Quatrefoil
Chefs Fraser Macfarlane and Georgina Mitropoulos opened Quatrefoil Restaurant in May, 2010. Since then, the restaurant has been named among the top 10 best new Canadian restaurants of 2010 by enRoute Magazine, and among the top 10 best new restaurants of 2011 in Toronto by Toronto Life magazine. Quatrefoil Restaurant is also featured as a prime dining destination in the 2011 edition of Where to Eat in Canada. Located in the quaint community of Dundas, Ontario, the restaurant offers contemporary French cuisine in a charming heritage home turned modern eatery. Macfarlane and Mitropoulos, a husband-and-wife team, met in the kitchen of Toronto's Scaramouche Restaurant, before heading to Europe to seek out new food styles and experiences. Together, the pair has cooked in some of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe, training under notable chefs such as Marco Pierre White, Gordon Ramsay and Gary Hollihead.

"Everything about our experience there was outstanding. The food was superb and the service was fantastic. We sat in the upstairs area, which was full, and it was a bit noisy, but the noise level came down after a while. The noise certainly wasn't a deal breaker at all. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody."

"I was looking for a memorable dining experience with a French flair. Quatrefoil exceeded my expectations. It is truly fine dining at its luxurious best. Everything is considered throughout the visit. The wine list is extensive and the server so well versed in how the wine will compliment your meal and suit your tastes. The pacing of each course and all the little extras made the evening extra special. I have never tasted such heavenly fresh baked bread. Our appetizers, main courses, and desserts were picture worthy, so artfully presented. The surprising thing was the generous portions too. We definitely were not rushed and couldn't have been happier with our first visit. We will be recommending Quatrefoil to all our friends! Well done."

"Every morsel from appetizer through dessert was delicious and beautifully presented. We chose the special entree of tempura crusted halibut. Our waiter explained the pea sprout fume and the honey mushrooms, both new to us. When the list of ingredients went on to include chorizo, I questioned that one. Then I found out why. The layering of flavours, the colours and textures made this meal one of the best we have ever been served. Our waiter, Matt, could not have been more helpful. Higher end in price, highest end in dining."

"This was the perfect spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and welcoming as ever. I started with the scallops and my husband with the fois gras torchon, followed by beef tenderloin and the boneless pork chop and crispy belly, respectively. All dishes were beautfiful, well balanced, and most of all delicious! We finished off our wonderful meal by sharing the vanilla creme brûlée, which did not disappoint. We would definitely recommend Quatrefoil as a great place for a romantic, special occasion meal."

"Fantastic Service; greeted by a charming hostess who turned out to be the owner. That was very pleasing to know how much care is put in by the owner herself. Very friendly staff! Matt, our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and polite. The setting was beautiful, elegant- not over the top. I had the sweetbreads which were delicious, the pheasant which was extremely flavourful and some of my girlfriends gnocchi which was something I wish I had ordered on top of my meal! For dessert we had creme brulee. THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. I personally thanked the Sous Chef Dmitry, that night. The Wednesday service is just as great as weekend service. Had a drink after and wow they have a great selection of wine. Highly recommend Quatrefoil to everyone!"

"What a surpise we had when going there for lunch after attending a recent business meeting. From walking in the door up until leaving all teh staff treated us beautifully. There is a prix fixe menu for $30 which is excellent and food portions are just right. The wait staff were attentive but not overbearing and the food was delivered at a good pace, not too fast and not too slow, just right. I am making sure to come back here from my home which is an hours drive as that was how good the food was. I highly recommend this restaurant."

"The food was excellent, well prepared, beautifully presented. There was a great variety on every plate and always a surprise or two for the palette. Perhaps an overindulgence in sugary sauces but overall I was very impressed. However, we were disappointed by the ambience. The room is very noisy when full as it was when we visited. The table my wife was facing took about a dozen flash photos pointing directly at her - very annoying. One patron at a nearby table was so loud I could hear him more clearly than my wife across the table. The restaurant could do more to soften the sound levels. Also, when the place is full turn off the music. It just adds to the roar. When we go back we will avoid weekends just to have a quieter meal."

"We received a gift certificate for Xmas, and after hearing mixed reviews on this restaurant, I was not really looking forward to going. But do not always go by what you hear, experience the venue on your own and draw your own conclusions. I can say I am extremely glad I did and my wife and I have put this place as one of our top three places to eat and will and have certainly reccoment it to others."

"My husband and I were celebrating a significant birthday ( his not mine, please) along with our dear friends. What a beyond the limits experience it was.
Reuben, our server, was exceptionally attentive and helpful with his suggestions and overall knowledge.
The food was a visiual delight as well as delicious.

"Excellent as always! Best mussels I have ever had - so big, juicy and delicious. Very generous lunch portions. Wonderful french service and food. We were treated to mimosas by the lovely owner, Georgina! We were accommodated at the table we requested. A wonderful experience we highly recommend everyone to try and judge for themselves."
