"Food: Taste was spot on for most tapas dishes, however texture was off E.g. shrimps were overcooked/tough, razor clams had shell pieces and sand in them, pork belly was rubbery and hard. Plating was nice though and a creative combination of ingredients.
Service: Busy place, it was hard to flag down the waiting staff, food took a long time to arrive.
Ambience: Romantic with lots of soft lighting and floral arrangements (reminds me of a wedding venue). Outdoor patio is great.
Value: Tapas portions were way too small for their prices. Especially the 3 tortilla "cakes" which were the same size as a Canadian dollar coin! We've had outstanding tapas elsewhere with more reasonable portions."

"Second time I've been here and I it's just as great as I remember! The paella was amazing! The tapas were delicious (the salad especially). I don't remember the names of the tapas I ordered, but of the four that I did order, I wasn't disappointed by any. Great place! waiters were amazing and always nicely decorated. Now that it's summer they opened the roof of their patio and it looks amazing!"

"2nd visit to Salinas, a year apart. Salina excels in ambience, retractable roof, fireplace, soft lighting, flowers, and blue velvet seating. The food is solid, albeit some dishes overpriced, such as 4 tiny slivers of pulpo for $21. The paella is probably one of the best in town, and is reason enough to go. The wine list is tough to navigate, due to price mark up and new world selection. For example, sangria is $12. per glass and $55. for a pitcher. There was a glitch with the bill, which was handled promptly by management and owner. Overall they were very thorough in resolution.
With so many Spanish restaurant traps out there, come to Salinas for the food and the ambience, just be careful about drink selection which can pad your bill."

"it's a shame that such a wonderful place has such very poor service and bad food. Coles Y Coliflor was so salty that it was just uneatable. Rossejat Rapida was overdone and mushy, tasted like leftovers. Service is a joke. Reordering a drink takes forever. Asked for a glass of chilled white wino- came in a room temp. Twice. Sent back. Don't they have a wine cooler? Asked for an entree suggestion - the waiter was like 'you're having rapida which is alot of carbs already, so doesn't make sense to order paella'. Rapida was a size of a palm and pulled pork was just nothing special. Not worth the money at all. But the place itself is amazing, must see. Just go there, have a drink and have a dinner somewhere else."

"The partly roofed garden is beautifully decorated and very nice to enjoy a delicious meal! My friend and I had early dinner and there was a nice breeze and fresh air. Definitely try the fideo and fried garbanzo beans!"

"In NYC for only a couple of nights, we wanted to try some new restaurants and are so glad we found Salinas. Everything was perfect: food, ambience, service, wine. We stuck mostly with traditional tapas, and while the dishes we chose may not have been the most adventurous, they were each delicious and every ingredient was present and had obvious presence. I am not a dessert person, but my partner ordered dessert and I snuck several bites - which never happens - because it was so good. Highly recommended, especially if the weather is nice and the glass roof is open in the back."

"We've been wanting to go to Salinas since seeing the show featured on a cooking show last year. From the moment we walked in we were treated graciously and able to sit at a booth style table usually reserved for 4. Very romantic corner! As for food, it was all outstanding. Our selections included the fried artichokes, bacon wrapped quail, hake and suckling pig which we shared and devoured. Quite an accomplishment since I am not a meat eater. Also tried the special dessert cocktail which was akin to drinking a chocolate covered cherry. A perfect evening."

"Sometimes the stars align and you couldn't imagine things going any better. I went to Madison Square Garden to watch a friend who was fighting live on NBC and although he lost a controversial decision, the fight was the impetus for me being in NY in the first place and the excuse to invite my old flame to come down from Connecticut to meet me. If you want romantic ask for table 73, it's the corner booth, where you can both sit side by side. This is without a doubt the best table in the restaurant. Her blue eyes somehow even radiated more against the lush blue velvet cushions. I told her my new favorite thing was white Rioja and she laughed and said it was hers as well. I ordered a lovely bottle and the razor clams and Jamon Iberico.5 stars"

"I made reservations for Salinas as a night out celebrating my wife's birthday. After enjoying a performance at the Joyce Theater I wanted to keep the "Spanish" theme for the night. Since my wife lived in Barcelona for a few years I figured Salinas would be a perfect place. Let me tell you, Salinas did not disappoint!
When my wife saw the menu selection, her face lit up with joy. It was like she was transported back to Barcelona. And that was only the beginning. The service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The cocktail selection was very creative and delicious. As for their wine selection, although we did not order any, they probably have the best Catalan wine selection in NYC. Lastly, the food was divine!"

