Certified Texas organic beef, wild game, and fresh gulf seafood are the star performers of Bonnell's. Each dish exhibits creativity and innovative tastes with a blend of Southwestern, Creole, and Mexican influences.
Fine Texas Cuisine, as defined by Chef Jon Bonnell, is a blend of regional flavors and cultures, combined with local ingredients that make Texans proud. "The food was good, but if you want the best bang for your buck, just order elk tenderloin! Everything else is good, but the elk is the best part, and the only reason I would go again. (The elk was pretty amazing with their house sauce on it!)"

"I happened upon this restaurant by chance while surfing Google Maps and decided to try it out for my wife's and my anniversary. We was more than pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. From the hostess seating us to the superb waiting staff we felt like we were being treated like one of the family. Courtesy and promptness abounded, and we were at ease the entire meal. We will highly recommend to my friends and coworkers. No, it does not have fast food restaurant pricing, but every penny spent was worth it in spades. Great meal for an anniversary or any other special occasion."

"We had never been here but had read great reviews and it was a special anniversary dinner so decided to try it. We got the large sampler appetizer plate and everything on it was great. That could have been a meal for one person. The elk tacos were my husband's favorite. My husband had the buffalo tenderloin - which was cooked perfectly to his liking and I had one of the fish specials- also very good. Be sure and order some of their grits. I am not a person that likes grits but I tried them at Buttons and really liked them there. so gave these a shot. And these are actually better than Buttons. And the scones were good too. If we had not of been so full, we would have saved room for dessert but that will be for next time."

"As an out of towner, I was curious about the menu at Bonnell's. It was a very enjoyable dining experience. The starters, main dishes and side dishes all had a big, Texan heart about them. The flavors were very present without being overwhelming. The service was just right -- everything was on time, but never rushed. The layout of the dining room afforded personal space while still making it feel like being out on the town. The location, on the other hand -- next to a highway -- ensures that you'll need to drive away to continue your night on the town.
Definitely worth the trip for the food."

"After several months I have the chance to go back to Bonnell's. I was away too long! Bonnell's is better than ever, and is one of few restaurants to offer the healthier game meats. I was quite impressed to see the all local area growers and sources for so many items on their menu as well.
Our server was knowledgeable, prompt without being intrusive. The dining room area was perfectly lit and not at all loud.
We started with the Oysters Texasfeller. They were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My date had the mixed grill of Elk, with Quail and Andouille, which he share a bite with me - delicious!

"Dinned at Bonnell's for my one year anniversary and everything was fantastic! Meals are pricey but this is the kind of place for a special occasion. "I'd heard about this place for years, never went because It's usually booked on Fri/Sat by the time I start looking. Had an opportunity for a mid week dinner with my son and Headed to Bonnell. Some oddities, anywhere else they ask you what water you'd like, giving you a chance to order Pellegrino, if that's your thing - then they bring you a big bottle. Here I was not asked, I did order it, and it came in a small bottle for one as if I'd ordered a bar drink? We had the appetizer sampler, ranged from cold greasy calamari to OK on some chip thing. Son's buffalo steak was fine. My pecan crusted red fish was just bad. This place has 5 star prices but only mediocre food. It's booked only because of proximity to Mira Vista IMHO."

The menu is fantastic, food excellent, and it is one of kind restaurant.

"A friend took me to Bonnell's to celebrate my birthday. After reading that Bonnell's was one of the finest restaurants in Fort Worth, I was excited to go for the first time. It was a very disappointing experience. I ordered chicken penne with wild mushrooms. I was not wild about the dish. It was quite tasteless. Dessert was even worse. I had the key lime tartlet, which tasted as if it had been sitting around for a week. Rather than creamy, it was dry.
I have no plan to return or recommend Bonnell"

"We each got the combination plate. The Andouille sausage was so hot that it distracted us from the rest of the food - neither of us ate all of it. The Elk was awesome and my wife loved the lamb. "Our first visit to Bonnell's was wonderful! It is comfortable fine dining, not snooty or stuffy. I am not usually a fan of game meat, but the elk tacos were wonderful and the creme brûlée probably the best we've had. Bernice was a fabulous and friendly server. We will definitely be back. And we were greeted at the reception desk by Chef Bonnell himself!"

"The service was adequate but not excellent. Our server was not very knowlegable on the wine list and we had to request bread twice, for example. I did not like the smoked shrimp on the salad as they were too heaviy smoked, but others might enjoy them. My husband liked the elk tenderloin on the carne asada, but did not enjoy the sauce. We had really looked forward but didn't think the quality of the food & service met the cost."

"Our party of four was in the mood for a truly upscale evening and we were not in the least disappointed. I had heard great comments about Bonnel's appetizers. I ordered two, the Shrimp and Grits and the Oysters Texasfeller as my entre. My friend, the Shrimp and Grits and the Calamari. Our wives had the pasta with chicken and truffles. We all raved about our meals which we topped off with the best creme brûlée I have ever tasted. Everything was upscale."

"This is not our first time at Bonnells.....and definitely will not be our last time. We love eating here.....and it is always so good. I had my wife and 16 year old son with me. We started with the Elk Mini Tacos as appetizer. My wife had the Redfish. My son chose the seafood special of Kovia. I had the land special of Ostrich. The green chile cheese grits is a must for a side. For dessert...there is nothing better than the Cast Iron Apple Crisp with some french pressed coffee. We feel fortunate to have such a great restaurant only a few minutes from our house."

"We had to wait over a half hour to get two simple desserts, a bowl of sorbet and a piece of moon pie.We were told the kitchen was very busy. This was on a Wednesday evening when the restaurant was not crowded. This was not the first time that we have had very slow service at this restaurant."

"Been here many times and every time it has been wonderful. The mood of the dining area is nice, low light but not too much where you can't see your food. Very nice for a romantic evening. Their wine list is complete. They have anything and everything to please your wine palate. The food is some of the best I have had in the metroplex. They have a wide area of food by my favorite is the game, quail, elk tenderloin, buffalo. Simply the best. If you are looking for a date night dinner location, someplace to go for a special occasion, or just an evening out with friends and/or family I could not recommend a better place."

"The food was worthy, the price was way too much, and the portions of food were very small.. my appetizers were slivers of meat, instead of slices,,,the salad with entree was charged separately.... the lighting to read the menu was poor, individual table lights would have made a world of difference..thank God no wine or tea was ordered, 90 bucks for a meal come on..no cake on dessert menu...my first experience was much better some 5 years ago where the waiter actually unfolded table napkin and placed it in your lap,,, quality of service has diminished..Chef Jon came to table and asked how food was, and when told of my date's birthday, did not offer any type of dessert of complimentary gratuity... wont go back,,"
