"Celebration was in full force for two friends having birthdays... waiter was great with recommendations and details to menu items. I have never, ever had a bad meal here! Wines were affordable and we closed down the place. And the nicest thing is they didn't turn on the lights or start sweeping the floors to get rid of us. Great place to celebrate any occasion; the menu accommodates kids, sushi lovers as well as non-sushi lovers!"

"PL8 has to be our favorite Barrington restaurant! We have dined at PL8 at least once a month and the meals have always been delicious! Service is always good. If you don't place a reservation for a Saturday night be prepared for a wait but you can eat at the bar if space is available. Sushi is very fresh!"

"First time there, even though I must have walked past it numerous times. Friend suggested we go there for dinner and I enjoyed everything very much, except my company unfortunately. Servers, manager, bartenders, all outstanding and very attentive. I will be back, probably solo but will be back"

"We have enjoyed dining at Pl8 numerous times. The food is consistently good, with a very large selection of Pan-Asian choices. They offer a children's menu with standard American choices, as well as child-sized Asian dinners. The reception and wait staff are always extremely friendly and observant of needs. Great for dining with family, or later evening as a date night or with the girls/guys."

"The Signature rolls are fantastic the Shark's tooth was the special today and the flavor combination was great. Have tried the Tuna Poke and Godzilla also our favorites. Make room for dessert, banana wontons are deliciously warm wontons wrapped around banana and chocolate. Service at Pl8 is always friendly and the staff is very knowledgeable about the menu."

"The hostess greeted us with a short story of the history of the restaraunt which began the nite to great meal. Our waitress was friendly, shared comments of the most popular dishes, made some great suggestions for appetizers and entrees, and gave us great service. As if that wasn't enough,the food was awesome. From the Shark Tooth appetizer(snow crab,avacado, apseragus separated with totrilla chips, drizzled with a sauce,),to the basil shrimp, and molten chocolate cake,everything was just as the waitress described it, delicious! Can't wait to go back and try some of of thier diverse menu."

"Where to begin? This was our first dining experience here and while our table was ready, they offered to hold it while we had a drink at the bar! After drinks we headed to our table where we trusted the server for ll of his recommendations off the menu. The blood orange martini was divine.
The cold peanut noodle and 7 seasoning chicken were incredible! Our sushi was equally delicious!
Decor was hip, vibrant Asian fusion... Cool downtown feel in the suburbs!
Bottom line: the food was excellent, the service was fantastic and when in doubt, ask the server for a recommendation!"

"Delicious! If you crave sushi, you must try PL8! My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous meal at PL8 on Saturday. The restaurant was busy yet we had great service and delicious food. We started with the dumplings and one of the sushi specials for the night. So good! For our entree, we split the beef tenderloin with broccoli and a second sushi special. We left very full and very happy. Can't wait to go back."

"We went around 6pm so there were a surprising amount of kids there. Not a problem at all as they were all well behaved:-) The food was amazing and the service was perfect. Our waiter suggested great additions to our meal that made it complete. I highly suggest the crab Rangoon chopsticks and the tuna avocado appetizers"

"PL8 serves authentic modern Asian cuisine. It reminded us strongly of the better restaurants we went to in China and Thailand. We love the non-traditional menu items and the combination of flavors. The decor is trendy and could just as easily be downtown as opposed to being in a suburban mall."

"All of our entrees were overcooked with vegetables too soft, overly sauced and salty. I ordered the peppered beef tenderloin thinking it would be slices of beef, but it turned out to be hunks of beef that were deep fried. It appears that the veggies are cooked ahead of time and then added to the protein in the dish as the orders come through. Tasted like typical chinese restaurant food, but at twice the price. I was hoping for fresher tasting food. The restaurant had a cool design and an urban feel, but the food still tasted bleh! Place was crowded on Saturday, and I don't know exactly why. They offered sushi, but not a sushi bar where you can watch the chef. Must be made in the back. This was my first time here and I won't be back."

"I am amazed that the prices are so reasonable sine Pl8 likes to serve a lot of farm to table items where ever they can. The food is fantastic, and I can honestly say we have NEVER had a bad piece of food. The staff is incredibly courteous, competent and friendly. If my husband and I really have a craving to go out, Pl8 is our go to spot."

"I have been to Pl8 approximately 4 times. 2 times on a weekend and 2 times on a weekday. The weekend times, the kitchen & waitstaff have their "game on". Weekdays, not so much. The meals on the weekends seem focused and spot on, while the weekdays is a different story. I believe consistency is the mark of a matured and team-oriented kitchen staff. I believe Pl8 is still working on these.

"nice selection of red wines that are reasonably priced. Having eaten Calamari from top restaurants all over the country, the calamari appetizer was one of the best, if not the best we've ever had and all 4 of us were in agreement. The sashimi (smoked salmon) appetizer was excellent as well. Between the 4 of us we ordered 3 meals and shared between the group and that worked out very well.
First time here for all of us and we definitely left the restaurant eager to come back. Very relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. Lively/comfortable bar, great place to relax before dinner."

"Fantastic Chinese New Year - completely entertaining Chinese Lion dance! Although the restaurant is small, the Lion was able to wind its way throughout, even through the kitchen! Excellent food and ambiance. Make reservations early for Chinese New Year 2014!"

"Fantastic dinner again. We shared the Godzilla, Volcano,Tuna Poke,Dragon,Firework Salmon and Rainbow rolls. My favorites for spicy flavor are the Tuna Poke,volcano, Dragon and Godzilla. This is a great place in the burbs, atmosphere is contemporary and fun. Service is always excellent. The waitstaff is very attentive and knowledgeable. Great place to come with friends and try new things on the menu. Save room for dessert, the Chocolate Banana Wontons are deliciously warm and yummy. WE tried the 3 happiness Mochi never had before and they were fantastic a Rice dough filled with Mango, cranberry and chocolate ice cream. We will keep coming back!"

"My wife and I were seated promptly at our reservation time.
Our waitress was very friendly and patient with all our questions.
He knowledge of the menu was impeccable.
Due i think the my tardiness in placing my reservation, our table was right in the main aisle near the entrance and the bar.
There seemed to be a lot of activity around us at all times. The noise levels were also quite high I think due to the close proximity of the tables and the fact that it was dinner time on a Friday night. It didn't detract from our experience and certainly would not stop usfrom returning to this awesome little gem.
The food was fantastic and despite a full house, was served promptly
I think pl8 is a wonderful place and recommend it to anyone."
