Piccolo Mondo is an Italian restaurant located in Hyde Park's Historic Landmark Windermere House. Piccolo Mondo has been in the same location since 1985, located across from the Museum of Science and Industry and next to University of Chicago. Hyde Parkers and intellectuals of University of Chicago are long time patrons of the restaurant.

"Food was good. Timing was quick for pre-theatre until dessert. For a 6pm reservation we finished entrees at 7:05 and attempted to order dessert. For 25 minutes our waiter ignore us, even as we called out to him "we'd like to order dessert so we can make it to the theatre." We had to ask another waiter for our check when we gave up on our waiter. As we left and passed our waiter he didn't acknowledge us or say goodby. Strange, as his service was decent for 1 hour and then non-existent. Ambiance ok if you are in main dining room but if you are seated near lobby of old folks home lobby, it's fluorescent and depressing."

"Had to pick a place close to the expressway as we didnt have much time and had to get out of town rather quickly. Couldnt have asked for a better place. View of the museum out the window, very nice atmosphere inside and the food was great. Looking forward in trying more of the menu at another time when we are not so rushed."
