Home 231 creates a comfortable yet stylish restaurant that offers contemporary home-style cuisine, service and atmosphere. Our chef has created a menu that utilizes local products, ranging from meats and poultry, to farm fresh eggs and seasonal produce. Our food is described as simple and approachable American food with a modern touch. Join us indoors or outdoors on our courtyard and allow our servers to create a dining experience you will remember.
Our outside patio is booked on a first come first serve basis. Making a reservation for the courtyard does not guarantee the courtyard seating, but we try to accomodate all requests. Private parties in the courtyard will move all requests for outside to our indoor dining room.

"Place and menu sound great. Service extremely slow and inattentive (for a Friday night..?). A group of 4, extremely loud (and drunk), probably should had been asked by management to refrain themselves. We were disappointed, we were looking forward to a better experience."

"I wish now we would have gone somewhere else, a bit pricey for the amount of food you received for brunch! Its very small. It would be a great place to go to probably on another day, but it was hard for 2 mothers to talk to 2 mother-in-laws. Although the food was a little pricey for the portions, it was excellent. We left before dessert (which looked scrumpcious) because it was just too noisy to talk.
I will go back at a different time, I wish the place was in our neighborhood, would be great. The Hostesses were friendly, and our waiter was a gem!"

"My wife and I were seated in a cozy booth not far from the kitchen. We were greeted by our server Matt. He was very pleasant and explained the evenings special and the new dinner menu flawlessyly. We explained to him that we would like the chef to make "whatever he would like" for us. Chef Matt accepted the challenge and away we went! We enjoyed 6 full courses, some of which were new menu items, and some courses were special features Chef Matt made special for us. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and were pleasantly suprised by our check total even with a few beers and a bottle of wine. Service was spot on. I cannot wait to return to Home 231. Maybe next time we will try the Sunday brunch we have heard so many great things about it."

"Took the family for Mother's Day brunch. Food was great, service was incredibly attentive. One of our orders was not prepared as requested, a replacement was delivered within 2-3 minutes with multiple follow ups to be be sure we were satisfied. Will be back soon for dinner!"

"Started w/ KY Lemonade/Pomegranate Spritzer, Special du jour: Arugula salad w/ prosciutto, watermelon, honey dew, & cantaloupe, w/pine nuts...and some vinaigrette dressing. Splendid! So refreshing and mouth-watering! Next- deviled egg trio to complement and enjoyed the freshness. I would have loved some sugar-cured bacon on 1. Main- trout w/ fresh veggies, Grandma had the short rib. I didn't eat the crispy fish skin (which I know some pple enjoy) bc it's not my thing. Gma/I finished w/crumbed peach pie. They were out of the vanilla ice cream, so we got to choose from Apricot/Honey or Chocolate Chip. Had the Apricot Honey and was in heaven. The peach pie was delicious, however served cold. Coffee! Worth Every penny. #freshfoodheaven"

"First time for dinner at Home 231. Loved the freshness & unique preparation of things- from the cocktails to dessert. My only disappointment was they had run out of the "sustainable fish" by 6:30, but ordered the trout on the menu. We will return, even just to try more apps & drinks!"

"Restaurant was horrendously noisy. It is also not suited for larger groups. There were eight of us, we were very cramped, and the long table made it hard to talk.Staff was pleasant and our server was very good."

"I was in Harrisburg for an overnight visit. I wanted a place that was something other than a big chain restaurant. I found Home 231 on Open Table and strolled over a few blocks, to a historic neighborhood, where it is tucked unassumingly into two town houses. I was dining alone, but the manager greeted me warmly and seated me at a booth. Within moments, the waiter stopped by, took my drink order, and returned with the menu. This waiter pointed out that Home 231 focuses on local foods and home made products, and the simple field greens salad was full of house-cured bacon -- exceptional. I order steak frites for dinner and blueberry pie for dessert. Everything was great and I would recommend this to anyone visiting Harrisburg."

"We had heard very good remarks about the restaurant, the menu was okay, the only items that make it standout are the infused water and cocktails. The table we sat at had AC vents under the table which we requested to be turned down, it took 4 requests before anyone adjusted the AC temperature on these vents."

