"I was very impressed with the food and overall service at Red Lantern, but our specific waitress was so solicitous that it took away from the overall experience. I went on a Wednesday night with my aunt, uncle and father, all of whom are in their 60's. The restaurant was not full, but was busy. While the waitress was very attentive, she constantly approached us to find out if we wanted to order drinks, more drinks, food and more food. At one point, a manager came over to ask if we wanted to order more food as well. I got the feeling they'd pegged us as low spenders and wanted to up the bill. It was disappointing because the food was so good and the place is so fun, but I don't like being made to feel worthless when I'm the customer."

"Friendly waitress, fun and energetic atmosphere, and amazing food made this restaurant a favorite for us. Excellent menu for sushi and as well as inspired appetizers. Lots of entrees to choose from. Dessert was the best however. I highly recommend Japanese pumpkin donuts! They were amazing!"

"This place is my go-to place for showing friends and family a good time when they come to visit the city...and it never disappoints. The food is spectacular, the ambiance is gorgeous and jaw-dropping, the drinks are very well made and its just a fun time for dinner or a night out. Highly recommended and I always can't wait to go back!"

"Most of the food was great, beef and chicken skewers were a great appetizer. Edemame were up a notch w a yummy dipping sauce.
Shanghai street noodles were excellent and spicy! But the halibut was overlooked, under seasoned and cold. Unimpressive though recommended by the server. Creme brûlée trio was excellent as well.
Front of the restaurant needs work: hostess as me to check back in re out reservation and seating us,oat establishments find the client in the bar that's their job.... The manager was rude in his seating of us, lying to us and saying an alternate table was for a trio when it was held for an investor. Say so, don't lie (and then deny it!)!
Will I go back? Maybe...it's a fun nightclub feel restaurant - convenient w good foo"

"I have been going to Red Lantern for more than a year now and it seems to get better like wine.
It can be a little overcrowded nowadays but it remains, in my opinion, the place for young adults (25-45) to see and be seen.

"Very friendly,attentive, enthusiastic and knowlegable servers. I went with my gal friends for dinner and drinks. At one point they asked us to switch tables so that they could seat a large party. We happily did so, and they gave us a free round of drinks for doing so! My friends and I were impressed with the servers' knowledge of the menu. I would highly recommend this place for either a fun night with a group of friends or a date."

"Dont take the 3 stars as a negative. I admit I shy from 3 stars because I find people over rate many restaurants on OpenTable. There is nothing wrong with good food and Red Lantern is just that, all around good. The popcorn shrimp were particularly good as was the crab infused rice that came with the shrimp special, big chunks of lump crab. Fun place if you are looking for Asian fusion and a neat atmosphere."

"The food is mediocre, but they have fun drinks and a lively atmosphere, albeit kitschy. I could see myself hanging out near the bar... However, the service was not good. Our waiter was really distracted. He had forgotten to bring out the tea we ordered and was generally absent. We waited around a while in order to get our check.
If the food was better, I'd be willing to give their wait staff another try, but it's not. Oh well."

Ambience was awesome, food was excellent - we did find a bone in our duck dumplings, when we notified the server he called over the manager who then took the dumplings off the check, sent over another app and another round of drinks, took the drinks off the check AND sent out complimentary dessert!!!!

"We went on a quiet Sunday night and sat at the kitchen bar so we could watch the chefs in action. It was a lot of fun to see all the dishes being made and the amount of prep work that goes into the meals. Everyone was very friendly and if we wanted to know what ingredients the chef was using, we would just ask and he was able to fill us in."

"Celebrated my B-day there. 3 out of 4 of us scored their meal a 9 or 10! Unfortunatly mine was a 6. I had the drunken noodles. Very generous portion but bland, super spicy doesnt give it flavor, just made it hot. Everyone else LOVED their dish. Atmousphere and vibe was outstanding. Drinks are outrageously expensive, but that seems to be the new norm. Service was excellent, very noisey but I attribute that to the younger clientel which gives it such a great vibe. Would definitly go back again."

"Very pleased with the room we sat in somewhat quieter than the large open space. Although sometimes difficult to choose from the large menu, we were very happy with everything we ordered. Will certainly plan to go back."

"Server had no personality, forgot our edamame, and was inattentive in general. I have a lot of experience waiting tables, so I can be forgiving for most errors that are not the servers fault. But that was not the case. She was terribly dull and inattentive on a quiet night. NOT acceptable.
The table was wiggly, the lamp light was blinding, and no coat check. Boo!"

"Showy plates of good tasting food. Lively noise. Beautiful decor. Seems to work for both romantic pairs and groups having a good time. We ate all cooked food--only criticism: sauces seemed similar (on wood fired skewers, dumplings, stir fried fish)--but tasted good. Maybe next time, we need to mix sushi with cooked food to avoid this."

"The food was delicious! We had a table of 8 and shared several of the small plates and appetizers and ordered as we went - which was great fun. It was REALLY hard to hear anything in there other than the person seated right beside you. Our service started out strong, but we saw less and less of our waitress as the night went on. We sat at out table for over 30 minutes waiting for the check. I would absolutely go back for the food, as long as I wasn't in a hurry to get to a show or event."

"Really wanted to like it but food was disappointing, especially for the upscale price. Street noodles would have been excellent if they were less salty, same for the stir fried short ribs. The pork dumplings were overpowered by their sauce and the tuna tartare was weighed down by mayonnaise. All of the ingredients seemed fresh and the dishes could have been great if it weren't for the heavy hand of the chef who didn't trust the ingredients enough to let them shine on their own. The service was too attentive and felt intrusive. On four occasions the waiter came to pour our bottled water after we'd taken a single sip."

"This place was delicious! The sushi was the best I've ever had! They also serve an array of other dishes including braised ribs, noodles, and filling salads. Food was very fresh. Atmosphere was fun and romantic. The service was amazing and helpful without being intrusive. The restaurant itself is worth going to see. It's beautiful inside, with what had to be 30ft ceilings, giant Buddha statues, running water and dim, warm lighting. We loved our time there but we DID pay for it. My wife and I had drinks appetizers and entrees, and we managed to drop $140 after our tip.
Bottom line: Bring your date here. They'll be impressed."
