"My friends and I had lunch here while going on the local garden tour. We were seated right away and decided on the patio since it was more quiet. We were served water right away and were told the special of the day. The service was good and the food delicious with both of us enjoying salads. We have eaten here before and always enjoy coming back. When we left we were thanked for coming."

"This is one of our favorite restaurants and have been here many times, and every time had a great experience. This time, we came here for dinner for our anniversary on a Tuesday night. The place was moderately busy and pretty full by the time we left. The servers were prompt, fun and friendly. The wine list, while not huge, is very smart with good selections in all price ranges. The food was excellent. We started with the battered and fried asparagus, which was cooked perfectly. My wife had the salmon and loved it. It had a seared crust and was cooked exactly the way she requested. I had the spring chicken, which was also cooked to perfection."

"The service is top notch. Everyone was extremely friendly and attentive. The food was very good. I recommend starting your meal with the spring salad with all of its wonderful flavors and ending the meal with one of their delicious desserts. The pear tart with vanilla bean ice cream was great.For the main course, I had the baby back ribs. The meat fell off the bone it was so tender. The macaroni and cheese was good. I was hoping the jalapeno coleslaw was going to have more of a bite than it did, but it was still good. The others in my party had the salmon. They all cleaned their plates. For those on a small budget, I would recommend it for special occasions."

"My first visit was disappointing, especially after rave reviews. Possibly, an off day.The pear quesadilla starter sounded wonderful,but you had to search for the pear-- sliced so thinly rendering no hint of pear flavor. We had to send back the "Black and Blue" steak salad as the meat, though ordered medium rare, was well done.In addition, we both tasted it and agreed the meat had "turned." The waiter was most apologetic and immediately returned it to the kitchen and brought a new one which was much better, though nothing special. The dessert -- the pear pastry with vanilla ice cream and caramel drizzle was the best of the three dishes and certainly a portion large enough to share. May try again because of the gracious service & ambiance."

"When the hostess tried to seat us right next to other people, we asked if we could sit at one of the other tables inside---She said that they were all "reserved"...If she would have told us that they needed to keep those tables open in case they had a lot of parties of 4 come in, we would have understood...Instead we ended up outside (fortunately it was a warm evening!) When we left the restaurant, (about an hour later) we saw that none of the "reserved" tables were occupied! We probably won't be going back to the Peasant & the Pear again.

"Went for prix-fixe Easter brunch...did not execute the menu very well considering there was a limited selection. The food seems to have sat waiting so that it was delivered on time, but eggs don't sit under heat lamps well. French toast was not very "Foster"y and sourdough crust was very tough, wished I had a steak knife. Regular menu on non-holiday is much better."

"We arrived before 1:00 but were promptly seated at 1:00. The restaurant was filled with families because of Easter. We were seated next to two charming families and enjoyed conversation with them. The brunch menu was fixed but with choices. My husband enjoyed the prawn salad followed by prime rib hash. It was delicious and the hash serving was very generous. I had the green salad with warm brie and then the salmon. Very tasty and well prepared. Presentation was beautiful. We finished with desserts, Pear tart and chocolate salted carmel truffle cake. Wow, both very delicious. I have been to this restaurant before for lunch and dinner. I have never been disappointed. Try it!"

"4 friends dined and had a terrific evening. 2 of us had the chicken which was fork tender and very well seasoned. The others had the paella which they judged to be excellent. We sat in the back which was much quieter than in the front. Our wait person was attentive without being intrusive."

"Fantastic date nite for us. Our server guided us well on our choices. Lamp shank was off the hook for me and my husband said his salmon was the best he had. The wine selection was great as we ordered a bottle that was very notable. Pear tart was a great end with a shared glass of port. We look forward to returning as we spent 3 hrs there."

"I really wanted to give The Peasant and the Pear the five star treatment...couldn't do it, and so, I'll have to return yet again!
I wanted to go out to dinner with my spouse and some friends. They mentioned Scott's in Walnut Creek but I wanted something a little more local. I proposed: "Let's try The Peasant and the Pear! I managed to swing a table for four on http://Opentable.com!" Ah, the power of suggestion! Dinner at 6:15 p.m. and a short drive to boot!

"This is one of our favorite restaurants with consistently good quality, nice ambiance, and excellent service. We went for my husband's birthday Saturday night, the service was wonderful and attentive and the food was good. I had the Chicken Carbonara which was OK, but not excellent - it was a bit gummy indicating that it was probably reheated in a microwave. My husband, however, had the osso bucco style lamb over polenta and it was superb."

"Personally, I'm a cooked, so I had become to be such a critique of food, especially in places when it's a little pricier than your ordinary restaurant. Here the food is good, not great but decent for the money you pay. It's Valentines, so they were so busy, they just couldn't get my steak done according to my preference. Otherwise, I've been here for lunch many times, it's a great lunch place."
