"We went to the Empire Lounge for my girlfriend's birthday. Because we had a reservation, they asked if we were there for a special occasion, and from that point on, our waiter really made it a special night. He knowledgeably answered all our questions and made great recommendations. The food was delicious and you have to try the beignets with marscapone ice cream. Delectable!"

"This place has really good food. Big, fresh oysters. Perfect risotto. Shrimp and grits. Well-grilled duck breast. Nice extra touches not just for show -- they work. And even really tasty desserts. Service was attentive and timely. Six people happy with their choices and the evening."

"Quaint Louisville main drag initially attracted us. Food is good; Burger & Calamari salad kept us hoping. However, over 6 visits, overbooking, a clearly understaffed bar & surly wait staff have sealed Empire's fate. With reservation, waited 30 mins to seat. Drinks in 20 mins, fastest has been 10 :( Restaurant 101 - bar = largest margin??? Most problematic, combative wait staff. We got coke that resembled iced tea, obviously syrup was out. Our waiter argued it was fine, he poured it himself??? This escalated into confrontation of SNL proportions. Just get us another coke already. This is one of a few incidents encountered. C'mon this isn't NY, oh wait... I eat in NY regularly and have never had service like this. Too bad, we wanted to like."

"Booked reservation for a business dinner, and although I was not there, those who were had nothing but positive things to say about the food and the overall experience. We will definitely be coming back again."

"We have been going to the Empire since it opened finding that it improves like fine wine. Always great food, solid service, good value, and yet each new visit brings out another flavor, a positive change, a little more refinement, a need to come back again. Oysters are always on our mind when we stop by; no it's not a seafood house; but they found the right mix and bring it consistently. Traditional cocktail sauce is left sitting on the outside, as there is always a new refreshing twist to compliment the oysters. Great salads and sides that often make for dinner themselves when combined; our choice this time around with some great wine. The best thing about this place, same menu with a great beer and you would leave just as happy."

"This was our first visit to the Empire Lounge. We were surprised and delighted on the service and food here. As a wine Som I found the wine list limited in selections but the wines on the list were very good choices to select from."

"Almost cancelled my reservation at the Empire after reading the recent reviews on Trip Advisor. I'm glad I didn't - the service was great (Rob) and the food was delicious. We'll be back :)"

"Was a disappointing night out. They were out of 2 of the wines we wanted to enjoy and it didn't seem to bother the server at all. The restaurant was way too hot and nothing was done. The food was average and way overpriced. To top it off, they were out of cream for the coffee and tried to convince us that some milk was half and half. We will not be returning."

"Made a reservation and were seated in the back room away from all other guests. Had no company back there for 30+ minutes when two large parties finally arrived. Food was quite good but our waitress was horrible! She left us for long periods of time without checking on us, got an order wrong, charged us for two drinks that were supposed to be on the house and was generally unpleasant. Rest of the staff was friendly and helpful. This was my second visit to The Empire. Recommend trying it during the week."

"We came in on Valentine's evening and I ordered the chicken. It was the worst meal I have had in a very long time - over cooked, no meat and served with over cooked potatoes."
