Scalini Fedeli
Scalini Fedeli ranked among New York's finest restaurants since its opening in early 2004, taking Italian cuisine to new heights. Rewarded with the highest overall ratings in the Zagat Survey, Scalini Fedeli has been granted one star by the Michelin guide in it's inaugural 2006 issue.
The inviting decor features vaulted ceilings and European antiques and provides the perfect setting for chef Michael Cetrulo's delightful cuisine which offers the finest ingredients coupled with a confidence and grace that ensures your meal will be a memorable one.
Menu highlights include soft egg yolk raviolo with ricotta and truffle butter and New York's finest venison chop in a port wine and balsamic vinegar sauce with toasted hazelnuts, sautéed spinach and roasted Mission figs.
The 350-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy but also does justice to the best American wineries.

"I'm not sure why everyone is would about this place. The food is ok at best, I felt like I was eating wedding food. The server was somewhat understanding that we weren't enjoying ourselves and tried to better the experience. However, food and ambience just weren't what was expecting."

"Relaxed but prompt and friendly service, excellent food at a very reasonable prix fixe in a lovely setting. I requested a quiet table for my birthday for two and we were given exactly that. Every course was delicious and it was difficult to choose from the extensive menu. We each got something different so we could try many of the dishes out and they were all wonderful. We went early evening and the noise level was quiet, but got a bit louder as more people arrived. Not outrageously noisy though. We were there for almost four hours and were not hurried on our way. The staff could not have been kinder. Would most definitely go back. A big thank you to Scalini Fedeli for a lovely birthday dinner."

"Second time here. Little known restaurant but 10+ dining experience. Wonderful, professional service. Food is outstanding -- equals the best high end Italian in the City. Prices are fair, considering. Ate at Il Mulino last week, and whereas both are excellent, Scalini is better "value" with a FAR more accessible wine list for normal people. Prix Fix menu is a bargain. Be aware, there is no bar here, just a little back room where you can have a pre-dinner cocktail -- it's quite nice, but small with no real seating."

"Was taken to Scalini Fedeli for a special birthday. The food was wonderful and the selection was quite varied. Tables were sufficiently far apart so that it was possible to have pleasant conversation at the table. The bill had a fairly substantial error--which I hope was just a mistake. They charged, (and corrected after brought to their attention) us for an extra bottle of rather expensive wine that we were drinking. While they did correct the bill there were no overt apologies made. A restaurant of this caliber should not be making those kind of errors."

"My girlfriend and I came to Scalini Fedeli for a romantic dinner for two, and were very impressed with all aspects of the experience. It is not cheap, but it was well worth it. We will definately make it a point to come back, and probably sooner rather than later."

The sauce or purée it was on was pretty great though. Dessert -- again, just ok. Definitely not worth our $325 tab."

"I took a friend of mine here to celebrate a recent promotion. I was incredibly disappointed in the way in which we felt rushed throughout the meal. I would not expect such low class behavior at a restaurant like this. As soon as we sat down, they were hounding us to order and select wine etc. We wanted to enjoy a glass of champagne first. Instead, the waiter was quite pushy and was urging us to order and especially select the wine ASAP.the appetizers came out before we even opened the bottle of wine that we ordered. we barely had time to put the fork down for the appetizer and the entree was being served. the food was excellent and the wine list is remarkable; however, it was clear to me they were trying to get us "in and out" in 45 min"

"I thought food was pretty good, not amazing though. Dinner cost more than the $70 pre fix between coffee, 3 drinks. What bothered me was there was a few items on the menu that were extra, for examble an appetizer which was risotto with truffle and pruisutto was $16 extra. To me pre fix menu should include everything on the menu. Desserts were all very good. I also would of liked to see more variety of seafood and pasta dishes on the menu. Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience but wouldn't go out of my way to go back."

"All I can say is WOW... I read reviews on Yelp and decided to book for our anniversary dinner while visiting NYC. So glad I did! This was quite possibly the best meal I ever had in my life. From the pre-appetizer porcini stuffed raviolo with the delectable buttery sauce, to the risotto cooked to perfection, to the parmesan crusted pork with fresh peas and nuts that was just the perfect combination of ingredients... I am still dreaming about this meal weeks later."

"A lovely meal, very old-school fancy Italian. It's prix-fixe and it's all very delicious. The dining space is very romantic, with arched ceilings and low lighting. One suggestion would be to have the waiters, not the manager, handle the sommelier duties. They seemed much more knowledgeable."

"Atmosphere small and cozy, the service was very good. I got the crabmeat neapolitan for appetizer. Lump crabmeat that wsa very fresh and the sauce complemented it but was not overpowering. A light dish. I got the red snapper special in a vegetable broth. All was very nice, but the fish was breaded and pan fried. This could have taken away from the fresh fish flavor. They gave us two complementary raviolis with a cream truffle sauce. They were very good but very rich. They also gave us complimentary dessert wine and pineapple gelato before our actual dessert came. This was very nice, but it was just too much food for me! Not a bad thing for a restaurant though. Overall very good, I would go back."

"the service was terrific, the decor was beautiful, the food presentation was wonderful
but my veal medallions were just a bit too thick and chewy and my wifes duck was not as tender as it could have been alternatively my pasta dish was a sublime mix of spicy and exotic flavors the amuse bouche of ravioli stuffed with truffles in foam was spectacular
maybe it was an off night for us and them
we really wanted to be blown away by the experience and it just didnt happen"

"What a wonderful dining experience we had! I took my boyfriend for his birthday and everything from food to service was top notch.
From the moment we arrived we were made feel special and welcome . This was one of the best dining experiences we ever had.
The food was outstanding, surprisingly large portions. We ordered the crab pasta appetizer and also the squid ink pappardelle and the kitchen sent us the risotto as well. All three dishes were phenomenal.
The main courses were equally great. I can not find a bad thing to say at all about this restaurant. The web site shows some dated decor that does not do the true space justice. It seems they got new chairs and lost the awful ballony window treatments. Will be back for sure."

"Pretty disappointing for the price. Food was nothing special. Service was fine except for the hostess. Even the way she was dressed- white very tight tank top white tight pants just didn't seem to suit the restaurant atmosphere. And she wasn't very pleasant or welcoming.
