"Tidepools on the Grand Hyatt property was the best place we dined in our 2 week stay on Kauai. This really surprised me because typically food in a hotel setting isn't this special. The setting was lovely and the service was impeccable. The prices were pretty much in line with other fine restaurants we visited during our stay but I would say a cut-above. We will defiantly go back there when we are on this island again."

"Food was very good; service/waiter was just OK. Not overly expensive. The hostess & front staff were efficient but don't do much in the recognition department, no welcome , no eye contact, we were wisked away to our table at a light jog. Interesting approach to seating guests, we had made a reseravtion a week prior and arrived a few minutes early, at the time the restaurant wasn't busy. Despite requesting a window table we were seated at table in the middle of room and watched while the window tables were populated over the next 30-45 minutes. It was almost wierd that the restaurant was seating people like that."

My wife was a bit unhappy with our table location and when I mentioned this to the maitre d' and the fact that it was her birthday, he immediately moved us to a much better spot. Not only that - we also got a free desert, the best they had, ice cream on top of chocolate cake. Delicious... All in all the meal was great, a great romantic outing for a special occasion."

"The ambiance was unbeatable, and the prime rib was excellent. I loved the waterfall, hungry Koi and the swans. Our server, Andy, was very personable and attentive. I thought the menu was very small and a bit disappointing. They took ceviche off their appetizer menu (which I was looking forward to). This was our last night in Kauai during our 2-week vacation, so I was hoping for something really special. It was really good, but I can't quite say it was the most amazing meal I've had."

"This place was great! The food was delicious and the drinks were tasty. Andy was a great server and nice enough took take our picture when my girlfriend asked. I would recommend Tidepools and go again before I leave Kauai."

"We enjoyed a Valentine's Day dinner at Tidepools on 2/14/2013. Our server Emerson was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive and very courteous. The food was served hot and delicious. It was cooked just right and very flavorful. The hut-like atmosphere was fun and romantic. We were seated between 2 gorgeous Koi ponds, however it was in a walkway, and we would have preferred to be a little more secluded, but overall it was a great evening."

"Sitting over a pool with koi surrounded by Hawaiian trees and flowers created a most unusual and special ambiance. A special treat for someone from the Midwest. The food was incredible. Calamari was uniquely prepared and the ahi melted in my mouth. The only advice I would share is to bring a shawl or jacket. We were there in February and since it is an outdoor delightful experience we did get a bit chilly"

"This place has really gone downhill in recent years. The food is now sub-par and the service is friendly, but inattentive and not terribly helpful. You don't have a ton of options if you're marooned at the Hyatt without a car, but Tidepools can be avoided and you won't miss a thing."

"This was the perfect place to celebrate my guy's birthday. The setting was beautiful right next to a beautiful waterfall. We shared the calamari and the crestacean soup which was outstanding! Phil had the prime rib and I had the seafood combo. We both had wonderful meals but the part I really enjoyed was the surprise lava flow giganatic brownie oozing chocolate from it with ice cream. Yummy :) Thank you so much for a great evening!"

"We had a fabulous evening and meal at Tidepools! The crab cakes were some of the best we've had with tons of crab meat and no filler. The Ahi and Mahi were cooked perfectly, moist & juicy with wonderful sauces and we enjoyed the creme brûlée. A very beautiful and romantic evening with great service and ambiance."
