Fare is a restaurant and wine bar located in the heart of the Art Museum area on Fairmount Avenue across from historic Eastern State Penitentiary and only a few blocks away from the Philadelphia Art Museum. Our cuisine can be described as clean, focusing on all organic ingredients. We also serve 40 wines by the glass, including a few organic wines as well as sustainable and biodynamic wines, 20 craft beers and a novel cocktail list. This restaurant was built with eco-friendly materials throughout.
"Okay, my daughter found this place and really wanted to go. I was not familiar with it, so I checked out the website. What I saw was: Organic. Local. Sustainable. Crafted. Artisan.
"Oh great," I thought. "This is just what I needed."
Well, it was great and it was just what I needed. I started with the Baked Banana, with coconut, sugar and yogurt was good but the eggs benedict was excellent. My daughter had the Brioche French Toast dipped in almonds and I found myself sneaking bites off her plate. The service was good, but not overpowering. Our waitress seem to always know when we needed her. It was a good experience and I would recommend Faire to everyone."

"We had dinner at Fare following my son's college graduation. Overall atmosphere was upscale but laid-back. The restaurant was busy, but we never felt hurried.
Our server was attentive and friendly. My daughter asked whether a given menu item was gluten-free. Without any further requests, our server brought gluten-free bread out along with the pita bread for the complementary appetizer (good hummus with olives). He also brought my daughter her own smaller version of the hummus. It was a very nice touch.
All entrees were very good -- there wasn't a bad meal in the group. Vegetables were done perfectly.
We were frankly all too full for dessert, but forced ourselves :) to try a flourless chocolate cake just for the taste. Again, very good."

"My family and I visited this restaurant for the first time with a large group for a special occasion. There was plenty of room for our party, even though we arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation. The decor and the menu were both very nice. They have a full bar, with some very interesting (and tasty!) drink recipes. The serving sizes weren't too large but you weren't left wanting, and the food itself was delicious. Unfortunately, the servers seemed to care less that we were there, and even seemed kind of annoyed by having to serve us, although we weren't a rowdy or demanding party. Overall, this seemed like a restaurant that's aspiring to be a fine dining destination -- but that doesn't mean the staff should be snooty!"

"Food was good. Flatbreads were excellent. Beet salad great, kale salad a little uninspired. Flank steak tasted good but potatoes with it were mediocre and the dish as a whole was just fine. Ricotta dessert was delicious. The service was great and the ambience was perfect for a group of six. Overall, a great experience and worth a visit."

"Three of us dined here and weren't overwhelmed by any of the courses, we all had appetizers and entrees, but can't say anything was bad either. We commend the restaurant for trying to focus on organic, grass fed, or local products and for that reason alone, it is worth a try. The restaurant has a bar and the seating area is basically open, so it is not a romantic destination. We will likely give it another try."

"I have been to Fare multiple times and every time i always seem to wait a long time for food and my order is never exactly the way it should be. I am not saying it isn't a great place to eat a meal and enjoy some time on Fairmount ave but a few little tweaks and upgrades would do wonders. 1. Make sure if somebody orders eggs over easy you don't cook the yolks to be solid or if you don't have enough pancake batter for a two full pancakes tell the patron. 2. Get the food out a little quicker, waiting 45 minutes for two lousy pancakes is annoying and bothersome. I understand you might be trying to encourage communication and having an engaging time while out at dinner but sometimes having a drink, eating and being done in an hour is best."

"My second visit was as good as my first. I brought six friends with me for brunch and everyone's choice was delicious. The Mary Cassat Bloody Mary is great -- calamata olives and sweet smoked bacon as garnish. What can be better!! The burrito, the eggs Florentine with smoked salmon, the omelets -- all were perfectly prepared. And the service -- excellent. A real keeper."

"We went on a Saturday night, with 6 people and it was wonderful. We made a reservation, arrived on time and had to wait abo8ut 10 minutes for our table. This was fine, and we had time to review their fun special drink menu. Our apps came out quickly and we had time to enjoy and share before the dinners came out. The food was excellent, fresh, well prepared, and delicious. I would highly recommend 'Fare'."

