"My only negative comment would be that we had a 3 p.m. reservation on a Sunday.
When we arrived there was one other table occupied. We were given a table in the back corner of the restaurant. When I said that I would not sit there, they said, "Let's see what we have available". Magically, we got a table by the windows. During our 1 1/2 hours there, only one other table became occupied. I think they save the best tables for their regular customers. Other wise, the food is consistantly good."

"We were given a $100 gift certificate, so we decided to use it for the Twilight dinner. We planned on ordering two different appetizers and sharing. We ordered mussels and fish tacos. Out came one fish taco and a nice bowl of delicious mussels. The menu did say fish tacos.The hostess came over and did send over another taco. My husband ordered the special of the night,the fluke. What he received was a teeny,tiny piece of fish. You should be ashamed of yourself to think that was an adult portion. It was kid size. My porkchop was satisfactory,nothing special.Try serving some vinegar peppers and sauce on it. Now that would be delicious! The two desserts we ordered were very good. "Have been to west end cafe many times and it has never been disappointing. Went with a friend who had never been there before. She said "wow,I never saw it before, I could have booked this for my rehearsal dinner!" It he restaurant is unfortunately nestled in the corner of a stripe mall on glen cove road, but once inside you feel like you are in a top notch restaurant: pleasant decor, good food, nicely presented, good menus options and fine service. We went on a Monday night and it was filled. We stayed there for 4 hours and were not rushed out, which was nice and unusual! The capaccino was beautiful in large cup and there is a $31.00 prix fix, early bird menu."

"The food at West End Cafe is really great and I always know what to expect when dining there. My favorites are the portobello mushroom, followed by the short ribs, pork chop or steak. Fish usually isn't my first choice, but my family loves their fish dishes as well. When you take people there, they may be discouraged since it's in a strip mall but once inside, you'd never know it and definitely won't be disappointed. I'm sure you'll have a great dining experience and leave full and happy!"

"I visited last Saturday with friends after recommending the place. It was perfect last time I went but this time not so. I will start by saying the place is vibrant and the service by Cat was excellent...Now for the food: They no longer have the Duck Tacos which were out of this world. They replaced them with Duck Sliders which honestly had no Duck taste and were not memorable. One person had the Risotta with Shrimp and the risotto was mushy and starchy, not at all acceptable. The same for the Scallops on Risotto. Seafood fine but risotto sloppy. I ordered the Rack of Lamb cause it looked so good passing by. Great presentation but it had no seasoned taste or Jus in the plate to give it some..boring! This is a fine restaurant BUT...."

"As always, the food was excellent. The Sunday Twilight menu is a winner. I had requested a table for four, on the upper level next to the wall, and that seating was waiting for us...on a busy Sunday evening!!

"I had reservations through Open Table for 7pm, we were seated 20 mintues later, which is not too long of a wait. It was crowded, but we were attended to quickly and our drink orders were taken quickly. They had antique type bottles on the table filled with tap water, very pretty, and fresh roses on the table. There was a mixed crowd for a Sat pm. There were couples and mostly groups of women... ladies nite out kind of nite. Crowd for the most part was on the older side.. 40 through 70. The waitstaff was very attentive, explained all the dinner/appetizer specials, etc. The food was excellent quality and the portions were very generous, even though a bit pricy. Worth it for sure!"

"For the first time, I was disappointed in the food. I normally have a great experience at this restaurant, but this lunch experience was well below my past experiences with this otherwise fine neighborhood gem. Although the rolls that were delivered were warm, they were, in fact, stale and hard inside. The salads we had were just okay. The pineapple was sparse and did not appear to be fresh."
