"Nice place for brunch. The open face omelet was yummy (one friend had it with the ham on the side, very good ham). Husband had the regular breakfast, and the sausage and eggs were very tasty. I had the cheddar bacon waffles, which were very good waffles, but I didn't really taste any cheddar or bacon. Had the "Dr's Orders breakfast drink, which was outstanding."

"The atmosphere was nice. We sat upstairs behind the bar at the window, which was open and the view was great. My only problem was the food... it was probably the worst food I've eaten in a long time. I had the Chicken and Rib combo with Broccoli and Mac and Cheese. The best thing I ate was the Broccoli!!! I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, nor would I go back again. Sadly disappointed!"

"We stopped at Smokin Betty's on the recommendation of my daughter - a Temple student. We were extremely impressed with the service and the quality of the food. Definitely a neighborhood gem that I would not hesitate to eat at again, The quality of meat in their burgers was outstanding and their bread pudding (which I do not normally eat) was amazing. Great service - great food in a laid back atmosphere. Advice - if the menu item is preceded by the word Betty's try it!"

"Passed this restautant many times, but after dining here will definitely return, love the menu. The tacos were delciious, had a nice beet and goat cheese salad which was large enough to share between my husband and I (loved the extra touches of carmalized shallots and pistachios). The grill salmon was excellent with the best sweet potato fries in the city, skin on and not greasy."

"This was my first barbeque foray in Philadelphia since my recent trips to Kansas City and Dallas. This was as good as Dallas but not nearly up to Kansas City. I enjoyed chicken and ribs (chicken was very good, ribs were good) and my partner had fish taco's that were good (I thought the sauce was very good). The chicken was small but juicy and flavorfull. Ribs were crispy outside but the sauce was boring. I couldn't find the smoke ring that was evident in Kansas City ribs. The cheese steak egg rolls were outstanding (and a surprise). The home made ice cream was delicious. I found a terrific beer on tap - Alagash White. My only fault is that the entres were served before we had time to eat the egg roll"

"Service very good especially in view of the fact that our group of 5 had to get to the theatre. Nice the restaurant offers a discount for theater-goers. Great food choices and excellent value for money. Several of us found appetizers ample for dinner. Do not much like the "sticky" veneer of the tables but otherwise a good choice for a bite to eat. This is our second time visiting and we anticipate using Smokin' Betty's regularly for our pre-theatre dinners."

"This was my second time visiting. Service was very slow, and waiters seemed disinterested in checking in with their tables other than for orders ad checks. The new hostess up front was the only person who had a sense of urgency, quickly cleaning and moving tables, etc. I actually watched a server watch the hostess clear his glasses and then grabbed his tip...sad behavior for a server! I hope management catches on to this and addresses it because the food is good, but as a customer, most people are return customers because of service and experience. Fish tacos are amazing!!!"

"Everything about this restaurant was great except the noise level. Our food (BBQ sliders and mahi mahi tacos) was fantastic, our server was flawless, we were seated immediately, and every staff member we encountered was friendly. We just could not tolerate the noise level. Not sure if it is always like this on a Friday night, but we had to scream to be heard by our server, and even at our tiny table for two, we were yelling just to try to have a conversation. We ate quickly and did not order dessert, which was a shame because the dessert menu had several great looking items. Also disappointed that they were not offering the beer flights shown on their online menu."

"Great for a group - went for my birthday and had a few adjustments to the headcount at the last minute... Added people, removed people, etc. They were totally flexible. Open Table doesn't let you add more than 10 people, but they can definitely handle larger parties - just call!

"This turducken burger they have on the menu, in the middle of menu, is hilarious. However despite the fact that part of the reason I ordered it was to be sarcastic, it was actually very good, and I would get it again.
My co-workers had grilled cheese and soup, the grilled cheese was grilled cheese, the soup was really good.
This burger, is not something to miss, but it's big, you might have to share it unless you're really hungry. The three of us shared it, it made all of us smile.

"This has been my third visit to Smokin' Betty's and it will not be my last! Service has always been outstanding and I've had a different server each time. Very attentive but not overly so. There were 5 in my group and each of us enjoyed our meal. The beet salad with goat cheese is awesome! The pistachios add just the right amount of crunch and flavor. Also, you don't leave the restaurant with an empty wallet. Prices are reasonable for food and alcohol."

"Great first experience. Heard about the place from friends who love it as well. Excellent food, large portions. Very friendly and attentive service. Good beer selection and variety. Everyone enjoyed their meals whether it was a burger or an entree. Side dishes were all delicious too."

"We had been looking for a new before theater dinner spot for some time and were we ever pleased with Smokin' Betty's! A very short three block walk from Walnut Street theater, the food lived up to the billing. I enjoyed a Turduckin burger (!), certainly a delicious first for me and my lady enjoyed a salmon entree that compared to some of the better ones she's had in the past. Attentive service, a theater-goers discount of 10% that I was unaware of... this was a real winner as far as we were concerned and we'll be certain to return."

"Nothing special. Went on a whim after work - fund it searching on Open Table. Food just OK. Mussels came out cold and when we told the server that when paying our bill, it didn't seem to matter to him. Would o back if I was in the neighborhood or walking by but wouldn't do so otherwise."

"Smokin Betty's is a great neighborhood staple. Their American Bistro fare is delicious, easy to understand and easy to love. The service is usually great but sometimes whey they're extra busy they seem a little understaffed. My last experience there was FANTASTIC! I had the shrimp skewers special and it was even better than I imagined. Try the fish tacos, they're AMAZING."

"Although, we don't live in Philadelphia we have eaten here at least 4 times. Friday and Saturday nights are pretty loud but what else would you expect. The beer and cocktail menu is varied. A favorite drink is the Bulleitproof. We brought our young kids here. They both love the kids selections. This past Friday we had an excellent waiter who was friendly and attentive. We will go again when we are next in Philly."

"We took our 3 kids, ages 9 and 7, for dinner to Smokin Betty's twice now. Both times the food has been wonderful and the service excellent. The beer selection is also great. The staff is very friendly and extremely accomodating. This was my first time using Open Table and I loved that experience as well."
