Described as “one of Delaware's premier destinations for truly appreciating and understanding the dynamics of upscale food and wine” by The News Journal food critic, Domaine Hudson was awarded 3.5 stars (of 4) and recognized as "Closer to Perfection", and has consistently been providing a place for great wine and food since November 2005. Delaware’s first true wine bar, they offer almost 40 wines to taste in 1½, 3 & 5-oz pours. The award winning wines by the bottle list features a broad array of about 450 old and new world wines & 90+ craft beers. Frequently changing menu items allow the chefs to be creative and focus on quality ingredients. Small plate options, provide a perfect opportunity for wine pairing, or guests can simply choose from full size entrees. Whether you are an experienced oenophile or just want to enjoy some great wine/beer, the servers, who all have a knowledge of what they are pouring, can guide you through a memorable dining experience in an inviting atmosphere.

"We had an excellent meal at Domaine Hudson. The five of us had a variety of different dishes - soup, risotto, fish, hunt of the day, scallops, cheese platter etc . All were well prepared and very tasty. We also enjoyed a very good wine from their large selection. The service was attentive but unobtrusive and professional. Despite staying until quite late we never felt rushed or pressed to leave. All in all a first class experience. We will definitely return,"

"Rare, perhaps unprecedented, to enjoy a meal of this quality in Delaware.
An appetizer of beef bone marrow, with the bone, arugula, and seasoned baguette. Spectacular! Chased with French sparkling rose.
I had a pork shank, lovingly cooked for 4 hours, 'falling off the bone' doesn't do it justice. With a melange of hearty mushrooms and asparagus risotto. My wife had a rack of venison that she couldn't stop raving about.
Using the 'Vino App', we chose a perfectly-matched Cali syrah.
Sumptuous desserts, including a s-s-erious bread pudding with great dessert wines topped off the meal.
This is a chef and a restaurant at the peak of their powers. As friendly and professional a wait staff as you can find.
Hope this wasn't too subtle..."

"I knew Domaine Hudson was focused on wine, but I was very impressed by their Restaurant Week menu as well. Moreover, because they allow you to buy individual glasses of wine in amounts as small as 1.5 oz, you can pair a tasting of wine to each course without having to second-guess your ability to drive home. The papardelle was especially excellent. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine and did the pairings for one member of our party to her great satisfaction."

"Lovely setting, good wine selections (appreciate choice of small quantities for multiple samplings), generally good food tho smallish entree portions and limited vegetarian selections. Chef too generous with the sea salt on the otherwise perfect salmon. Delicious desserts. Very pleasant staff tho i thought waiter had a slight attitude when i asked from blue cheese dressing on the side and he corrected me by saying "we don't have blue cheese dressing, we serve blue cheese MOUSSE." really!"

"Although the wine list is impressive, the food itself left much to be desired. Portions were spot on, allowing you to order multiple courses. It was disappointing however to find that a restaurant with such a glorified reputation couldn't deliver proper temperatures. We were also surprised to be sandwiched into a corner table next to an obnoxious group when the restaurant was completely empty. I'll never eat at this restaurant again."

Wine prices are not exorbitant, but the overall cost of a modest mean with two glasses of wine can easily run to $60 or $70. "We really enjoy Domaine Hudson and stop there whenever we are in Delaware or going through Wilmington. The wine list is extensive, both by the glass or bottle. Food is well prepared and the service is always very good. The last time we were there, the noise level was a bit higher than normal because there was a table nearby talking very loudly. Usually, the noise level is fine and does not distract from dinner. Parking in the area can be a bit difficult."

"This restaurant is off the hook for wine, ambiance, decor and a total dining experience. Always interesting, always fun. A "10" atmosphere. The new owners are absolutely delightful. The food is consistently excellent and always prepared perfectly. Domain is a top special occasion stop. In our case, Valentine's Day. That being said, a bigger portion of what I ordered (filet & lobster) would of been appreciated to offset the next day effects of the wine. My husband says his meal (arctic char) was a good sized portion. We both feel a more generous bread offering, SOME vegetables and a starch should also accompany a meal. We will absolutely return."

"The food was really creative and tasted great and was well presented. The portions were very small. I don't mind paying a lot for a good meal but I hate going home afterwards and having to get a snack because I'm still hungry. I guess they expect you to fill up on bread so you don't notice and since I don't eat bread that didn't work for me. It's a shame because the food was outstanding. They just should have given us more of it. I have seen appetizers more generous than their entrees. The service was good, the atmosphere very cozy and the wine list was amazing. Now if they could just feed you it would be perfect."

"It's always wonderful when the service is as great as the food! The duck and venison were both tender and cooked perfectly. We have been here a number of times and the quality of the food and service is consistently great."

"My fiancé and I went and really enjoyed ourselves. We had a great waiter who was friendly and knowledgeable of the food and wine list. Every attendant that approached was cheerful and helpful. The food was priced fairly for the quality and portioned perfectly. All in all, we had a lovely evening out."

"My amazing cut of steak was overcooked and my spinach was too salty. The best thing on the plate were the onions. My date did enjoy his meal though. He had the pork shank.
Wine was good and atmosphere was nice. Wanted it to be more."
