Brockton Villa is a beautiful historic home converted into a restaurant located directly across from the ocean. Our seaside location offers a spectacular view of the world-famous La Jolla Cove, and has become a favorite "show off" spot for locals and visitors alike. We are known for our breakfasts, including our famous Coast Toast. Our chef creates many other wonderful dishes seasonally for lunch and our dinner service.
Our house is the perfect place for you to host your next party. Whether it be a wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, baptism, bridal shower, baby shower, or any special occasion.

"We have walked by this restaurant several times and have wanted to try it. We chose our daughters graduation and Father's Day as the day we tried. we made 3pm reservation but were able to walk in about an hour and half earlier. The food was great and the view and atmosphere were equally great. We will come back!"

"Recently had Fathers Day breakfast at the Brockton. My husband's favorite coffee is the Keith Richards. We both had Lobster and Crabmeat Omelets. Seated promptly at time of reservation. Great food. Great service. And, of course, gorgeous view!"

"We requested a table overlooking the view and it was beautiful. Outstanding service, very responsive to our requests and very knowledgeable about the menu. Probably the freshest scallops I have ever had. This is a neighborhood gem that often gets overlooked and that's a shame, because they really have an outstanding menu with a gorgeous view."

"I've been coming here for a few decades now and it continues to be "a must visit" when I'm in town. When I was a local in SD, we often came here for late breakfast. Nothing beats, the beautiful view and ocean breeze. Service is always great and efficient. Most importantly, the food has been consistently wonderful throughout the years. Be sure to try their famous "coast toast" - you won't be disappointed. Do make a reservation if you are able to. Weekends and holidays usually are a long wait."

"If you want brunch with a view Brockton Villa is a must! I took six ladies visiting to celebrate a bachelorette brunch. They were amazed by the view and all enjoyed their dishes. I ordered the pork and soy-rizo chilaquiles, they were good but nothing amazing the portion was rather large this dish could easily be shared. The coast toast on the other hand, are something truly amazing! They have a custard like center and slightly crispy edge. The clam chowder was different in a good way. Fresh-squeezed mimosas are always the best!. They were able to accomodate our gluten-free friend which is always a plus. All of the ladies enjoyed their dishes and were swept away with the view. I recommend this place for brunch with a view!"

"All my terrible experiences at this restaurant exceeded the max characters.
To sum up this restaurant in a few words: WAAAAAAAAY overpriced for what you get.
I will NEVER return to this restaurant, it was literally one of the most depressing meals that I have ever eaten.
The "crab cakes" would have been good if there was crab in them. Saying that I got a HINT of crab in the midst of the breading and filler would be giving the plate too much credit.
The "epic clam chowder" wasn't any better.
I use quotation marks, as that is what the menu says, rather than reality.
After the shock of the 3 appetizers (totaling pennies short of $50) had passed, I asked for the check before I could be disrespected by the entrees that would be coming shortly."

"The historical building overlooks La Jolla Cove with its requisite sea lions...fun to watch, but quite stinky. The restaurant's outdoor veranda is a great spot when the temp is right and is, mercifully, in the breeze above the animals. Famous for its "Coast Toast," an eggy, thick version with a hint of orange. The Carne Asada Benedict was EXCELLENT, tho. Staff helped carry deliveries up the steep stairs--nice comaraderie was evident. Only went for breakfast- will definitely go again and use it as a spot for visitors. Also left my Amex car, and the restaurant called me before we got off the premises. So honest, too!"

"We were at BV for an early morning breakfast meeting. To begin, this Historic Landmark that was built in 1846 overlooks the La Jolla Cove and so the view is stunning. We specifically chose this restaurant for the menu and of course the delectable Coast Toast. We were very proud to "show off" one of our little treasures. "This has been such a favorite spot so we were excited to return for a friend's gathering for a 50th birthday. "Of the party of 4 of us, 3 ordered the fish tacos and were disappointed that the fish was just a whole piece that was very dry. I had the villa special chowder and it was excellent. "I've been a regular patron of The Brockton Villa for several years now. It's always a fantastic time. Prices are not that bad, and my only issue with the food is that the appetizer was a rather small portion (though was extremely delicious).
Ambience is always fantastic here, though it was a little cold when we went.You also need to be able to get used to the smell of the ocean. It's right next to seal beach, so if you can't stomach that strong fish smell, I would suggest sitting inside. They don't have a lot of room available on the balcony, but it would benefit the customer to have heat lamps out there.
I can't wait for the next special occasion for my gf and I to go back. Love this place."

"On a recent trip to La Jolla, we ate at George's at the Cove, Cody's, La Valencia Terrace, The Cottage and Brockton Villa. In my opinion, BV was the best of the bunch, which is saying a lot because we enjoyed all the restaurants listed above. "It's hard to order anything but Coast Toast when you come here for breakfast/brunch. It is the best french toast in the world. The coffee is great and the service is attentive. A table for two on the balcony is scenic and relaxing, with a full spectrum of swimmers, divers, paddlers, cormorants, pelicans, seals and people gawking at the beautiful cove. I hate to be too complimentary, as I'd love to save the place for locals, but I think the word is out. Be sure to make a reservation, unless you enjoy standing in line."

"we have enjoyed Brockton Villa in the past and did again this time but for one thing- the smell! we had planned on sitting on the veranda to enjoy both the view and the ambiance of the coastal location but were unable to do so because of the overpowering stench from the bird and sea lion stained cliffs below the restaurant. the restaurant has no control over that I realize but La Jolla needs to do something, we won't be back until that is resolved. And, that disturbs us because it is one of our favorite La Jolla destinations."

"I ate here for the first time ever with my Grandmother who was visiting from NY and loved it. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and didn't have any trouble finding parking. We had to wait a bit before we were noticed when we got seated, but overall the food was delicious and the waiters and waitresses were very friendly and polite. The crab cakes were incredible (I could have eaten 3 plates of them) and the Italian salad was larger than I thought it would be, so it ended up being the perfect thing to share. The prices are very reasonable for being right on the coast in La Jolla, too. My Grandmother raved about how she loved her experience and I'm definitely coming back here again."
