Perched a top the intersection of 14th and U Streets, Lost Society offers food, drink, and a killer view from its roof deck. The kitchen, run by Executive Chef Joseph Evans, serves up dishes that do justice to the restaurant's qualification as a 'boutique steakhouse.' Steak selections, in addition to other meat, fish, and vegetarian entrée options, render Lost Society an excellent destination for even the pickiest eaters. The bars (there are four) feature wine, beer, and cocktail options that complement a meal, a night on the town, or both.
"The food is solidly good. I had the bistro steak with brussel sprouts and a side of mac and cheese; my husband had the lamb. Our waiter was polite but could have been more attentive (I saw him doing shots at the bar). My biggest issue was the noise level. It was extremely hard to talk to each other. We were there late in the evening (8:45 pm reservation) but it was still too much. Next time I would ask for a table near the windows, hoping it would be a bit more intimate. This issue could probably be solved by turning the music in the dining room down a notch. It got better ever time a song ended and you could almost feel the crowd enjoying a few moments of yelling-free conversation.
Overall, an enjoyable evening despite the irritations."

"I ordered the Pork Belly, Shrimp & Grits, and Nutella S'mores and everything was VERY good. Upon leaving I decided I would be back to try something else on the menu as everything sounded awesome. Definitely a cool place to go when on U street."

"Who would've ever thought a lounge on the corner of 14th & U Street would have such great food! When I first heard Lost Society was a steak house, I thought yeah right. I'd been there several times for HH and late night for various birthday parties but I'd never eaten there until a month ago.
We purchased a deal through one of the sites that included a bottle of wine, 2 apps, 2 entrees and a dessert. I honestly had no idea what to expect but everything we ate was delicious. So much so we went back again last weekend.
We esp liked the lobster quinoa, the kale salad, the sirloin steak with peppercorn (cooked medium) and the potatoes au gratin as a side, were some of my favorites. Only drawback is it's super loud but the food's worth it"

"We came in with a Gilt City voucher, which immediately relegated us to second-class status at Lost Society. The hostess was fine; however, the wait staff was in a rush to get our orders and get us out of there. I bought the Gilt City voucher because I thought Lost Society would be a go-to special occasion spot (I live close by) -- but given the service we received, I don't know if I'd go back there again. The food was excellent, but I felt hassled and so couldn't fully enjoy the meal."

"I arrived at Lost Society for my 26th birthday last year, and really enjoyed the atmosphere, bartender and food. I think all of these elements worked out because it was my birthday and it was Friday night. There was a pretty awesome crowd of folks there that evening. So it felt like a high end lounge, but this was exactly what I needed or was looking for to celebrate my day of birth. I would recommend folks go to Lost Society for happy hour and a place to hang and relax and people watch."

"I made reservations here for a bachelorette dinner. Although I was called ahead of time to be warned that the restaurant was going to close down for a private event at 10pm, I wasn't aware that my party and I wouldn't be seated at all if the bride was late. This is essentially what happened, so we didn't even end up having the event at the bride's number one choice because of this private event and the fact that the bride was late. Although the tardiness was the bride's fault, the restaurant should have made an effort to seat our party and serve us dinner, especially since there were several others parties eating that were clearly going to be in the restaurant beyond 10pm. Lost Society needs to decide whether it is a club or a restaurant."

"I came with a group of 8 on a Saturday night, and we had a fantastic time and delicious meal! The cocktails were exciting, the wine was great and the dishes on the menu fit many different tastes, and all delivered great flavors. I had crab stuffed lobster and fried oysters and I will be back for the same dishes. A friend had steak and said it was cooked perfectly, everyone was pleased.
Lost Society is a great pick for a large group of friends, or a romatic date (there are booths with private curtains).
After dinner you can head upstairs and over look the entire city from the roof deck and listen to the DJ.
A great spot in DC!"

"Lost Society has a great vibe, probably more for those looking for a classier (but not super fancy) bar scene. Food was just okay, I wasn't too impressed with my steak (and they say it's a steakhouse) but my salad was devine. My friend regretted her steak and cheese sandwich (she's also from Philly, problem #1) and my other friend liked her lobster. Waiter was a little frazzled and kind of awkward, but nice. Think I'll just stick to this spot for drinks. It's a great place to start your night on U-Street"

"Have been many times & always have a fantastic meal! Don't miss happy hour prix fix dinner for $25 includes an app/salad, entree & dessert/side! Great value! Plus they always have specials on Guilt City, last one I bought was $79 for dinner for 2 including a bottle of wine! Great lounge music & vibe;) Always make a reservation! It fills up fast! And even if your just going to the bar, they won't let you in without a res if its full!"

