"The grits and Parmesan cheese appetizer was delicious. Just the right amount of Sav Blanc added in for a little tease to the tongue. The chicken was perfectly cooked and so moist. A great local wine list. Hats off to the chef for a wonderful meal! AND the service was fantastic! Along with the owners who truly care if you have a good time and a great meal at their "home"."

"The wine list has many small local vineyards that I didn't know. So I described what I wanted to the sommelier, and she suggested the 2010 Bordigioni Zinfandel from Annadel Estate as an “all guns blazing” Zinfandel. It was wonderful.
I'll remember this evening for a long time.
I'll be back the next time I'm in the Sonoma Valley."

"This was my second trip to Olive and Vine...the first was originally to see some great live music, but the food and atmosphere was so great I knew I had to come back. Dining here feels like you were invited to a dinner party at the home of a wealthy world-class chef. The town of Glen Ellen is beautiful, the restaurant is historic and lovely, the food is the best you'll find, and the staff (including the owners) are very friendly and attentive. It is a bit spendy, but this is exactly what fine dining should be. Highly recommended."

"This restaurant is one of our "go to" places to celebrate special occasions. We celebrated an early Mother's Day
here and loved it! The salad could not have been more fresh, the chicken and halibut were perfectly
prepared, and rhubarb and strawberry tart with vanilla bean ice cream was a perfect end to a fine meal.
We also enjoyed choosing a wine from their fine wine list. The service was top notch. And the ambiance
is formal with a charming Glen Ellen vibe. A family nearby had a long table, with flickering candles, and
they appeared to be enjoying the festivities. They were enjoying the fine food and service offered by
the Olive and the Vine. This restaurant is not inexpensive but you get a superb meal, carefully
prepared."

"Every dish is filled with fresh, local ingredients so tastily prepared. There are new items on the menu as the seasons change. This time I had the sturgeon - a fish people sometimes avoid -and it was superb! The staff are very professional but also friendly, and the owners greeted us as well. We've come many times and will continue to do so."

"This is a bit of an adventure. The journey includes getting there, entering the restaurant and being patient. The food is well prepared, however, there are big gaps of time where guests are unattended and feel a little forgotten. Plus, I had noted 65th birthdays for people traveling from out of state, and they totally blew it off. Why ask? Our flavorful noshes came in a timely fashion and were very tasty - black cod dumplings and grilled lemon zested calamari. We were looking forward to the next course and waiting and waiting and waiting...35 minutes passed, and we were delivered our salads. There was another twenty minute wait before the main courses. And, another twenty following for desserts. Coffee orders were forgotten."

"We have been to Olive and Vine several times. The food is fabulous. The service is efficient, but not exactly warm. The prices are high especially because everything is a la carte. There was a neighborhood special the night we were there and it was a bargain compared to the other entrees, sides etc. We would love to visit the restaurant more often but the prices keep Olive and Vine in the special occasion category. Go expecting fabulous food, good service, and if choosing from the regular menu, a bill to match."

"We enjoy this restaurant because it is a special place in Jack London Village. It is a white napkin restaurant but has a relaxed atmosphere. Food is always great--consistently. We both has a potato califlower soup and it was so tasty! My husband usually has a fish dish, and he always likes their seasoning and interpretation. This time was no exception. He also loved the fruit crisp and I liked the walnut cake. We recommend this restaurant and think it is a treasure in Glen Ellen!"

"Been before - food excellent as always. We enjoy the eclectic ambiance (mismatched chandeliers with old rustic wood floors, etc.) Seemed too busy for the number of wait staff. Could not get attn of server to order. Very long between courses (but we were enjoying the company at our table). Hungry - had to ask for more bread/butter. Three of us ordered a $10 glass of wine; waitress suggested bottle which wouldn't cost more - but it did at $40/bottle. Yes, we got a little extra splash of wine - just would have liked to have made that choice myself. Another staff member mentioned a new serving system so maybe that was what was bogging them down. It was just enough to detract from the dining experience and not rate this an outstanding evening"

"The dining room is beautiful. 40 ft ceilings. Great open kitchen and bar. Food was good. Good wine selection but no half bottles. It might have been an off night as it was restaurant week and it looked like there was a server being trained but we had a few concerns with the service. I would try the restaurant again."

"We love the fresh, inspired menu and the fine preparation at Olive and Vine. The wine list is fantastic and the variety on the menu makes it hard to choose, great fish, lamb, duck, beef, chicken. pasta, risotto, plus delicate and creative accompaniments. The favorite thing for me is that the chef, Catherine Driggers, stays true to her style, which is warm hearted, genuine, and delightful -- like her! People from all over the county come here, devotees of Olive and Vine's masterful event catering, and now her beautiful, welcoming restaurant has us hooked as well! John Burdick, sommelier, has put together a fabulous wine list and changes it up in the same inspired way!"

"We went here on our anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased. Everything was outstanding. We had the lamb chop and the soul filet. both were done to perfection, especially the reduction sauce serve with the lamb. The bread pudding for dessert was also a winner. We highly recommend Olive and Vine and we'll definitely return the next time we visit the Sonoma valley."

"I had made a reservation two weeks prior for 2, but then had a visit from friends, so called to say that 2 more were coming. They said that I would have to reserve another time. Are you kidding me? You can't accommodate TWO more people at a table? Geez, maybe you should think about improving your logistics.
I dine at a lot of pretty nice establishments and I'm usually pretty generous when it comes to restaurant reviews because I understand that there are off-days, etc., but, although the food was good for the most part, the amount of wine pour per glass was pretty stingy and I don't think it was worth the reservations hassle. Most places are much more accommodating without the attitude."

"Even though the restaurant was almost full, the noise level was low enough to maintain the romantic ambience.
Although I don't eat a lot of fish I ordered the sturgeon, although I was thinking "halibut" (which I like) when I did! No problem, it was delicious! Service was efficient and attentive, yet everyone was very down to earth and friendly, not pretentious. The best thing about the service is that everyone is attentive, not just "your" server.
Portion sizes were just right. The Okinawans have an expression "80% full is good," meaning if you stop when you feel 80% full, later you won't feel overstuffed. So we had room for dessert, the chocolate cake and the apple and cranberry crisp, both great.
Expensive but worth it!"

"Excellent food and ambiance but unfortunately an off night service-wise. The lamb was perfectly cook, savory and accompanied by a wonderful mint 'salsa', which is one of my favorites to date. Another highlight was the brussel sprout salad. I could have eaten two portions. And the meyer lemon chicken received high reviews from our guest. The restaurant also boasts an extensive wine list, including a number of small local wineries. It's hard to go wrong with the 'local' selection in Sonoma, but nice to see them support the up and comers as well."
