"We love Avenue 5; have been here several times, and it's always wonderful. Frank, who also bar tends, was our waiter, remembered us from busy Restaurant Week this year when we sat at the bar; he also recalled what we had that evening and the fact that we bought the lady sitting next to us a glass of wine! This place is a gem; love the small plates. People need to enjoy this wonderful restaurant; a couple of others in the neighborhood may overshadow it by name, but Avenue 5 is terrific. We brought friends visiting from NY for this visit; they loved it!"

"This restaurant had great, very inventive food. I dined with two friends, we all liked the food. One appetizer-Asian chili with fig cornbread was only so-so, flavor of chili was strange but the cornbread was wonderful. We all agreed we would return and/or recommend to friends."
"What a great place! Edgy art hanging on the walls, uptown furnishings, easy side street parking. My daughter and I enjoyed brunch before a show at the Old Globe. I had an omelette and she had a Patty Melt. Unlimited champagne is only $10, but I chose a $5 Bloody Mary, which was generously sized and sufficiently spiked. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant for couples or groups or families with older (over 8) children, and we hope to go there again for drinks or dinner."

"This was our first visit and if we are back in the area again, it will not be our last. We especially liked the fact that many of the entrees were available in a smaller size. Lord knows we all pack on the pounds too easily with the often large portions usually served at dining establishments. We thought the food was just great and the service excellent."

"Great menu of tapas and a diverse selection. As seems to be the trend these days, most of the food was over-sauced to hide what would likely be some fairly tasty natural flavors."
