"They say good things come in small packages and that certainly holds try for this neighborhood gem.
The cuisine is eclectic, creative and pairs unusual ingredients to create a masterful symphony.
We enjoyed our Habanero cured Salmon, Scallops with Chorizo in squid ink, Duo of Pork - belly and loin. Menu changes frequently but be assured it will highlight seasonal favorites.
Dessert was good but did not blow us away.
Service was friendly, knowledgeable and unobstructive.
BYO is a big plus."

"Wow. Each dish was so thoughtfully prepared and delicious. Tiny restaurant, at times quite loud, but we were so into the flavors of what was on our plates, mostly didn't notice. Loved the halloumi cheese appetizer, skate and pork main dishes (the sauces alone are worth going here for), and the lemon chifffon cake was the perfect ending. FYI, BYOB and cash only. Make a reservation on Open Table in advance, pretty full and tables seem to stay put all evening."

"... and good value. We came for the Mother's Day prix fixe dinner and did not have trouble securing a reservation. Confirmation of my Open Table request was nearly immediate. We were seated immediately and offered our choices. We each had a delicious cauliflower soup garnished with edible flowers and raisins soaked in verjus poured elegantly at table. My husband had the grilled halloumi cheese and I had the terrine as appetizers. My main entree was the fish (didn't go for the snapper, which carried an upcharge) and my husband enjoyed the hanger steak cooked sous vide. All in all, it was a wonderful and memorable meal served by a friendly and attentive staff. If we lived in Philly, we'd go here once a week."

"My wife and I love to dine at Pumpkin when we visit Philadelphia. We know that we are going to have an excellent dining experience, and we always have the option of bringing a bottle of our favorite wine! The menu keeps changing, and the choices are always innovative, fresh and very tasty. The staff that one meets are invariably helpful and charming.
For a small space the owners are able to deliver not only high-quality dining but a cosy and friendly atmosphere."

"Pumpkin is one of those neighborhood gems you almost hope stays slightly undiscovered so you can keep getting a reservation without calling months in advance. The food is simply fantastic, the presentation is so amazing you want to take pictures of each course, the service is just right (refilling waters and being available without being in your face), and and the ambiance is stellar. Perfect portions leave you completely satisfied but not overly stuffed full. I have never had a bad course here and always look forward to going back."

"As close to perfect a small restaurant can be, just a thouroughly delightful experience from beginning to end. We showed up early, but were accomodated quickly into the busy dining room. 5 excellent courses for $40,byob and friendly, gracious and knowledgable service, who can really ask for more? Our server gave us a list of recommended places to go and another hailed us a cab. A splendid evening all around."

"We came up from DC for a few days of dining and enjoying Philly. This place was a treat - would love to have our own in Washington. Great service! Excellent Food - creative and seasonal. And, who doesn't love BYOB! No problems recommending Pumpkin and hoping to dine there again."

"I went with a party of three for a birthday. It was a lovely experience, particularly because of how accommodating they were able to be for the birthday girl's gluten intolerance--there weren't many things off limits to her, and she felt like she was able to get the whole experience."

"We enjoyed our meal but the place is very small and seemed kind of cramped. While everything was good, there was nothing that anyone had that made us rave...for the prices and the portions, we had expected more of a wow factor."

"This is the best example why OpenTable is invaluable to diners and restaurants. One might pass by Pumpkin storefront and not venture in..BIG MISTAKE!The staff is welcoming, proffesional and smart, answering all questions. The decor is eclectic, sparkling and charming. The food is AMAZING! We dined on the evening special, Peking Duck.It was wonderful, on a bed of sauerkraut and pork loin. The mozzarella app served with broccolini and the pork creminette were equally delicious. The staff graciously opened our BYOB.A true "find" in Philadelphia!"

"Small dining room, but delicious food and friendly service. There was quite a delay between courses, which could be a positive or negative. The pork crepinette was quite good and substantial enough to share between two people. The sweet potato soup was outstanding and flavorful. The beef cheek was also very good and a large portion. It was a bit difficult to identify the accompaniments with the beef. The cod was good but I found it a bit chewy. The goat's milk cheesecake with huckleberry was excellent!"

"Outstanding food presented in wonderful and artistic fashion. Notable attention to detail with a blending of flavors. The camembert appetizer presentation was almost too-beautiful to disturb with a fork. This small, intimate and friendly-staffed locale makes for a great neighborhood dining-out experience. As a BYOB it allows you to bring the best of wines at store-bought prices. Bring a white and a red for versatility."

"Dining at Pumpkin was a pleasurable experience. The menu was small but interesting. I enjoyed a seaweed salad as a starter which was tasty but one of the seaweeds was a bit tough. My friend enjoyed the sweet potato soup, which was awesome. My meal was a sea Bream, a type of white fish, which was floured lightly and fried with a mix of interesting veggies. My friend had a beef in wine that was SO tender and rich-tasting. For dessert, we enjoyed a flour less chocolate cake-YUM!!! It's a BYOB, which I love because the wines I buy and bring are ones I love. Wines in restaurants are way over priced. I would head back to this restaurant any time. Service was good, also."

"Unique seasonal menu. Front window should be replaced with something more insulated as my party was freezing the whole time due to the cold coming in through the single-paned window.
Sweet potato soup was tasty, not cloyingly sweet and with a slight hint of spice that off-site the minimal sweetness. Duck and beef cheek were equally tasty. Dessert was so-so, but not anything to write home about. The BYOB aspect was annoying as there are no wine stores near the restaurant, but that is more a Pennsylvania law issue than a fault of Pumpkin."

"The food was outstanding. I am unsure as to why people have commented that the portions were small. I did not find that with my choices. The service was excellent. The price point is a little high for me, but considering the food, I would recommend this place."

"Pumpkin BYOB really does mean bring your own!. The wait staff will open it for you, but if you don't have it you are pretty much drinking water. And they only take CASH. There is an ATM in the little grocery 1/2 block away if you need it. And the menu is very limited. No chicken. Only one Beef entree. But several fish items. Now that all the :-( are out of the way...Eat here if you can. The wait staff is efficient, gracious and available. The appetizers and entrees all very artfully presented and creatively assembled. Foie Gras with PBJ! Spanish mackerel with a mint salsa verde! Broccoli rabe in a parmesan cheese; pork creppenette! And a Maple Pot de Creme that is better than chocolate! We enjoyed every bite of every item!"
