The first & only steakhouse of its kind in the Louisville area, Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse serves only dry-aged USDA prime beef & is the only restaurant in the area to dry-age all beef, lamb, & even bison on premise. While steak is the foundation of the menu, Jeff Ruby's promises to please seafood lovers as well with its raw/sushi bar & seafood entrees.
Jeff Ruby regulars will be pleased to know that their favorite signature items from the Cincinnati restaurants will be well represented in Louisville. "My husband and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary at Jeff Ruby's. We loved the ambiance. It was noisy due to a screaming baby and the live band. Once the baby stopped crying the noise from the band was not bothersome at all.I chose Jeff Ruby 's for the steaks. My husband said it was the best he's ever tried. He chose the filet mignon on the bone. It was cooked to perfection. I do wish there were a few more vegetarian options on the menu. The mac and cheese was all gone.The creamed spinach was heavenly. The vegetarian sushi was so so. The service was great. We will definitely be back!"

"I've been to Jeff Ruby's 10 times or so but hadn't been in about 2 years. I have to say, it's always been good and my recent visit was no different. It's just reliably great food in an energetic atmosphere and the service staff is unparalleled. Definitely recommend it."

"I am not sure if I was disappointed because of the excitement of the first dining experience at Jeff Ruby's just did not measure up. The service was excellent however the food was a little disappointing . I ordered a baked potatoe and could not get it so they brought me twice baked potatoes. They were good but it seemed a little off that I could not get a simple baked potatoe. My filet was charred and dry....
The place was so noisy and even the dining area was constantly distracting because of all the activity. I just like a more subdued place to enjoy food, drink and conversation with a n old friend I had not seen in years."

"My wife and I had been to Jeff Ruby's but it was the first time for our two daughters, one of whom selected it for her birthday dinner. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Great sushi bar. Perfect oyster's rockefeller. Wonderful blue points. Exceptional steaks. Wine service was a little slow but it did not hinder our dining experience."

"Ambiance and service was amazing. The only drawback was a few "tendons" in the steak. Don't get me wrong it was the most flavorful steak I've ever tasted, but a couple bites weren't edible b/c of the "tendon"-like mini sections."

"Guys weekend on the bourbon trail in Louisville. JR's was just OK. 7:30pm reservation. Not extremely crowded. Entrees were above average but not extraordinary. Service was quite slow and sporadic. Not my first visit, but may have been my last. There are better places to dine in Louisville right now. JR's needs to pick it up a notch."

"Another fine Jeff Ruby Steakhouse! The atmosphere upscale-casual, with pleasant but unobtrusive. The food, as always was delicious. The seafood raw-bar is stellar, and the steaks are wonderful. I am partial to their filet mignon with bearnaise on the side, while my husband usually has filet and lobster tail. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. We would definitely choose this restaurant again, and highly recommend it."

"Food was quite good. The duck confit app and tuna tartare were both tasty. I had a sushi roll for dinner which was huge, one member of my party had a steak which was cooked perfectly and my mom had the scallop dish with truffle sauce which was to die for. Service was very friendly and knowledgable. Only negative part of our experience was being seated in a room off to the side. We like to be in the middle of the action and would have preferred to be in the main dining room. Never having been before, we didn't know to make the request. But a very nice experience overall."

"The first time we came here we spent almost $1,000 on 6 people. The food was great, after an hour an a half of being at the table we were asked to hurry up because we had been there to long. This time with just 2 of us it seemed a lot less rushed, same great food, and we weren't asked to leave. So if you have a larger party be sure it's not on a busy night so you don't run into that rushed dinning experience at an expensive resturant."

"Very good food,, the dry aged steak was cooked to perfection. I prefer rare and really think the chef went the extra mile to insure a proper sear and mailard effected crust,,, not all places can pull it off and keep cool pink center. Our waiter, a guy named Slade, was professional and courteous,, even though we informed him we were from Kansas,,, at the precise moment Louisville was behind to Wichita State the NCAA Final Four,,, that didnt end so well for Wichita State. Very Nice Dining experience."