"The ambiance and service were great at salinas! Even though the restaurant was packed, it never felt like people were on top of me. "We had only tapas, but were very pleased with them. They were unusually creative and tasty--a more sophisticated version of traditional tapas. We especially enjoyed the Caldo and Pulpo and the desserts--a rich flan with lightly elegant slightly sweet white foam and crumbs of a cookie--a nice variation of the traditional; and a membrillo "sandwich" which again a sophisticated upgrade on the usual membrillo with cheese. For me, my usual favorite tapas of gambas al ajillo was too rich, wit only 3 or 4 gambas, a minor disappointment for me, but my wife loved them. The ambiance was a pleasant surprise, as it's more elegant than most in the neighborhood. And it's just one long block from the Joyce Theater. We plan a return visit to their garde"

"Upon entering you are greeted by the beautiful scent of fresh flowers and friendly staff. The ambiance is romantic, intimate, and cozy. We had cocktails while we looked over the menu, the "Salud" and "La Mora" both were delicious and very refreshing. We chose four tapas; Gambas Al Ajillo, Queso Al Horno, Panceta Con Calabaza, and the Codorniz Con Membrillo. All were mouth watering but our favorite was easily the Codorniz! We also shared Paella and a pitcher of sangria. Although we were quite full after our tapas we could not stop eating the paella, it was too good! The service was great from bus boys to our waiter! It was a fantastic experience. A new favorite!"

"Very beautiful decor with huge bouquets of fresh flowers. I absolutely love the ambience. The food was of high quality as well. However, the menu is extremely limited with only 3 main course selections and rest tapas, the serving portions were tiny even for tapas, and therefore was not good value. "I enjoyed my visit at this place. The hostess, bartender, and waiters were excellent. The setting of the place was very unique. There was enough room from your table to the next. The only thing I did not enjoy was, I feel as if the Tapas were so over price for their quantity. I have been to many tapa place. I also have been to Spain and enjoyed how tapas are suppose to be served. I was quite disappointed at the price. I couldn't not even enjoy for more than a min. for the appetizers I got. It was delicious... But I couldn't taste it all in because of it's very very "TINY" portion. The entree I had was also "so/so". For it's price, they only added 2..2!!! Scallops in my paella. Quite disappointed."

"I went on a Sunday for my husbands birthday because of the amazing reviews. Unfortunately, it did not live up to our expectations. There was only one waiter for the resteraunt, paella was very bland, service was terrible! All the manager did was give us her card to use for the next time we came. Why in the world would I want to go again after such bad service."

"We would go back in a heartbeat. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a very friendly and competent staff. We had a glass of wine at the bar before being seated in the dining room, which was beautiful. There were flowers everywhere and the limestone walls and lighting balanced the rich, blue upholstery. Definitely a romantic spot.
The food was amazing. We're pretty picky about our tapas and this place did not disappoint. From presentation to preparation, each piece was flawless. We highly recommend this place."

"Excellent ambiance and tastefully done decor for a cozy evening out with friends. Food was exceptionally good although I'd admit that the dim lighting did make it hard to see the food clearly. Tapas are bite size in most plates so order at least 2 per person if sharing with a group. The servers were great and took great care when serving the Paella so everyone had a well represented portion. The pricing is a bit high for the food alone so take someone here for a special occasion, not as a regular haunt."

"Stunning decor, gorgeous ambiance, amazing food. I would have given it 5 stars but the portions were so tiny for the price and we had to order so many extra plates because we were not satisfied. If a restaurant wants to charge $13 for gambas al ajillo there should be more than 4 tiny shrimps in the bowl. However the chef was incredible - everything tasted amazing. Highly recommended for those who don't mind spending money for their tapas."

"I celebrated my birthday here at the experience was excellent. The food was good and reasonably priced. The interior is intimate and the back room is where you want to be sat, if possible. Our table wasn't ready when we got there so we had to wait for about 45 minutes, but they made up for it by bringing us a pitcher of sangeria and continuing to come around all night to ask how our dinenr was. This place is perfect for big groups!"

I was able to get the steak special which was yummy and beautiful but wondered if my experience would have been different if that was not available.
