the vegetables, which were the only things that actually tasted good and as we expected. I know this was not our server's fault, but the kitchen was very"
