Old Fort Pub
Old Fort Pub is a charming restaurant with one of the best views on Hilton Head Island. Perched on the banks of the Intra-coastal Waterway, it showcases unrivaled nightly sunsets and a rich history. So named for the adjacent Civil War shore battery, Fort Mitchel, the restaurant’s foyer is decorated with historic photos depicting the “War of Northern Aggression".
Previously featured on The Food Network and in other notable publications, the Old Fort Pub has become a tradition for over 35 years. Guests enjoy Chef Keith Josefiak’s “New Southern” favorites inspired with influences from around the globe. An excellent choice for a celebrating a birthday, holiday or a romantic evening.

"The scenic view of this restaurant adds to the ambiance. Request a table in the front room that overlooks the water. Our service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. Our only complaint was that many of the entree accompaniments were very sophisticated and not side dishes we ate."

"First, the location - on Skull Creek with great sunset views. A window table is nice but in reality, all the tables have a wonderful view. Outside bar area with nice happy hour options if you want to go that route. And then the food - we have not had a bad meal in all of the times that we have eaten at Old Fort Pub. Tried the fried green tomatoes for the first time, excellent. All of the fish dishes are also excellent and there is a nice selection of non-fish dishes. All of the dishes are excellently prepared and presented. It is a very special place!"

"Old Fort Pub is one of the best restaurant on Hilton Head. Set on the bay, it provides beautiful sunset views from the dining room. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and helpful in making our dinner selections. The courses were served at a leisurely pace allowing us to enjoy the view and the ambiance without feeling rushed.
Outside of the restaurant is a bar area where you can have a pre-dinner drink with a wonderful view.
The appetizer and dinner selection was very good. A nice choice of fresh seafood is complemented by other choices such as duck, beef, etc. The dessert options looked wonderful but we were too full to try any.

"This restaurant has the most amazing setting under ancient live oaks and on the water's edge. We sat on the balcony and watched the sun set over Skull Creek as a few small boats headed toward their homes. Our server was extremely professional but friendly and paced the evening perfectly. Our fish entrees were excellent as was the fried green tomato appetizer and the key lime tart. The tables inside are lovely with white tablecloths and also have a great water view. The property is historic, and after dinner we walked up through the woods to the embankment with cannons that was built during the Civil War by the Union soldiers. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation. It is a very special place."

"We eat at the Old Fort on every one of our visits to Hilton Head and are never disappointed. The restaurant sits on Skull Creek and has big picture windows looking out onto the creek through 2 large antebellum-style trees. There is a varied menu of seafood and steaks, beautifully prepared and presented. A leisurely, no rush romantic dinner."

"We were met the door by very gracious hostess' The service was good. The "She Crab Soup" was creamy and tasty. Each of the Lamb recipients ordered the temperature medium rare, both were cooked well. As for the Pork, it was ordered medium but it came well done and a bit dry. Highly recommend that you are firm on the temp you want on your meat. They cook things a bit longer than most kitchens. The trout was out of this world..Get the cheesecake, Yum!
The atmosphere was relaxed, upscale and very nice. The water views were lovely. We would go back to this restaurant but the next time I go I will order the Shrimp and Grits...it looked really great on the next table. Of course, I may just have the trout, if offered, it was great."

"Tried Sunday Brunch for the first time on my last visit over Memorial Day. Started with a Mimosa while sitting out on the deck. Brunch was a full rack of smoked baby back ribs, cut in half with a different BBQ sauce on each. The slaw was tangy and divine. A side of French fries were shoestring cut--perfectly crunchy and still hot. Reasonably priced and enough for two more meals!
Old Fort has a great appetizer menu, perfect for drinks at the bar. Beware, this is not a late night venue. They close early, but the bartender makes the visit even more fun. Tip--Try the Sunset Martini!"

"I booked this reservation for my parents who had never been to Old Fort Pub before. Their experience was spoiled by a very snobby server. She chastised their first choices when ordering, and they were not very thrilled by her recommendations, and when my father asked if they had sweet tea (a southern staple) was told, "We only have tea, which should give you an idea of our typical clientele."
My wife and I had our first meal at the Old Fort Pub last August while celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and had a tremendous experience with both the service and the food. We were very saddened that my parents did not have a similar experience to ours."

"My wife and I enjoyed the evening at Old Fort Pub. We had a reservation and arrived early, so we went up to the observation deck and waited there for the call to dinner. "We've been coming to this restaurant on periodic visits to Hilton Head for over 30 years. It has been very consistent throughout that time. Very good food and service with an outstanding view of Skull Creek; particularly at sunset. The ruins of Old Fort Mitchell next door make for a fun place to take kids either before or after dinner. We've actually been known to detour 30 miles off I95 just to have lunch here and take in the view!"

"The food here was fine, but not great. The crawfish cakes were mostly breading, so skip them. Service was warm and friendly, though the sommelier's heavy perfume was overbearing in general and inexcusable for someone in her position. For a gorgeous setting, this can't be beat."

"We arrived and the restaurant is lovely, the bartender Jerry is fabulous, drinks were great. We were seated, ordered appetizers and they were delicious. And then it took more than 45 minutes for the entrees. My friends had ordered lamb and it was tasty but lukewarm. My shrimp with pasta was delicious. But the wait was unacceptable for a restaurant of its category. I spoke with the manager, she only said that she would talk to the kitchen. We left and had dessert and after dinner drinks at our hotel. It was probably a waiter and kitchen error but we had to call the waiter because he hd not come by for all that time. Oh well maybe he and the kitchen went on break."

"We have been to the Old Fort Pub several time and this is the first time that I found the service inadequate - the waiter was slow, he seem not interested to serving us - we waited for 15 - 20 minutes before he would take our order, we had to ask about the specials, ask for refills of water etc. We had an 8 pm reservation and was not seated until 8:30 pm as a result we were the last guests in the place and we felt rush to leave as the staff was trying to close and we did not see our waiter after he took our dessert order."

"We were celebrating two birthdays in our group of four and I had asked for menus without prices in my OT reservation. The restaurant was prepared when we arrived and presented them without a hitch. The waiter was very helpful with suggestions on both food and wine for those who had not been there before. Our table was window front as requested and we had a beautiful view of the sunset over Skull Creek. The meal was paced well and the food absolutely delicious. Our entrees varied from trout, to sesame encrusted salmon, to pork loin and the sirloin and all were prepared well, presented beautifully and tasted delicious. We will be back! Thank you Old Fort Pub for a wonderful evening."

At times one can take a great culinary skill for granted. This trip reminded me of the superb execution the chef has with cream based dishes. I had the cucumber and dill soup and it was rich without being cloying. The sauce on my wife's trout (healthy portion, two fillets) was again rich with cherry tomatoes and field mushrooms. The flavor of these ingredients was evident on the palate and the sauce was a compliment rather than prominent. Wonderful.
Ask for Fili as your waiter. He loves what he does and smiles with his eyes."
