Quality Meats is a contemporary restaurant that serves a rustic New American menu.
The varied menu focuses on modern interpretations of classic dishes such as Traditional Steak Tartare, Caesar Salad and Roasted Bone Marrow, in addition to several cuts of beef from legendary New York butchers Milton Abeles and Strassburger Meats.
The restaurant's side dishes alone merit a trip with innovative house specialties, including Corn Crème Brulee, Gnocchi and Cheese and Edamame with Mint Salt. The Quality Meats chefs are Craig Koketsu (Lespinasse, Stars) as executive chef and Cory Colton (Lespinasse, St.Regis) on pastry. The restaurant has a warm industrial atmosphere, created by award-winning AvroKO and features intimate dining areas, a comfortable bar area with well-stocked charcuterie bar.

"After researching where to go for a decent steak, we settled on Quality Meats. Admittedly the one person who ordered a steak was satisfied. Otherwise, no one was. . .Lobster tail was dry; ribs were mediocre and one soft shelled crab as a main dish was ridiculous although tasty. The sides were better. . .great sauteed spinach, good waffle fries. But really, we could hardly hear ourselves think, let alone converse. And the cost was simply not worth it. Give me a good local neighborhood restaurant any day.

The restaurant was populated by what appeared to be many businessmen enjoying dinner. There was a brisk bar scene. Simply not what we had hoped for quality-wise."

"For our first visit to NYC we wanted to have a special meal. We found Quality Meats via Trip Advisor and were very happy with our experience.

This is not a cheap restaurant by any means (our bill for 2 courses plus a bottle of wine came to $200, plus tip) but the food and service were worth the expense for a special occasion.

Recommended."

"Food cannot be beaten on quality.

Table was situated beneath the air con units and was quite cold. Despite several inquiries to staff we were not moved until dessert.

Service was a tad slow and did not always believe that the customer was always right (i.e. when asked if they would take our red wine to warm it up a little as it was ice cold, we were told that it would be fine after a while. To me, they should just do as you ask considering the money you are paying and the ease with which this simple request could be done)."

"It was my daughter's 24th birthday and she lives in Manhattan and we (her parents) came in from out of town to take her to Quality Meats. We went there 1 year ago and there was a vegetarian dish on the menu she just loved. Well as it turns out it wasn't on the menu anymore so we were just going to have drinks and an appetizer and go somewhere else for dinner. One of the managers came over and asked if everything was okay and I related the vegetarian pasta story. Before we knew it a young lady was sent over to see if they could create something she would like. They came up with something so we stayed. The bread, the free appetizer, the salmon, the filet with their own steak sauce was fabulous. Yummy desserts. The service is the best!"

"Quality Meats was probably our favourite restaurant in Manhattan on our recent trip. Everything we and our guests ate was delicious and the quality of food was matched by the quality of service - welcoming and attentive. Enjoyed the wine, including the 'mystery' selection which worked out well for us. "Great food, but we had to wait over 30 minutes when we got to the restaurant. Once seated the waiter was so stressed out we barely got eye contact with him. "I had high hopes for Quality Meats. Their steaks are good, still think Palm is better. We had a 5.30pm reservation, the restaurant was only just filling up, yet they jammed us at a tiny table in the back, right between 2 other tables. We asked to move. The host offered us a table in the dark private dining area, which is basically a waiter station. We asked for one closer to the main room. He sighed and threw the menus down on a table and that was pretty much the sum total of our welcome to Quality Meats. Service was definitely sub par. Waiters seems preoccupied with chatting among themselves instead of paying customers any attention. We noticed them try to seat 2 other couples at our original table, both complained! Won't be hurrying back"

"For my wife's Masters Graduation i took her to Quality Meats. I was our first time. The restaurant is impeccable. We had an amazing time. I recommend this place for visitors as well as locals who live in NY. I had the filet mignon which was superb ably prepared, and do not miss out on creamed corn. "Amazing food. My husband's steak was one of the best he has had and I had the tuna entree which was the best tuna that I have ever eaten in my life. Sides were wonderful - roasted beets, corn side dish (can't remember name), asparagus. Great wine list, great service, nice atmosphere. There is a reason this is such a highly rated restaurant. Of course, didn't have any room left for dessert but I am sure that was great as well. I wish that I could remember our waiter's name. He was great! One of the best all around meals we have experienced in our lifetime."

"The chopped salad is a highlight. Not overdressed. Place is noisy, in a good way. Lots of buzz. A little more upscale than your average steakhouse. "Mother's Day dinner at Quality was fabulous! Our server was attentive and gave great recommendations. The appetizers were delicious. We shared crab cakes, tuna, beet salad & crab. "I have dined at Quality Meats several times in the last two years. I have also eaten in steak houses all over the world. Quality Meats is as good as the best steaks houses anywhere. "We've been here 10+ times. It's always consistently very good. A great place for steak but there are other options.
The complimentary bread is very tasty. We usually go for a tuna tartare or sashimi starter, then my girlfriend eats steak, I go for the chicken. We usually have a couple of sides (corn creme brulee and waffle fries). They have an extensive and excellent wine list.
This is in my top 3-5 in Manhattan. I can't fault it - I just wish it was closer to where I live in the West Village."

