Executive Chef Loseto’s innovative ‘Toronto Cuisine’ is devoted to seasonal, natural, local, and sustainable food from the City’s markets. “This means that the food is inspired not only by the seasons but also the variety of products available from many cultures and from around the world.” – Executive Chef Loseto; This principle of fresh and eclectic variety are brought to the tables of our patrons.
Guests are encouraged to order from a five, seven, or ten course tasting menu in order to fully explore the bold flavours and textures of Chef Loseto’s cooking. Wine pairings carefully selected by JP Potters, GM & Sommelier, George, are a wonderful addition to the tasting experience. The wine program is focused on quality, sustainability and terroir. Wines are sourced from small suppliers with a focus on unique appellations and varietals. At the table one of our five sommeliers will ensure selections are perfectly paired to the unique cuisine of Executive Chef Loseto.

"I went to George to celebrate a friend's birthday and wanted a great food experience. Service was attentive and personalized, without being intrusive; staff were knowledgeable about the food and beverages and in doubt would seek the answer to our questions. We ordered the tasting menu paired with wines. Interestingly we each got different meals for form one another with every single course, making the experience even more unique. The wine pairings were exquisite. My only remark would be that I wished my glass got a little bit more wine with each course. I would recommend not saying no to the foie grass when offered, it was divine! I highly recommend this restaurant!"

"My husband and I went to George for his 50th birthday! Having just returned from the Niagra Wine region, I wanted a place that did wine and food pairings. We both love fine food (call us foodies) and were not disappointed by the very delish combinations of food served and the wonderful wine choices that accompanied each course. The waiter and somalier were knowledgable and friendly. We had a wonderful evening and would recommend George to others!"

"We were there for our anniversary and they made the occasion a memorable one. Both of us ordered the 7-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Each course had different dishes so that we could appreciate both dishes. The wine pairing were perfect and the staff took the time to explain the history for each one. They were perfectly paired in my opinion. I loved the sherry! We couldn't have picked a more perfect place and setting. The kitchen is open so one can view everything. Kudos to the chefs and staff for their delicious dishes and quick service. The restaurant is very well organized and efficient. It's not wheelchair friendly as you need to climb a few steps to get in but try are more than willing to help out."

"We've been to George before, and this time again everything was perfect. Our waiter Phil was extremely knowledgeable and patient as well as efficient, and the service was perfect. My girlfriend started with the Dungeness Crab and I had the house salad, and then I had the black cod for the second course, followed by the bison for me and the wild salmon for my girlfriend. For dessert we shared the Coconut Banana Tart. We tried several of the wines by the glass (3 oz), and they were great as well. Can't wait to go back!"

"The dishes/chefs are outstanding, absolutely perfect! Service on the other hand is atrocious! I have debated in my mind several times whether I would return here. Very unfortunate experience w waiter, manager, and sommeliers. We could have ordered more but service was no where to be found except for the random check in after 30 minutes had passed. A dinner which would have normally taken 1 hours took over 3 hours!!!"

"We had the best experience here. The 7-course tasting menu with wine pairings were amazing - every bite was exquisite. The restaurant itself was lovely and had a romantic atmosphere but was not pretentious at all.
For a wonderful (but not inexpensive) meal of highest quality, choose George! I would recommend it to all my friends and we will certainly be back."

"George is always our choice for special occasion intimate dining. We usually select and enjoy the chef's tasting menu since it takes away the need to limit yourself to a known item as shown on most dining menus. Rather, we focus on having the surprise offering for each course and delight in conversing over if we would "choose" such an item if offered on the menu, which normally we may not be brave enough to try."

"After reading multiple reviews, I expected great food and great services. However, I wasn't prepared for the level of excellence demonstrated in both regards. The food was incredible and the service was amazing. "I travel to Toronto regualrly and cant believe I didnt knoww about George before now (thank you Open Tbale !).

"We were a group of "older women" - friends from high school - out for dinner to "catch up". We were seated in a nice quieter part of the restaurant at a great round table. Our waiter was very attentive without being intrusive and even brought us a complimentary plate of cookies at the end of the meal. The food was delicious and although the restaurant was busy (Friday night), it was quiet enough that we could talk (and hear each other) very easily. Would definitely go back!"

"We went to George to celebrate our 3 year anniversary. When booking through Open Table I noted it was our anniversary dinner. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted and seated in a cozy and intimate booth table with privacy curtains. It truly felt like we had the place to ourselves. The somalier assisted with our wine selection and the waiter was incredibly knowledgable and discrete. We choice the 5 course chefs choice menu, one vegetarian and one meat. All of our couses were superb. Our dessert was served with a thoughtful presentation noting our anniversary and some complimentary bubbly. It is the perfect romantic venue for a special occasion. Probably the best dining experience I have ever had."

