DUO Restaurant & Lounge is the brainchild of two adventurous and entrepreneurial sisters, who know a thing or two about working in the restaurant industry. Stemming from a family of restaurateurs, sisters Lorraine and Sabina Belkin embark on their first ever self-owned and operated restaurant. Everything from the hand placed Swarovski crystals on the walls to the never before seen in New York illuminated menus featuring their contemporary American cuisine, is a result of the endless creativity that the inseparable Belkin sisters possess. Located in a neighborhood that has recently seen an influx of notable restaurants and deemed by many as "NoMad," DUO is slated for an early June opening and will feature a variety of show stopping contemporary American dishes.

"Absolutley love this place. went for a romantic dinner with my husband. It was a great experience. I loved the incredible service and the decor was just so spectacular. Duo is great for a date night, but I did see a whole mix of people. The food was beautiful and tasted even better than it looked. My husband fell in love with the short ribs and so did I, along with the calamari salad."

"Everything looked and tasted great. Love the lighted menus. The restaurant is dark and beautiful with candle lit tables and sofa like chairs. I took my friend out and we had a terrific meal. The service we recieved was wonderful and made the meal even better. My friend and I decided to make eating at DUO a monthly tradition. So we will be back soon."

"Went for a friends birthday celebration. Food was great, many great sounding apps and entrees to choose from. The calamari salad and the short ribs were delicious. Every plate I saw come out of the kitchen looked so good. I must go back again soon to try different ones. The restaurant has a very luxourious feel to it. The wine list had great options both by the glass and bottle. The menus and wine lists were easy to read because they light up when you opened them up."

"I wasn't sure what to expect, but me and the friends I went with were blown away from this place!! The food was delicious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Whe actual restaurant is gorgous!! It was a great night out. Also, there is a roof top bar really close by on fifth with a great view of the empire state building. An added plus!"

"Took a friend for a birthday celebration. There were many others doing the same. Food was great, many appetizers and entrees to choose from and all were excellent. Wine list is good and the menus and wine lists are back lit for easy reading. Only complaint was the bread was very dense but it allowed me to leave room for the meal!"

"Difficult to pinpoint what disappointed our group of 4. Service was hospitable (but borderline officious -- e.g., I was told that I should have confirmed the reservation prior to arriving, even though I had a confirmation email from Open Table), food was carefully prepared and flavorful, but not outstanding, in fact I can't say why we walked out feeling the experience was a near miss. Nonetheless, it is a venue that should stay in business, because I think it will continue to improve. Wish I could be more positive."

"Quality of ingredients excellent. Two of the three dishes ordered were far too sweet. at least the tortellini was unpleasant tasking in the ultra sweet source. probably would have been delicicious with the sauce advertised- braised osso bucco. One dish was deemed excellent (the duck)"

"You gotta love Duo restaurant! With its glowing menus, flashy decor, outstanding food and friendly service. I started with the tuna tartar, which had nice delicate flavor and texture. Yum! I then had the grilled salmon which was mouth watering and cooked to perfection! Finished with great cup of coffee and the Tirimasu dessert. The beautifully delicious food and glam setting added up to a very memorable dining experience. Loved every bite and looking forward to dining here."

"I have been here for drinks several times and just now finally I tried dinner for the first time. Really happy I did and wished I had sooner. The service was impeccable from the hostess to the waitress to the bus boy. The waitress was knowledgeable about the food and wines and very efficient and courteous. And the food---just superb. I have eaten in all the top restaurants in ny and duo belongs right up there."

"The service was horrendous. Our waiter tried to "up sell" us at every turn, and when we politely turned down his high priced suggestions, he became inattentive and standoffish. Despite us turning down all of his pricey swaps, we ended up spending $200+. We were not a cheap table, but he treated us like one. The service was unwelcoming, and I will not be returning."

"Good food, though overpriced even for Manhattan. The background music was not to our taste - constant thumping bass kind of like you might expect in a disco, though maybe the target crowd for Duo enjoys that."

"I made reservations and noted that it was a business meeting. Our waitress was downright obnoxious and the restaurant should manage her expectations. When she took our drink order, she rolled her eyes when my guest stated that he would have an orange juice. I didn't realize that it was mandatory to order alcohol. Due to her attitude, we decided to order only appetizers - we needed to stay because we had business to discuss but we didn't want to be there. So, we decided to keep the meeting as short as possible. With so many quality establishments in NYC, why put up with her nonsense?
This was not my first time at this restaurant but it will most certainly be my last."

