"One of our favorite restaurants. The mussels are delectable. The squid ink pasta, which they make on the premises is also remarkable. My husband usually orders the osso bucco if it is on the menu. He swears it is the best he has ever tasted. That's saying a lot since he lived part of his childhood in Italy. Another favorite is the veal shank. What is amazing about the owners, is their willingness to do whatever it takes to make you happy. So special requests and alterations to the menu are permissible.

"Everything about our trip to La Pergola was perfect. The attentive (yet not overbearing) service, the menu selection, the taste and quality of the food and the portion to price ratio. This is awesome find - true italian cooking with the service you would expect at the nicest of nice restaurants. We will be back.
Also, dessert was amazing. Tiramisu and tartufo were huge hits."

"Another great meal in a beautiful setting!
The salads we choose were La Pergola and a Fennel Salad. Both were very fresh, very large with unique dressings that made you want to finish them. For dinner, my husband had the homemade broccoli rabe parpadelle with a rabbit ragu & I had the homemade spinach linguine with filet mignon tips in a mushroom cream sauce. Presentations were beatiful & simply delicious! Portions were very generous - take home was necessary. For dessert we split the homemade limoncello cake that was simply amazing!
Husband and wife Owners are always onsite checking all tables and making sure that everyone is happy, satisfied, and has everything they need.
One of our favorite BYOB italian restaurants!"

"Lovely on the outside but not worth the paper the menu is written on . The food stands alone and it ends there.Extremely long wait for appetizers and this is during a not busy service. They were more than adequatly staffed for a Sunday eveneing ,actually theuy were overstaffed . in being a BYOB establishment your natural assumption would be the staff is trained in seeeing and knowing higher end bottles of wine. If not for ordereing food for my child as soon as we were seated he would of gone hungry. By the time he had finished his entree we had yet to have our orders taken. To make it quick NICE. Thats it . Been there done that ,dont do the same . I have had more atttentive staff at the Olive Garden ."

"Fresh, authentic Italian food cooked to perfection! We started with the fennel salad, La Pergola appetizer (awesome), and arugula & pear salad. We then had two different kinds of homemade gnocchi, spinach pasta with short ribs, & a phenomenal Dover sole (hard to come by nowadays).
Staff and presentations excellent. Portions large enough to warrant enough to be taken home, no room for dessert for me :( but others in our party had a delicious rasberry tart and homemade cappuchino panna cotta.
All pastas and desserts are made lovingly by the Owner, who is also a most gracious hostess! The Owners are so welcoming and make you feel like an old friend. Add in the fact that this restaurant is a BYOB and you have a night of perfection!"

"Hands down - the best HOMEMADE Authentic Italian Food around! We're always on the lookout for BYOBs yet never got around to going to La Pergola - boy, are we now sorry.
Regular menu was great, specials menu even better, & after finally deciding, the Owner stopped by with additional specials-which ultimately were awesome!
Mt starter of salad with beets, grilled shrimp, prosciutto, burrata, & baby greens was huge & when my gnocchi came I ended up taking 1/2 home! Spinach pasta with filet mignon tips & braised short ribs with sweet potato gnocchi rounded out are meal.
Everything is cooked to order. All pastas and desserts are homemade by the Owner (she came over to us after our meal & was simply delightful).
WE WILL BE BACK!!!!"

"We had an early dinner reservation at La Pergola on Valentine's Day and were very disappointed.
Even though there were fewer than 4 other tables occupied when we arrived, we were rushed through the entire dinner. It was clear to us that they were trying to push us out to make way for other potential guests on this very popular evening.
They offered a "special" Valentine's Day menu with prices that were overly inflated, (ie $30+ for simple pasta's with no meat!)
The food was at best mediocre and in no way deserving of the prices they charged. I've eaten at numerous pizzerias with better food.
There are so many better choices in Milburn; I'd pass on this one."

"Dined with four other people. Only one other had been to La Pergola before. All five of us were BLOWN AWAY by the subtle flavors in the perfectly prepared food. The host/ owner treated us like visiting dignitaries and accomodated every single request promptly. This is the best restaurant in Millburn and the surrounding area. I occasionally have to impress colleagues who dine out a lot and are not easily impressed. No one I have brought has been unimpressed with this reastaurant."