"straddles the boundary between formal (though not stiff) and comfortable v well. attentive though not obsequious service. we had one each of the cold and warm appetizers as well as an entree and desert (i thought the portions a little small when they arrived, but i was properly stuffed on departure). a wine list the right size: not so large you're in lost in it but large enough for adequate variety. why not five stars? i found almost all of my plates a little fussy; fewer flavors and textures, a little more simplicity, would have helped every plate. the plate stars out great but soon get muddled because, by the end, there's too much going on and i can no longer appreciate the main item on the plate clearly."

"George offers a menu as well as a tasting menu of 5, 7 or 10 courses. We enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu and were thrilled that we each received a different plate per course which made sharing perfect. The food was incredible.
George is dimly lit but tables are too close together to be romantic. There is lots of conversation at each table which creates a comfortable but energetic noise level.
George would be perfect if not for the staff. The maitre d' was stern and unfriendly. She did not make eye contact or smile at us once. It was as if we were unwelcome. The table staff was more of the same. I found them quick and responsive but they really don't care if you're there or not. There was no special attention or warmth."

"We (couple) had the 5 course chef tasting menu. Each of us got a seperate dish so in all 10 dishes to try. It was good portion sizes and we were stuffed. Americano's were excellent! Good value for this price range."

"George is our go-to place for special occasion dining. It has a comfortable, warm ambience with friendly, attentive servers that never cross into being overly familiar. And of course there's the food - wonderfully prepared and simply delicious. Not a pretentious offering on the menu - well,OK, you could argue that "pine nut dust" crossed the pretentious line but it was delicious so we forgive the slip."

"Fabulous restaurant! It was our first time dining here. We had heard from others how great this restaurant is but we totally impressed on how fantastic it was. We have eaten at many restaurants on our many travel to other cities and countries and would rate George as one of the best restaurant we have ever eaten in.The detail the chef puts into flavours, food combinations and visuals is outstanding. We will definitely go back. We had the 5 course tasting menu and could not have eaten any more than that."

"I love George and hence keep coming back regularly. The dining room is glamorous and almost incandescent, yet very relaxed, evidenced by the variety of people who feel at ease there. I highly recommend glancing at the vegetarian menu in addition to the regular one as it makes mixing and matching options endless. I tried the burrata on roasted vegetables to start, which is a great example of the way George does food: local, fresh, light yet satisfying and incredibly delicious. To follow, the grilled artichokes or the cod are also high on the list. The wine parings are fabulous, however, the knowledgeable server just matched the dishes with a few smaller pours from the by-the-glass list. Service was attentive and personable as always."

"Normally I would not write in about a place as we tend to go to so many. I was pleasantly surprised at how professional and attentive the staff were, they all seemed to be working together to ensure every aspect of the dining experience were tended to and the food was both artful, inventive and amazing. The sommelier was so genuine and passionate in his pairings that the whole experience was like entertainment and food; we decided not to hit the movies after as that seemed pointless after the dinner!

"Our evening at George Restaurant was simply wonderful. We began the evening with a few Mad Men inspired cocktails, and then continued on a 7 course wine pairing. All together we had 14 dishes, as the chef created a separate tasting for each. The service was fitted to our style, formal but not too formal, conversational but not interrupting our conversation, and noted as another table of colleagues on a speaking tour were engaged differently than our table of two - this is service at its best. The food was truly exceptional and the wine pairings above par as the pairings shifted from contrasting to complimentary.
We last did a chef tastings at Jean George at the Trump in New York - and this was absolutely equivalent, ok a little better!"

"This is the best tasting menu experience I have enjoyed in 20 years. George handled 5-course vegetarian, 5-course regular and two 7-course tastings at our table with perfect service, charm, and great pacing. The sommelier was over the top: he shared lots of information, matched wines to each plate served at each course, and was willing to answer any and all questions. My three guests stated categorically that this was the best meals they could remember."

"Celebrated my wife's birthday as a special occasion. Earned a lot of capital with my wife for taking her here. (Thank you!!!!) She loved it as did my son and a friend. They all raved about the quality of the food and the service. Best restaurant we have found in years
Helpful staff who explain the menu and really make you feel special. We have found a new favourite restaurant and telling all our friends.
When we left the staff even met us at the door with our coats in hand. We didn't have to dig for our coat check numbers. My son said how did they know they had the right coats."

"Exceptional. Bright, clean combinations of flavours, tastes and textures that are deftly assembled to allow each component to express itself individually, yet work together for the greater good. Plate presentation carefully rendered without being too precious. Knowledgeable, friendly, efficient service with absolutely no trace of attitude. George also accommodated our table's special needs with aplomb allowing the diner with gluten, nut and lactose concerns to feel welcome and not like a "burden" on the kitchen as is often the case. Wine selections were on the money and played nicely with the food. Living in Kingston we qualify as loyal, but infrequent diners. Geography is the only reason we don't dine at George at least once a month."

"This was our second visit to George and as before the meal was superb. We love the tasting menu, each course a delight. Our server was charming humorous and extremely knowledgable. He was very helpful matching the wines with the food and gave us samples of the wine options. This has become our "special occasion" restaurant, we are looking forward to our next meal at George.