"I had only one night in New York to spend with a friend that hasn't spent much time in New York. I have been to Quality Meats many times before over the years and the food and services was always of a high standard. This visit, the service was fair but the food served was very disspointing (like it had been sitting a while before being brought to our table). The sides were terrible. "We were in NY for 4 nights and after much research via trip advisor decided on Quality Meats. Front of house were lovely, whilst being taken upstairs to our table I explained to the lady that we'd had a bad night previously elsewhere and were looking forward to celebrating my birthday here on our last night in NY. Once seated 2 glasses of champagne were bought over by our lovely waiter Stephen. The service and food were amazing - my husband’s rib eye was huge and he said the best he's ever eaten. My black bass was gorgeous! We were given a complimentary desert of ice-cream that was out of this world. The whole experience for us was a fantastic, background music cool, ambience buzzy and everyone just enjoying their food!"

"A dinner is not a dinner unless it involves meat according to my boyfriend - after a bit of research I booked Quality Meats as a surprise for our anniversary. We had a drink in the bar prior to our meal - the atmosphere was great and the attention to detail in terms of the decor was spot. The corn Creme brûlée was amazing and has to be tried, they also make a great steak sauce at your table. They range of meat available is great, we had a 64oz porterhouse to share. "It was a family dinner (2 children, 2 adults) and we were celebrating a birthday. The waiter asked if we would like any wine to which we declined (because of the children) and once he saw us decline the wine, he wrote us off as poor tippers and less likely to spend a lot. Despite how much we ordered, I felt judged for not ordering more. But we were stuffed and unable to finish all the food. When the waiter came around with the dessert menu, we had to decline because we were so full. However, I felt the judgmental eyes of our waiter again. He brought out the check immediately, making me feel like I was being rushed out of the restaurant so he could work another table. Good food but you have to put up with judgmental waiters."

"My husband,mom & I have been to quality meats 2 times within the past 4 weeks.We had a great experience the 1st time.We love good steak so we returned Friday nt.We live nearby & we've been to almost all of the great steakhouses in NY.This 2nd experience for my husband & me was as good as the first.However my mom was disappointed.Her steak was tough.She ate what she could of it but she did not want to send it back as we were all eating our meals.She's the one who chose quality meats because she had been there in the past & always had a great meal.My husband & I may return but with all of the great steak places around I don't think my mom will want to go back there.I don't blame her.Nothing was done for her when she let the manager know."

"we come into the city a few times a year to see shows and have dinner, rather than going to the trendy restaurant row, we look for other spots. Quality Meats was just the place. At first they put us at the furthest table of the place, my Dad can't walk all that well, they accomodated us, by keeping us on the bottom level. They brought samples of things to try and the food was delicious, too much to eat,, you can share for sure, salads and sides! Loved the candles lit everywhere! Would definitely go back!!"

"I usually do my best to be open any and all new experiences. Crazy new Chinese revisionist in Park Slope? Check! The most amazing pie crust on the banks of New York City's most toxic river? Absolutely. So it shouldn't have been too much of a stretch for me to go to Quality Meats, a well reviewed and regarded American Nouveau steakhouse in Midtown. Hadn't I enjoyed Keens a historic spot a few blocks south? Aureole? Ma Peche? Whatever the reason, it's taken me until now to finally check out Quality Meats. And I'll be back. Have the lamb if it's on the menu, its brilliant. The wine list is amazing, the cocktails are really well done even though the bar area is small."

"Everything was great. A must get is the scallops so amazing. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 is it seemed as if our server was annoyed that we both didn't get $50 plates with sides. We had an app. The fish and a salad it was plenty of food and kept our bill from being to outrageous."

"My burger was phenomenal. My popcorn (!) was stale. From when my food arrived to when I finished it, my water was not refilled a single time. In addition, the host tried to seat us at one of the worst tables in the house. When we refused, she tried to seat us at another one of the worst tables in the house. We had to tell her that we were skipping out on the restaurant if we were seated at a table again. I was taking a client out and she shamed me. Both tables next to kitchen. Do not get seated upstairs -- it's incredibly loud.

Again, the burger was phenomenal. They are indeed quality meats. The service is poor. My props to the butcher and the kitchen. If only they had a front of house team that had any idea what was going on!"

"I hosted guests at Quality Meats 1 week previously and the service was fun and attentive, the food was prepared as ordered and the ambience was great.

I hosted a guest at Quality Meats 2 evenings ago and the service was poor (no bread was offered until I requested it 30 minutes after seating, water glasses went unfilled and when the meal arrived I realized we did not have any salt or pepper at the table and it took several minutes to get service. My bone in rib steak was ordered medium rare and arrived medium to medium well. Inexcusable for a steak house. No one checked back to see if the steak was cooked as specified.

The yorkshire spinach, the red beet salad and the house made steak sauce were excellent. I will try once again."

"Had a great meal with some clients and friends. Was a bit too loud at first but died down considerably as the tables emptied. Food is outstanding although sides were a bit small compared to other Steak houses in the city. Bar was hopping, decor is very cool, rustic and comfortable, Wait staff was attentive. "I had been to Quality Meats several years ago and remember the food being much better. We were a party of 3 all ordered steaks and all concluded that the steak was simply not that tasty.