"We received a gift voucher to dine at Duo.. The service was impeccable, and the food & wine excellent. One comment I would make to Duo & other restaurants who choose to participate in voucher options such as Bloomspot , Groupon or Living Social. Offer selected wines only but Exclude only the few items that may be of the "market value" prices, but otherwise, make the entire menu available. Our dinner at Duo included four options from the regular menu, in a wide price range of options, but somehow, giviing us a special menu felt wrong, like a second class citizens for having purchased a voucher for the restaurant. The voucher had a dollar value and got us in to try a new restaurant, but it would be nice to be able to choose f"

"We had a lovely evening. Our waitress was efficient and could not have been more friendly and warm. The individual loaves of bread they give you when you first sit down are adorable and tasted amazing. The cocktails we had were tasty. We all enjoyed our entrees, I especially loved the branzino I had. We also shared a few sides. The creamy spinach and truffle fries are must haves if you dine here. The decor is unbelievably stunning. Everywhere you turn there is something beautiful and unique to see. Since I was the one who suggested duo I was ecstatic when all the guests said everything was great as we were leaving the restaurant, then and there I knew I made a good decision. I will return again!"

"Very nice menu selection, great happy hour specials and very reasonable prices. Everything we ordered was excellent, even the salads were a cut above the rest. The food arrived quickly and delivered by a friendly, attentive, polite staff. My husband and I are sticklers for good service and Duo was a winner. You didn't have to search for your waitress, there was always someone close by more than willing to help with any questions or needs you might have. Decor was out right stunning and clean with pleanty of room to spread out which is a rare find in a NYC restaurant. Overall a great experience sure to please the most discerning diner."

"Place was dead! Only 3 other tables being used at 8:00 PM! Food was average to good. Prices are fair, but the portions are tiny. They charge for each ice tea re-fill ($3.50)! I know it's New York, but this is a turn off for me. The appetizer selections are poor. Place looks great inside, but no one is showing up."

"The luscious bustling bar is enticing as you walk thru the front doors. The dining area is immaculate and pretty. We were treated so well, they never rushed us or interrupted us. The food is imaginative and there's plenty of it. Many great specialty cocktail choices and I loved ordering from the light up menus. The desserts are worth the extra calories. "Overall outstanding; great food, beautiful looking interior, Efficient and fast service. Everything we ate was fresh and cooked perfectly including my Bronzino and my wife's steak. The Duo of tuna app was small but tasty. Did not get dessert. One star lost for service however for a very odd reason; it seemed like we were being served by one of the Stepford wives. Our waitress was very efficient, timely, and polite, but it all seemed contrived, and utterly emotionless and disconnected, to the point where it made my wife actually a bit uncomfortable. We will go back however, and will hopefully get a different server with a bit more personality which really adds to an upscale dining experience."

"Was first attracted to DUO by it's trendy interior and upbeat atmosphere. We arrived about 20 minutes early and grabbed a drink at the bar, the bartender was very attentive and had a great attitude. We were seated on time and were graciously greeted by our server. I had the tuna tartar for a appetizer which was delicious! Then me and my other friend split the hanger steak, chilean sea bass, and truffled mashed potatoes. It was the perfect meal. Overall the experience was very pleasant. The restaurant was a little busy, but I loved that the service was still very smooth. Will definitely be returning for more!"

"I went here on a Living Social voucher and was quite impressed. Great service, great food and a nice ambiance. Skip the soup and sweet potato fries. Instead, go for the Tuna Tartar, Calamari and Creamy Spinach. The Salmon and Osso Bucco were very good as well. For dessert we had a tasty Rasberry Chocolate Mousse. Our waiter was great, professional and had a sense of humor, too. We were never rushed and were there for quite awhile (at least 2.5 hours). The restaurant is very tastefully done. We were at a table for 2 and the chairs were nicely styled...large and quite comfy. I'll definitely be going back."

"Came to Duo for dinner. We had early reservations but there was a nice crowd at the bar. The hostess gave us a warm greeting and checked our coats and there was a nice big table already waiting for us. The service was friendly and helpful all nigh and the food was delish!!! The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. Every inch of the room was designed to the most minute detail. My favorite was the large crystal chandelier that looked like a large halo dangling above the dining room tables. There are beautiful paintings on the wall and and plush velvet seats by the bar. Even the plating of each dish I saw come out of the kitchen was pretty and light-up menus just added to the whole seen of the restaurant. Amazing!!!!"

"Top class service is the first thing that comes to mind about duo. We came in and were seated straight away at a perfect table. It's a really cool place, the decor is modern/hip and elegant. The peach passion cocktail and the bread was so delicious. I ordered the tuna tartar and the braised short ribs each was so yummy. The wait staff are trained really well here, impeccable service, they really know how to treat their customers. They serve food properly, right down to the minute details and all very discreetly. I like that it allows you to relax and makes you feel like you are totally in the moment and able to enjoy the experience. I will be visiting again for sure."

"My friend and I went there for brunch and it was just blegh. The waitress didn't know what the soup of the day was and when we asked if we could get a bowl of fruit she had to go and ask if it was possible. She then came back and says that it cost 9 dollars, which, let me tell you, it was definitely not worth! We had ordered pancakes and eggs benedict. It took around half an hour for the food to come out (there were only 4 brunchers at that time) and when it came it was so extremely disappointing! The pancake was super dry and required a large amount of water in order to swallow, the hollandaise sauce left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth and the canadian bacon was so thinly sliced, they might as well have left it out. Never again!!"
