Restaurant at the Getty Center
Featuring one of the best views in Los Angeles, The Restaurant at the Getty Center offers a fine dining menu in a simple and elegant setting. The Restaurant's Chef focuses on using the freshest local and regional ingredients and presenting them beautifully and tastefully. The Mediterranean-California inspired menu utilizes global influences to create an experience that is delicious, ambitious and creative. A distinctive wine list and full bar are also available.
The menu is market driven, using produce from local growers and the Santa Monica farmer's market. The Chefs have worked closely with local farmers to ensure the best possible product. Careful attention is given to sustainability with regards to seafood. The menu changes weekly to keep up with market changes as well as seasonal changes. Food service at the Getty Center is managed by the Bon Appétit Management Company.

"This was my first time at the Getty. We were there celebrating my graduation from UCLA and t couldn't have Ren more perfect. iAds my reservation online with no problem. We showed up and were seated right away. After lunch, which was really good, we wandered around looking at the scenery and artwork. It was a pretty perfect day!"

"There's not a more inspired menu, skilled chef, delightful ambiance, or magnificent view in town! We have dined here as a couple, with family, and have brought friends from out of town knowing we can always count on fine cuisine, excellent service and warm hospitality at reasonable prices. "I ate with three friends at the Getty Restaurant for my birthday lunch and we had a very enjoyable time. The waiter was attentive, the food excellent and the view spectacular. We spent several hours enjoying each others company and talking about the exhibits in the museum. It is well worth the price and made my special occasion that much more special."

"I gave my mother "Brunch at the Getty" for Mother's Day. Although we did not go on Mother's Day, we did go on a Sunday and had a fabulous brunch. Everything was very fresh and tasty. The restaurant is very nice and we have never been disappointed with our meals there. I definitely recommend the Restaurant at the Getty Center, but one usually needs to make a reservation, especially if you plan to go on a weekend."

"Our Getty Center restaurant was lovely. Service was attentive without being overbearing. We ordered 2 appetizers each and felt quite satisfied. They even allowed us to linger over coffee and delicious "small bites" desserts well beyond their closing time! The dishes (a special soup - potato puree with touches of crab and albacore tataki) were well prepared and beautifully presented. They were appetizers but - especially the soup - servings were more than I would have expected from the price and appetizer designation. The tables are far enough apart so that you aren't overwhelmed with other tables' noise and the view of the mountains is spectacular. The restaurant adds a special touch to a day at the Getty Center."

"In summary, highly over rated but poor SERVICE. Was celebrating my mom's birthday, lunch for 4, spent $180 for less than perfect meal & service. Waiter was bothered by me when I reminded him that we were celebrating my mom's birthday. We had to wait for our bill literally 15 minutes just to get the bill.
Getty museum and ambiance is so perfect.. yet, restaurant exp. was dreadful.

"What a spectacular location we came here for lunch on Saturday and had reservations for 12:00pm seated immediately although we did asked for a window seating but it was not available. The service was truly amazing the staff was so attentive and friendly. There was four in our party we all ordered something different and found the food quite tasty. Love the bread baskets that kept coming around."

"Do not let the tram ride discourage you. This place is amazing and totally worth visiting even if you did not spend the day at the Getty museum checking out exhibits. The food is among the best I've ever had and the views create an ambiance that's hard to match. The service was perfect. They space out courses so you don't feel rushed, you can enjoy your food and have a wonderful experience. It's not a cheap place but worth every penny."

"We had the crab cake and heirloom salad as appetizers. The crab cake was nothing special and the tomato salad could have featured riper tomatoes. One of us had the Bouillabaisse and the other the sea scallops. Both entrees were too salty. The presentation of all plates was very nice, but the food did not taste as good as it looked."

"The Restaurant at the Getty Center has beautiful views in most directions, with many floor-to-ceiling glass windows (ask for a table at a window; there are tables in the middle of the room, as well). The food is well-prepared, and the service is attentive and professional. Good selection of wines (including several offered by the glass), beers and mixed drinks. The noise level is low enough so that conversation is easy, without yelling. Luncheon is expensive.
The magnificent Getty Museum is situated on top of a mountain, so you must arrive at the parking area at least 30 minutes before your restaurant reservation, so you have time to find a parking space and take the scenic tram ride from the parking area to the museum & restaurant."

"To be able to relax and enjoy the views offered while exploring the museum was truly a treat. We found the restaurant's style in perfect harmony with the rest of the Getty and enjoyed the view and comfortable seating immensely. I was amazed by the amount of tables that our server was handling and though he was quite professional and didn't miss a beat, I could tell that he was distracted and pushed to the limits of his skills. The food was lovely, but we all agreed that it lacked seasoning. Having dined two days ago, we sit here struggling to remember what we ordered...but I can still recall the view. It would not have taken much for this to be a perfect experience, just a little more substance vs, style."

"The Restaurant at Getty Center was really wonderful. We had reservations on Mothers Day and we were seated right away in a beautiful table. The entire restaurant has amazing views. The menu was limited but every item was fabulous sounding. The three of us each had a different meal and each one was outstanding. The service was great and the entire experience was everything I had hoped for my Mothers Day."

"I try to eat at the Restaurant at the Getty Center whenever I go to the museum. It's beautiful, the food is exquisitely prepared, and the service is always fantastic. If you can eat outside, I recommend it: the views are incredible, and there's almost always a pleasant breeze that makes even a hot day very comfortable. I've tried items from all over the menu: salads, entrees appetizers, desserts and I'm always pleased. Without a doubt, this is the best restaurant of any museum eatery I've tried and it's one of my favorite places to eat."

"I had been here before and was looking forward to it. But it was very disappointing and I won't go back. There are too many truly good restaurants in LA. The bread was stale. They would not open a bottle of wine that a friend brought despite the fact that there is a limited wine list. We were willing to pay corkage but they simply do not allow this?? Never heard of this happening. The food came and my friend had the halibut which was quite nice. I had the ravioli which had nice flavors but was overcooked, I could barely cut it with a fork & knife. Just not the restaurant it use to be!"

"The setting and food were both excellent. Service is wonderful. Allow at least 15 minutes to park and take the tram up to the restaurant. Definitely a place to go when you have time for leisurely eating and want an elegant restaurant and beautiful view.

"This is a beautiful restaurant, open and airy. We've dined there before, and usually have been happy, but this time quality appeared to be slipping. The 'skillet' (an egg dish) was tasteless, the duck confit was misconceived and poorly executed, and the entree selection was very limited. The positive side was the delicious appetizers (recommend the salmon and the cheese plate), good selection of wines by the glass (the Au Bon Climat Pinot is outstanding) and friendly, attentive service. I am giving my recommendation based on past experiences, hoping this visit was an aberration."

"I was dining alone before a film screening at the museum. I ordered a $141.00 bottle of Pinot Noir and the lamb entree. The side of cous-cous with underwashed chard was sandy and inedible.My server, who was sympathetic, said he would inform the chef and the manager.I asked for another side and did not send my plate back because I had eaten 2 of the 3 chops and had a film to attend. I was brought a bowl of plain, unseasoned cous-cous (no chard). The manager did not come to my table until I was about to leave and I CALLED HIM OVER. He seemed unconcerned with my experience and did not offer a reduction in my bill. I will never eat there again and I will tell everyone I know."