"Dishes were hit or miss. Ate with a party of six and everyone had the same reaction: they thought either the appetizer was great and their entree mediocre or vice versa. They have cut back on the vegetarian options as well: a negative since we chose to eat here because 1/3 of our party were veggies. A good place to have a meal with friends, but nothing to get too excited over."

"From the start, service was great. Attentive, but not annoying, and without giving you that rushed feeling of a restaurant that is trying to turn tables as fast as they can. Everyone enjoyed their food (apps = tuna tartar, calamari, some other seafood that I don't remember. mains = steak, crab cake, salmon). There wasn't a bite that came onto the table that wasn't enjoyed. Our reservation was for 7PM on Sunday, so the place was relatively quite, but we didn't feel like we were in a lonely corner of an empty place either. Just what we were looking for!"

"I went to Fare with a group of 5 to celebrate a birthday. Every person raved about their entree, from steak to seafood to pasta. The oysters and flatbreads were a great way to start. They had some great cocktails to start the night (Cucumber Martini, etc). Though the wine list certainly seemed to cover all bases, we had bought our own bottles and paid the corkage fee. This is an excellent spot, service was superb (our waiter made us feel comfortable to just be the somewhat boisterous group we were), and the food was well prepared & high quality. Not one misstep. Plenty of reasons to go back!!"

"We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The waiter made a point of recommending nearly the most expensive bottle of wine even though he did not know what food the group was ordering. The food, when it arrived, was very good, but it took over an hour after the appetizers were served to get the entrees. The waiter either did not put the order in quickly or forget to check on it. Excellent food, nice setting and ambience. Service was off which left a bad impression of the restaurant."

"The kitchen seemed to be having some challenges the night we visited. We let the wait-staff know that our entrees were not very well prepared, the Pork Osso Bucco was over-cooked, Crabcakes were burned on one side and the Salmon overcooked. The veggie cakes sound good but they could use more care in preparation and a bump to the seasoning and flavor profile. The food and beverage manager removed the Osso Bucco's from our bill, compted us a delicious dessert and opened a bottle of lovely champagne for us (we were celebrating two birthdays). All of this BTW without us asking....very gracious."

"Great location and great concept! Our table split the mushroom flatbread, and everyone really liked it. I ordered the scallops, which were pretty good (but not the best I've ever had). The service was fine and the alcohol is at very affordable prices. Overall I had a good experience and will return."

"I had a truly wonderful meal and a great dining experience at Fare. The service was excellent and the food delicious. We had the flatbread with cheddar, bacon and apple and it was to die for! I had osso bucco and the meat fell off the bone. Presentation was above average and very important - the coffee was very good! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a delicious meal."

"We had been avoiding this place because of some early not so good reviews. Well it seems they worked out the kinks. We went in for brunch. The staff was very friendly and very knowledgable. We were informed they are going to be opening a beer garden in the courtyard area that we are very excited about. Definitely worth a try and we will be returning for a dinner service."

"Fare was very nice and convenient to the Art Museum area. The menu has a nice variety, something for everyone. The salads are very large (and delicious!), definitely consider sharing one. It was a little loud in the restaurant, but had a nice vibe nonetheless. The staff was good. Attentive even during a busy time. We had a nice time and would definitely go again."

"This was our second time at Fare and it was again a lovely overall experience. The food is interesting and well prepared, good service, and the atmosphere is lively without being too noisy. We didn't spend any time at the bar (went right to our table) but the bar seems very attractive and would be nice to just go there for a drink sometime. Nice spot!"

"My friends and I dine out frequently in the city and suburbs. Our meal at Fare was perfection, the best dinner I've have in a very long time. From salads & appetizers to entrees it couldn't have been better. Also our waiter, (I think it was Chuck) had just the right amount of presence with our table, and made our experience all the better. Will definately be back!"
