"Being local, we see how the quality of food and service can vary. Yum Cha has been consistently good. The restaurant has large windows which look out over a lake and golf course toward the mountains. The service is always great and the food is excellent."

"The setting is open and airy with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the 18th hole of the Poipu Golf Course. If possible, try to arrive before the sun goes down so you can enjoy the view.
Our server, Rory, was terrific with offering suggestions of his favorites like the Ginger Martini-a must have for cocktail connoisseurs. For dinner, we tried the Pork Sui Mei, the Tempura Shrimp, Chicken Pad Thai as well as the Short Rib entree. There was enough food for three people and it was delicious! We ended the meal with a Kona coffee fried ice cream, which was perfect!
I am fortunate enough to live close by so I'll be back for more!"

"Went there 5/11/2013 because of all the positive reviews. Overall the appetizers were decent but portioned for 1 person, not for sharing. The wonton was not impressive. The duck was ok but slathered in sauce. Side dishes were ok but again nothing to rave about. Tempura veg/ shrimp.. I wouldn't order the shrimp again as the serving was 3 small shrimps disguised to look proportio on a plate 5x it's size. The beef also tasted .. Like fast food made to look gourmet. Desserts also was mediocre. Had the fried Ice cream which was proportional and heavy but not a Wow. Service was great! Wouldn't go back."

"Our server Harry was excellent. Lychee Pomegranite martini was delish! Thouroughly enjoyed our meal and scenery. Didn't understand why servers were wearing baseball caps though...."

"Food was really great...we've had better servers in the past. The last one does not really impress us at all...the busser had more personality. Always checking on water...clearing plates... pleasant, smiling, very attentive. The pad thai presentation has changed...I like the old version with egg on top."

"Great Asian fusion food! We loved it. There was even a fire alarm that went off during our dinner (sizzling dish) and we stayed to finish since the food was so good. Not to be missed. Beef with asparagus was really good. Pot stickers were awesome."

"The food was delicoius and the service superb! All the dishes have a modern spin on Asian food. Dessert is wonderful if not Asian. Don't leave without trying the deep fried ice cream!. I am not a big ice cream lover but the ice cream is covered in vanilla pound cake and then fried. The mac nut is the best. We went back again two nights later."

"Usually excellent food and service, but this visit was a disappointment. We sat for a very long time before being served our first course with no explanation. Same thing happened with the second course and it arrived luke warm. They gave us a free dessert to compensate which was a nice touch, but would have rather had our food on time and hot."

"The food was mediocre and the restaurant seemed deserted, and we were there on a Saturday night at 7:30pm. There are a lot better options for dinner around the area."

"The food and service was very good. We had the tempura vegetables and there was a large platter served with many different types of vegetables....too much for 2 people. The shrimp pad thai and the Kung Pao chicken were also very good. The only complaint would be that the Pad Thai could have been hotter...it was served lukewarm. The servings were large and we had plenty left over for lunch."

"Fantastic service and great food! Gluten-free and vegan friendly. We went both as a couple and as part of a large group and both times were terrific. I particularly enjoyed the sauce on the edamame - so delicious."

"The wok fired lobster and shrimp was delicious, as was the Szechuan beef with asparagus and long beans. Pot stickers were also very tasty. Try the lilikoi infused sake for an Asian-Hawaiian drink..yum!"

"Thought we'd try something different for Valentines day dinner, this restaurant had 1 special for Valentines, which we opt out of. We did have the dessert and that was good. Heart shaped red velvet cake w/Lilikoi filling, yummy! However, the food was overly salted and beware they use MSG in their preparation. I had to ask, as I started getting a headache and my fingers started to swell... Oh boy, not good. By the time I realized it, I had eaten most of the main coarse. The wine list is pathetic, No champagne, and to set the mood right for valentines day dinner, they had on Sports on Television...really? No red roses, No champagne.., Not even a "Happy Valentines"! Bring your wallets though, cause it's not cheap. total w/1 bottle wine $200!!!"

"The food was excellent in terms of mixed flavors, presentation, and portion. The decor was lacking for an Asian Fusion restaurant of such great flavors. The waiters apparel seemed inappropriate, too relaxed wearing baseball caps and shirts untucked. The service was also too rushed to allow one to sit and just enjoy the presentations."

"Great food: Emerald Island Fish, Korean crab pancakes, steamed broccolini w/hoison sauce, fried ice cream and tiramisuhi. Lots of gluten free options available. Great service: Our water, Tim, was friendly & knowledgeable without being asskissy or overly casual. Great view: sat by window w/view of golf course and Kauai mountains."

"Casual with a view of the 18th green with Great food. The lobster and shrimp had a slight kick to it but even my husband who doesn't like spicy loved it. The shirt ribs are so fork tender and very tasty with a little Asian sweetness in the sauce. Tim is a waiter who knows the menu and his recommendations on what might complete the meal or complement various dishes is always spot on. Chocolate sushi was unusual and a fun dessert. No trip to Kauai is complete without a dinner at Yum Cha."

"One of the few high end Chinese style restaurants on Kauai, Yum Cha is consistently good. Standouts from our last visit were the spring rolls (a must have!), the crab fried rice and the shrimp and lobster entree. The menu is not overwhelming huge, but nicely varied and offers a good selection to accommodate most diners. Our party included diners who were vegetarian and others on a gluten-free diet and they were able to easily find tasty dishes to meet their needs. Overall, an excellent addition to the Kauai dining scene."

"Went to Yum Cha two nights in a row. We are Kauai residents and are always looking for a good restaurant. Setting is fabulous, decor and staff excellent. Food was uneven, some was superior and some was barley edible. Desserts were weird and two rich to follow such light fare. The quality of the rice was subpar considering it is a staple of this kind of cooking and a local stand by, have had better at road side stands."

"We enjoyed the large variety of Asian dishes served here. Fusion cuisine artfully served . Gerry distinct flavors from one dish to the other . Our table of 5 enjoyed all the dishes. Especially the sizzling Korean pork and the Korean crab pancake appetizer. Reasonable prices for the area."
