"Originally I wanted a later reservation, but took the early one. We've been here before, hubby loves the Saturday Prime Rib! We've been later and they've been out which was disappointing, but understandable, it is really good! We didn't feel rushed even though I could tell when we were ending, there were lots of people who were waiting for tables. Great food, no long wait for it, and we didn't feel hovered over or forgotten by our server. :)"

"This restaurant is very busy, which to me indicates it is a good place to go. We were there with friends and the food was outstanding. The wait service was adequate, but not outstanding, and the noise level was very high. It felt like we were shouting to each other. Despite all that, we would go again for the food."

"It was my husband's birthday.... they gave us complimentary key lime pie which was without question the very best key lime pie I've ever eaten in my life.... we both had the fried chicken heavenly which is a favorite and was great as always. The garlic mashed potatoes are heavenly. Our server Scott was just terrific.... very knowledgable about the menu items... even gave me some great advice on making flatbread. He was so personable and did all he could to make our evening special."

"Noisy, filled with noisy seniors and little kids. Can''t hear any conversation at your own table due to the high noise level. Requested a table close to the door for a handicapped person not to have to walk that far but when we got there, they were escorting us to the back of the restaurant. When I stated they needed to look at the request, then I had to wait for a table though there were two tables up front but those were reserved for special people, I was told. So they put us right next to the kitchen and the wait staff computer and where everyone walks by to get to their tables."

"We have two teenagers and they love going to L.Woods. Most recently we went for our younger son's 16th birthday. He loves to order the bacon cheeseburger. "This wasn't the first time L Woods ran out of their daily special and it's really disappointing when they do. Tuesday it was 12 hour cooked brisket which made the place smell wonderful. But to run out by 7pm? Really? Even the brisket sandwich was gone. Get it together LEY! Otherwise the buffalo wings are the best in Chicago!"

"I do not usually give negative reviews, though I am an open-minded foodie who can enjoy all kinds of atmospheres.
I like the rustic decor and theme of the place and the menu and food were OK.
The thing that ruined the whole ambiance was a pervasive smell in the restaurant that reminded me of a nursing home.
It smelled grimy, like there was old food ground into the floor or a film of grease on the surfaces.
I hope L Woods rips out the carpet and does a complete, deep cleaning of the place. It has a lot of potential."

"Party of 5 -- The food was delicious. We shared a large chopped salad for the table. Entrees included ribs, veggie burger, skirt steak sandwich, and 2 orders of the almond-encrusted walleye (yum!). Our waiter, Evelio, was the best! He was helpful (we were going to order two salads, but he told us one large salad would be enough, and if not we could always get more), attentive without being intrusive, extremely friendly without being overly informal, and he definitely gets 5 stars for his service! He also brought a candle in a complimentary sundae for the birthday girl--with 5 spoons so we could share--AND he sang! We were all so stuffed from dinner that a few bites each of the sundae was the perfect dessert! Thanks, L. Woods--and Evelio!"

"We've had several meals at L. Woods. The noise level is frequently uncomfortable. Couldn't hear our own table conversation while families with young children run uncontrolled. Food was just mediocre with broccoli limp and fried chicken overly wet with cooking oil. Service was not the usual kind relaxed or helpful. Felt rushed."

"L. Woods has good food. But our service was not so good. It was a crowded Saturday night and I understand a server not being on his/her game every once in a while but all of our food came at once. We ordered, then boom! Salad, dinner and desert. We were having them box things because we would be in the middle of a forkful of food and they would bring a new plate. It made eating there feel rushed and it was not enjoyable. We were just trying to enjoy our conversation and have a nice leisurely paced dinner but that's not what L. Woods wanted. They wanted us in and out. A quick turn of the tables. It will be a while before I go back. Disappointing."

"It was our anniversary and we were seated at a corner table at a thourough fare. It was kinda loud and very busy, but had a great app called wallleye chips. Excellent! but our dinners were just OK, and we were served barely warm baked potatoes. reordered them and just slightly warmer to melt tthe butter. Then our waiter started to step it up! Damage done. Left after dinner......no big deal."

"Food great, waitstaff great, ambiance great (it helped that we waited til the day after Mother's Day to celebrate Mother's Day and avoided the crowd). This restaurant knows how to do it right, with warmth and genuine interest. Save room for dessert (which is hard to do, after a meal of excellent filet mignon, creamed spinach and twice-baked potato), because the new strawberry rhubarb crisp is wonderful. A perfect Spring meal-ender."

"We were crammed into a table for4 when I had a reservation for 6pp.
I asked to be moved to the open round table behind us and they would not move due to another guest who reserved it.
the guest never came and then they broke the table down and added to a set of tables to make one long table.
Why did they not just do that with our table and let us be comfortable in the round table? I could not eat my meal. we have been going to this restaurant for years now. they do not appreciate their loyal customers."

"My grandson, 12 yrs.old, picked this as the place to celebrated Mother's Day. We enjoyed the ribs and the chicken sima. And of course the delicious key lime pie. We have been going here for the last 10 yrs. and it is always crowded and lively and the food is consisently good."

"The food and cocktails were great! The table was all setup when we arrived and they were very accommodating of our "special request" to have a booth for an infant carrier. Our server was pretty average--not very engaging or attentive. That said, the only major complaint I had was that our salads were delivered less than 5 minutes before our dinner. I will definitely go back."

"I have yet to try anything at L.Woods that isn't delicious. The fried cheese curds are so good my head almost explodes when eating them. My husband loves the ribs and steaks. The service is always top notch. It is a cosy, homey restaurant and the experience is always wonderful."

"We go to this restaurant several times a year. Usually we like the food, atmosphere and overall experience. However, on this visit, even with one of your reservations, we were given the choice of having our party of 6 sit in the bar area or at a table more suited for 4-5. Since we were visiting with out-of- town old friends, we took the bar seating so we could at least have room to enjoy our dinner. I hope this was a one time experience."