"I am a huge fan of this restaurant, however, my last trip was below expectations. First, they way overcooked my steak for my steak and eggs meal. Before I sent it back, I made sure I asked for medium rare, and the server put it in the computer as medium rare. Lastly, it took the waiter way to long to ask us if we wanted our check (actually he didn't ask, I just handed him my credit card because I had waited so long). This restaurant is typically spot-on with food and service, but this one time they did not meet expectations. I will return in the future, but this was disappointing."

"This cozy eatery has an urban yet warm and friendly vibe. While waiting for my friends, I had a glass of wine at the bar and was welcomed by the bartender. We dined in the main room, which we found somewhat noisy. Our waitress was excellent: she served us quickly and professionally and cheerfully answered our (many) questions. The only downside of the service was when the runner delivered our meals and asked who-go-what. We all enjoyed our meals, however, I was not feeling well so food in general did not appeal that evening. That said, my hangar steak was cooked perfectly, and the fries with the truffle aioli(sp?)rocked. In all, a lovely evening and dining experience! Parking lot half a block away is great."

"Perfection from the moment we sat in our window seat to being greeted immediately and ordering our delicious drinks! The pumpkin pie martini was a surprise treat! Our server was exceptional - friendly, knowledgeable and prompt. Our food was divine. The serving size was plentiful without feeling indulgent. Great quality for the money, which we found reasonable. We cannot wait to go back and bring our friends and family! While the bar and waiting area was crowded, the bar area was attractive and I would go in just for drinks and apps. I guess Saturdays are supposed to be very busy."

"It was our first time visiting Home 213 and our experience made us leave with mixed reviews. The bar was very crowded but we were able to order drinks quickly. I ordered the dragonfly mojito and my boyfriend got a beer. I was a little disappointed when my drink was done in about 30 seconds because they used pre-muddled ingredients which took a lot of flavor out of the drink. I only order one through the night. We were able to be seated early about 7:20. At a table closest to the bar, hostess stand and the door where there is an office. It has to be the worst table in the place. The food was good very small portions for the salmon dishes. I was unhappy the whole time I felt rushed and we only were there about 45 min. We won't be back."

"Your website's photos and expectation for casual business attire created expectations for an ambience that is not consistent with your photos, and your notation of casual business attire created expectations for a quieter, somewhat more formal atmosphere than that which we experienced upon arrival.
The food was excellent and we will likely return, however, I would suggest using photos that accurately depict patron dress and the informality of the restaurant.
Finally, while the menu prices are consistent with your advertises appearance and ambience expected in a restaurant patroned by customers wearing business casual, those prices were significantly high for a Sunday brunch and the interior quality one would expect in a more formal se"

"First visit to Home 231, and we will DEFINITELY be back! We're not "foodies" per se, but out tastes are just as particular. We didn't even know about the restaurant until we did a search on OpenTable in hopes of finding a new spot in town. We ate at the bar, and Dora attended to our every need with a smile. The beat salad and roasted red paper soup were amazing! We shared the delicious duck pasta special and the lamb meatball appetizer followed by the sour cherry pie served with a scoop of their home made vanilla ice cream. Only small suggestion is that the meatballs could have been a little more tender, and I bet that pie would have been extra yummy if it had been just slightly heated prior to serving. Thanks Home 321! C u soon."

"We visited here for the first time for our anniversary. What a find!! The restaurant was comfortable and not pretentious, but the food and service were amazing!! Our server Matt was flawless. My husband's soup of the day, chicken corn chowder, was delicious and obviously freshly made. My beet salad was fantastic! For the entree, my husband had the pasta special, with great home-made pasta. I had scallops which were very large and extremely tender. The accompanying winter squash risotto was outstanding! For desert, we split an order of their homemade donuts, which come fresh from the fryer with 3 dipping sauces. They were wonderful and more than we could finish so we took them home to enjoy later! Very highly recommend!!"

"THE EVENING WAS OUTSTANDING. Home 231 is loaded with neighborhood charm. The table choosen was a great pick, unfortunately, It was cold. The gnuddi appetizer dish was loaded with flavor. The beet salad was amazing (i could eat this salad a few times a day and not get board with it). The beet salad topped with swordfish........yum!! Fried donuts for dessert were sooooo good, actually too good. We usually don't order dessert, this time we ordered and finished dessert! Our server, Courtney was plesant and aware of every step of our dinning experience without being intrusive, which made for a great Anniversary Dinner! We can not wait to return."

"They are not about putting the napkin on your lap, or scrapping bread crumps from your table, or refolding your napkin every time you get up.
