"Sophisticated and upscale with white tablecloths. The tables were spread out nicely and the bar looked inviting. We enjoyed the saxophone player - not too loud and a good choice of material. The ceviche was excellent and the lamb chops perfectly cooked."

"Although the food was tasty, portions were adequate at best. Rack of lamb was 3 chops rather than the 5 it appeared to be since a set of two were joined together but really with the thickness of only one. The dessert menu was rather weak; the chef might consider adding a couple of more choices. Prices were very fair for the fine quality of the food. It was very enjoyable to have a musician play throughout the meal. All in all, this was a pleasant dining experience, just missing by a tad the appellation of an upscale, fine dining restaurant."

"Mandy tables emptied when we arrived but "our assigned tabled" wasn't ready. Sat for several minutes waiting for a waiter to come but to no avail. Went to buffet line & sat down waited for any of the 5 waiters to serve us. I stood up and asked a waiter if he could bring us water. He asked who our server was we indicated we didn't have one. Brought coffee but there was no sugar or cream. Looked for waiter but couldn't find him. Asked another waiter for cream & sugar and he pointed us out and asked someone else to bring it. Buffet was limited quality of food mediocre. The service was none existent."

"On arrival, a clean and efficient restaurant, good receptionist and attentive yet discreet waiter. Waiter knowledgeable about the food and easy with the recommendations without pushing any particular choice. The music was good, great saxophone but soft enough to have a conversation. Food was very nicely presented and well prepared, I will return soon."

"The food, the service, and the surroundings were terrific. In particular, the food was fresh without being precious. The shrimp tempura was light, yet tasty. The braised beef was melt in your mouth tender and full of flavor. The scallops were absolutely fresh, cooked to perfection (seared perfectly, but not undercooked inside), tender and sweet. Presentation was beautiful. Waitstaff was attentive and charming. All in all, 5 stars, without a doubt! Thanks for a wonderful evening!"

"This was our second visit in as many months and we will go back again soon. We have eaten with fellow foodies and found the food well prepared, beautiful and served well. The restaurant is quiet with pleasant background music allowing conversation at the table or quiet reflection over the dishes. My wife has asked me to make reservations for her birthday next month - will do."

"A little more formal than most restaurants in Punta Gorda, However we had a table of eight in the back part of the didning room which allowed us to be a little more noisy than had we been crowed together with other diners. Some of the dinners had to be sent back for warming. I had asked for separate checks for each couple when making the reservation which was not done. Not a big deal, but not what I asked for."

"Great place for a birthday celebration. First time for goat cheese....awesome as was the lamb. Warm pesto + warm bread Mmmmm. Timely serving of courses...relaxing. Our waiter added to our very pleasant experience...friendly, efficient, and the candle he put on my carrot cake was a very nice surprise..a great way to end the meal. By-the-way, your carrot cake is the best I have ever eaten! The entire celebration dinner was a huge success. Thank you so much. We will be back! P.S. My husband has asked me to request that crepes be added to your wonderful dessert menu (his personal favorite)even though

"Good experience overall. Service was a little slow for us. Service at several prior trips to the Sunday brunch was unacceptable. The waiters checked in with us about once each meal. The last two times, they didn't even offer to refill coffees."

"We came here to celebrate my cousin's birthday and all four of us were pleased. Gabriel, our server, was helpful and attentive. My chicken entree could have used a bit more sauce but my husband who had a shellfish/bouillibaise entree and cousin who had duck were delighted. Soups and dessert were wonderful. We'll be back."

"I think they might have been short a server the night we were there. Our server got our orders wrong twice and when finally served, the food wasn't hot. Maybe we came on a bad night. In any case, we would up boxing most of our meal."

"I usually eat lunch at Opus which is always wonderful, but this time I was there for dinner. As always, everything was excellent. My husband had never eaten there and thought it was great also. The waitress was attentive to our needs but not intrusive. A beautiful restaurant with wonderful food and friendly staff. Who could ask for more?"

"This is a great place to go if you want good food and service and actually be able to hear your dining companion. The wine selection is good, tho somewhat pricy, and the food was very good. I had the shrimp served three ways. Our server was excellent. And the noise level is such that I think Opus actually gets that people want to be able to hear what is going on at their table and not be drown out by the surroundings. Good job Opus."

"We were very disappointed in the Sunday brunch we attended this weekend. We had a 12:30 reservation and, upon arrival, there seemed little staff to greet us, serve drinks or explain the menu. In fact, there was no menu. The half empty steam tables of overdone food were unmarked and were somewhat mysteries, even after trying them. The omelet chef was very inexperienced although he did make an effort to turn out a fairly messy concoction. The desserts were all gone from the buffet and our waitress went in the back and scrounged up a small plate for the four of us, whispering to keep it quiet. All in all, certainly not worth the time or money."

"We went to OPUS for our anniversary - which I had noted on the Open Table reservation. The hostess did note the occasion - but so quietly my wife did not even hear it - and that was the end of that. When our meals came - the manager (or who we thought was the manager) came by and asked how everything was - we hadn't even tasted the food. And when we did - the food - and particulary the fish served to my wife - was barely warm. While we did get new entries - the waiter said the chef blamed it on us! This was our first trip to OPUS and probably our last - very disappointing as we were looking forward to a fine dining experience that did not materialize."

"WE are Snowbirds and frequently have overnight guests who wish to treat us to dinner to repay our hospitality. We decided to try out Opus for the first time. I checked their dinner menu online and knew that our foodie friends would approve of the selection. It is very rare that I dine out and every person at the table is impressed with their meal. The presentation of each entree was lovely. The other female guest and I even had a beautiful orchid on our plates. The quality and preparation of the food was outstanding. We dined on sea bass, rib eyes and duck. Our friend, who is very knowledgeable about wines, was impressed by the selection. Unfortunately, we were too satisfied with our dinner to try out the desserts. We can't wait to return!"

"We enjoyed a wonderful evening at Opus. We were celebrating our aniversary and this was a perfect spot. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant. The live music was a wonderful addition. The wait staff is very attentive with detail on service. Our meals were excellent the presentation beautiful. We will definately return and will recommend to all our friends."

"Modern decor with original artwork from local artist on the walls -- soft music and quiet atmosphere promotes nice dinner conversation with no need to shout or strain to listen. Food was excellent -- can highly recommend the roast duck in cranberry demi-glace with sweet potato gratin as well as the Shrimp Feast (crab stuffed shrimp, coconut shrimp and grilled shrimp). NOTE: Save room for dessert!!! They are "to die for"... We had the Chocolate Pots de Creme, so luscious and rich and served with a raspberry coulis, and the mango and guava cheesecake, which was light and refreshing... This is a wonderful and unique restaurant in Punta Gorda!"