"Excellent service and a wonderful meal. Cocktails were tasty, and we enjoyed one of our favorite wines with dinner. Appetizer/salad was great, followed by the largest "petite filet" I've ever seen (better known as their "Queeen fillet"), which was perfectly prepared, and tasty sides of creamed spinach and macaroni & 6 cheeses (both way more than enough for two to share), followed by good coffee and a lovely creme brulee (shared, as we were stuffed by this time, even though we left half of each of the sides and a little of our steaks uneaten). Expensive, but you leave feeling that you got what you paid for, which is often not the case these days. We will certainly return the next time we are in Louisville!"

"We were there for our 13 year wedding anniversary. My wife and I were staying at the Hampton Inn just around the corner and my wife wanted a good steak. She googled "good steaks in downtown Louisville" and yours was the first one to pop up. She was excited because it was within walking distance. So when we walked in wearing our sweat shirts and flannel jackets feeling EXTREMELY OUT OF PLACE, since everyone else there was wearing suits and ties etc.; we thought for sure we would be thrown out. But that was not the case; everyone there treated us like royalty and the food was delicious. We would like to come back; but this time we might dress up a little...LOL!"

"When we first arrived, we sat at the lighted bar with live music playing on top of the stage/bar. We had reservations but we were seated only minutes after our scheduled time. It is a nice, romantic restaurant. We ordered the steak, sushi, and fish and all were excellent. If I have to say anything negative, when I made reservations a week in advance the only opening was for 9:00 PM. We wanted an earlier reservation but we still had a great night out."

"It was my first time ever at a Jeff Ruby's and I couldn't be happier with the reservation I made. The staff was so friendly, the steak was the best steak I've ever had and the live band the experience all that much better. I would highly recommend Jeff Ruby's Louisville."

"Was running late due to traffic. Hostess staff was very welcoming and accommodating. They held our reservation. Once we checked in we were brought to our table immediately. Our waiter John was fantastic! He was very knowledgable of the menu and was very attentive. Timing was perfect on all the courses. Food quality was excellent. Would definitely return."

"Our party of three were seated promptly despite our tardiness of about 10 minutes for our dinner reservation. The table was near the back of the room and away from the hustle and bustle of the busy bar and live piano entertainment. Our service started with busing of the table with water and cleared away an extra place setting. Andy our waiter then appeared and took drink orders. His service was prompt, pleasant and friendly despite servicing several tables. The wine was moderate priced cab from Stag's Leap "Artemis." We had the filet and NY strip that were cooked to perfections with excellent sides of grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes."

"We loved the restaurant....for many years had wondered about eating there, hearing that it was pretty pricey. Opportunity came when 502 Dare to Care Kids Campaign and the prices we thought were reasonable - $50.20 per person. This was my Valentine's Day present to my husband. The food was wonderful. Salad was very tasty! Warm, cozy setting on a cold, dreary day!"

"Absolutely love this place! Quality and selection are on point with the other steakhouses in Louisville (Eg. Ruth Chris, Morton's, Del Frisco's, etc...) The atmosphere is relaxed but classy unlike the other places where the atmosphere is drab and boring. Value places Jeff Ruby's far above the others with providing everything the others have and then some at a lower price point. I would even say that the Louisville location exceeds the original in Cincinnati."

"2nd review. Jeff (not Ruby) introduced himself to us after we were seated and then when we were leaving said to me, "Thanks for trying us again". AGAIN. In my 1st review I mentioned the date we were going back. But we then cancelled after a family emergency, and later made a new reservation. That's an extra step, weeks apart. So someone went to the trouble to basically skip-trace us, then cop to it later. Or it's automated by software referencing email addresses. Wouldn't have felt creepy if Jeff had 'come clean' up-front. We thought he introduced himself to everyone then noticed he didn't. Steaks were great but I didn't eat all day before and so the 2nd martini made me uncomfortable. Skip seafood, it's no good. Just get a steak."

"It's a high-end steakhouse, so you get the picture. They age everything in-house so the meat is excellenet. They use a propritary rub on everything, so if you find that a bit salty (as we did) you won't love your meal."

"Jeff Ruby's never fails to deliver a high quality dining experience. Due to it's proximity to the KFC Yum! Center, we often dine there prior to events at Yum. Steaks and the seafood bar highlight the entree menu and are of the highest quality. The Steak Collingsworth and New York Strip were cooked to perfection with a seared outside and nicely medium rare inside. The Freddie salad is also a favorite. We did not have time for dessert this time but know how scrumptious they are from prior visits. The service was also terrific especially given that we were on a time schedule to get to a concert."
