Sorella is the "sister" conceived on a journey throughout Northern Italy. We found a love for Piedmont's cafe culture that insisted we bring the feeling back to New York. The small villages and cities of Piedmont were the only places in the world we found that we loved even remotely as much as we love Manhattan.
Sorella is our family. We are connected not by blood, but by a mutual love for tasty food and wine. Artisanal products of every sort have a permanent place in our cozy, sparkly lower east side home. We built our home on memories, inside jokes, and as much friggin wine paraphernalia as possible. We thrive to make every client a member of our little family...
"If there is better Northern Italian pasta in New York City I sure don't know of it. I get to Sorella once or twice a year and each time wonder why I don't go more often. If anything, they are getting better. My out of town friends loved it, too. Odd location means you can get a table here when other places of this caliber are full. But you should go to Sorella even if Babbo has room."

"Everything from food to decor was great. Service was ever present but not invasive, bartender was friendly, and the broccoli dish and the Gnudi (boiled ricotta flowerettes) were fabulous and my Dante's lamb ragu on homemade pasta was also v good. Everything is made with loving care and love. I'd definitely go back and hope to soon!"

"A really delicious, understated meal -- wonderful from beginning to end. The wine list is quite good, and all of our dishes were fresh, unusual, yet not overly crafted."

"We arrived late to our reservation because of awful city traffic. The hostess could not have been nicer and more accommodating. Its a pretty small place, but its cozy and has a welcoming atmosphere. The food and service were outstanding! One of our friends has allergies and again the wait staff was on top of their game and bent over backwards to make sure we were all comfortable and happy! They'll see us again!"

"Chef Hearst is astounding. Love her, love her food. The whole experience was perfection. Lamb ragu - yum. Broccoli appetizer was absolutely confounding in its simple goodness. How on earth did she turn broccoli into something that made you want to lick the plate? Where did the kick come from? Homemade pasta stuffed with bacala? Whaaaaat? Oh man and the donuts at the end....perfect. Shamefully could have eaten 10 of those. Salted carmel gelati also extreme yum. The wait staff was very attentive without getting on your nerves in the least. They were extremely knowledgeable and engaging. Would go back anytime. Plan on working out the next day though. It's all about balance :)"

"The food was amazing! I enjoyed every bite. The wait staff was very attentive and down to earth. This is not a pretentious place. I was a little annoyed by one guest who spoke very loud in the small dining room. ;) Still, he left a little while after."

"We enjoyed our dinner however we had wished the portions were slightly larger. Additionally we realized that the wine our server suggested and had us taste was not the wine she ended up pouring at our table."

"Great cocktails. Loved the Cherry Godmother. The Lamb Tajarin may be one of the best pasta dishes in NY! My Guinea Hen with Black Lentils was perfect as well. Don't forget the desserts either. Overall, a great friendly place with fantastic food."

"Great place. We were running a bit late and called the restaurant to let them know. They were understanding and held our table until we arrived. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Our waitress was very knowledgable with the wine list and gave great recommendations."

"Good neighbourhood place with a choice of prix fixe menu or a la carte. Great pastas and risotto . Nice arugula salad with Parmesan Limited mains but good quality. Desserts to heavy on the chocolate theme. Service good. Ambiance is great to have a romantic dinner and be able to talk to your dining companion. Ask for a table in the back."

"Love love love this restaurant! I no longer live in NYC but when I go back I always try to stop by Sorella. I enjoy the inventive side dishes (the brussel sprouts and potatoes were both divine!) and the pastas are lovely - have anything with spicy pork! We had s cheese and meat plate this time too, which was excellent but quite pricey.
The other amazing thing about Sorella is their ice cream - soooo good! The combinations are delicious and it's always a good idea to save room for dessert. The apple sorbet was excellent too (not so keen on the chocolate sorbet though, but that might be me.)
The service was excellent as ever - Kyle was lovely and lots of fun."

"It was amazing! I'm still thinking of the Agnolotti with the celery root puree. Often when a place is very strong on the savory they're not so strong on the sweets, but Sorella's desserts were fabulous."

"The menu offers many choices, we ordered 5 items, and everything was very good. The wine list is well chosen and includes most Italian regions. We would definitely return to try more food. My only complaint is that the loud rock music seemed an odd choice for late on a Sunday evening."

"We had a really nice pre-valentines dinner at this restaurant. The service was very good. The wait staff and bar staff were down to earth and genuinely interested in helping us pick out the best plates to share. The fried broccoli dish was so good! I highly recommend this. I'm not sure if this place would be good for groups with more than 8 people, but it would be a fun place for a date night or girls night out."

"My boyfriend and I have been going to Sorella for a while and we are never disappointed. The staff is super rad and the food is out of this world. Highly recommend the Ginsalata and Fried Broccoli. Also can't go wrong with the Gellato for dessert!"

"Was there for Valentine's Day, so it was a prefixed menu. I liked the decor and it was a good, romantic setting. The tables were set a bit close together and the music selection was a bit random, but nothing major. Food was not that great other than the oxtail. Definitely no where near worth the price."

"This place was AWESOME! I was very disappointed that we couldn't eat here again before we left New York! The food was delectable & the service was impeccable. Would go back 100 times over. They were also the only place who took notice of our anniversary which was a nice touch. Thank you Sorella for a great memorable dinner!"

"The food is really, really outstanding here. There's a reason everyone raves about the Broccoli Fritto -- flash-deepfried with a garlic aili and cheese. Everything we had was terrific.
It's a small, intimate place with two small separated room. The staff was chilled, relaxed and friendly, but professional. But we had a good time and would definitely go back. The food was that brilliant. It's a bit pricey, so if that bothers you, go somewhere else. I had a lamb ragu pasta that was great. Mocha gelato with brownie bites for dessert was heavenly. Nice wines."