"This place was a little too loud for my taste. It was hard to carry on a conversation at the table, which would have been fine if I knew ahead of time that I was having dinner at a bar, not a restaurant with a bar, in fact the bar took up the majority of the space. This would be a great place to have a burger and watch a game but not a place for date night"

"Lost Society is a Hidden Gem. The Decorum and the Food are in a word EXCELLENT!!! If you go, request to be seated in Melissa's section. She was Bright, Energetic, Bubbly, and Honest about the Food on the Menu. I will return to Lost Society again and again, and every time I go, I hope to be seated in Melissa's section because I know the food is going to be Amazing as is the atmosphere."

"Great food, horrible service. In fact the service was so abominable that it all but erased the nice experience of eating the food.
The man and woman who were apparently tag-teaming our table and playing host/ hostess left us for long spells without checking in (e.g., when I still needed to order a drink and after the entrees had come). They brought the wrong entree to my date but ignored our table for so long that we had long since just eaten whatever they had brought us. And then they had the audacity to charge a tip automatically on the bill, though we were just a party of two.
Though the food was really good, I can't imagine going myself or bringing anyone to Lost Society again."

"Perhaps it was a fluke, but our service was terrible! The food was good, but not quite as I remembered. I would go back on a night when it isn't as busy.
We went on a Friday evening and it was very crowded."

"Came here on a date night. It was lovely. Really wonderful view of the sun setting out of the big glass windows. Nice ambiance. The service was very good. The food was fantastic. We highly recommend the Lobster Fried Quinoa appetizer, any of the steaks, and our waiter suggested the Bread Pudding dessert, which was delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well."

"I had a Living Social deal and for the price I paid to Living Social plus the tip and exras I got at the restaurant, this was a great buy! I would only hesitate to go back because of the entree prices. My boyfriend thought it strange too that at a Steak House, his steak didn't come with a side. I think his steak was $26 and a side would have been between $6 and 10 (I'm guessing), that combined is way more than he thought he'd pay at a traditional steak house and so in his estimation, if he wants steak, he'll go elsewhere. I would go again for appetizers, drinks and dessert. I had a delicious rootbeer braised short rib and the tuna tartare was divine. Our waiter was a pro and I would hope to get him again."

"The food was excellent from the lobster quinoa to the S'Mores. We both had the T-Bone steak which was delicious! Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the closeness of the dining tables to the bar. The people seated at the bar near us were extremely loud which made dinner conversation hard. I wish the dining area was separate from the bar. That definitely would've made the experience 100 times better."

"I took my husband and best friend here for their birthdays and despite telling the restaurant 3 times and confirming via phone, email and in person to bring out dessert with a candle after dinner they failed to do so. Other than that the food was wonderful, the atmosphere was fantastic and the people were friendly. Overall, a great place."

"This was my first time dining at Lost Society, and I was a bit disappointed with the food. However, the service and ambience were top notch. For the appetizer, the short ribs were a little dry. I also thought the food there in general was a tad too salty and buttery. The restaurant is set on the 2nd floor with large windows overlooking U Street, great place for people watching and probably would go back for drinks, but not a meal."

"Usually we love Lost Society but this time the waiter wasn't good, didn't come by enough, wasn't paying attention. The food was OK but not as good as usual and my hamburger, requested medium arrived very rare. I had to send it back, which I don't like to do.
We'll be back, we really do love the restaurant and it's close to us... but this trip wasn't one we'll remember as fondly as previous ones."

"Overall this Restaurant Week choice was quite good. The food was absolutely amazing, but the timing of the salad and entree were a little bit off. None the less we enjoyed everything. The staff was polite, but our server could have been a little bit more knowledgeable on the wine parings that we did with our meal. This would be a great place to have a group for dinner. I thought it was quite loud and it was hard to hear what we were saying to each other through most of dinner. Next time we're going for the mac and cheese."

"Been here a couple times now -trendy restarurant and club/ bar part upstairs. I would describe it as swanky although remarkably when I was worried about my boyfriend coming from out of town without the proper dress shoes they said we don't have a dress code!
Waitress was low key however I felt she tried to push extra items. We held our own & the short ribs although different sauce than before were still excellent. Also tried the lobster quinoa- It was good tasted like a chinese dish. Also had scalloped/ gratin potatoes -excellent!
Ambiance great, dark lighting large circular bar chandeleirs. Mixed hip crowd. Busy more club-ish upstairs closed in roof deck for winter."

"Lost Society did serve us some good steaks and veggies, but this place is first and foremost a bar, and only coincidentally serves food. The entire restaurant (which wraps 360 degrees around the bar) was packed with people standing around the bar, there only to have drinks and not to eat. Looks like a fun place for cocktails, but for dinner? I'd not choose Lost Society again."
