"Our experience was fanstic. The service was truly great and our server went above and beyond to accomodate my needs. The charcuterie selection was lovely and the crab cakes were much larger than I anticipated.
I was concerned about the service based on the reviews but this was not at all the case. Our server was attentive and offered great suggestions."

"The ambience was calming, decor nice and modern. The food was delicious ( especially the short rib poutine) and of course a great selection of wine makes for a wonderful evening out. Thanks for making our Wine Club night amazing."

"We arrived and were escorted to our booth - this booth was really to small for 4 people, we all touched knee's. Waited long enough for a waitress who seemed less than enthuised to see us. We ordered drinks, I had a wine sampler, being a wine bar, I thought this would be a logical choice. It seemed that the first glass in the trio had been opened to long, less than impressed with the soup bowl sized bowl of popcorn for $8. Menu items looked small for the price so we decided to eat elsewhere.
100 had a wonderful waitress (Katie) and we had large dinners for the same price if not a little less."

"We loved the atmosphere, the food was amazing!!! Only down side was the service, our server was not very attentive and the only way to get another drink was to ask, and even then only got one of the two drinks we ordered."

"Moriarty's is always fantastic; service this time--for the first time--was really slow, inefficient and she added three things we didn't order to our bill... But it is still the place to go for good food, great wine list and exceptional ambience."

"I would like to see a little more options on the lunch menu. The food and service was good but due to the limited selection would be difficult to bring friends, staff or other to this wonderful gem for lunch. I was suprised by the lack lustre lunch menu - great appetizer options but not a lot to select from for a lunch."

"Moriarty's is a great pre-Citadel venue. The small-plate special was just right before the play. The wine list was outstanding. The waitstaff were attentive and made sure we made it to our show on time."

"Although the food was delicious, the portion of my meal was very small, and I would have liked the option to order a regular size steak (6oz or 4oz would be a good portion size) rather than a few slices of steak on a lot of sauce. The idea of small portions is ok, but it seemed everything was an appetizer size. The decor of the restaurant is lively."

"It was our first visit for the group of 6 of us. It had been a long time since we had seen each other and wanted a quiet comfortable place to catch up. Darren looked after us when we were there we left it up to him to choose our wines and food. He did a fabulous job, he gave us a taste of many items on the menu and some great wine selections to go with them.
I would highly recommend Moriarity's for a larger group or a nice night out for a couple. We look forward to revisiting and sitting on the patio when that season finally returns."

"The food was interesting and well-prepared. The service left a lot to be desired; not very friendly and we found it odd that the 4 dishes we ordered (for 2 of us) came all at once. By the time we got to splitting the 4th dish, it had cooled off."

"Food was a pleasant surprise - quite a bit better than we expected. We went because it was downtown dining week, they had an appealing menu and we wanted to try a place we hadn't yet been to. The server was perfunctory, certainly not friendly (until it came time to pay the bill, at which point she perked up considerably). The portions were huge and the food was both flavourful and well presented. We liked the decor and the atmosphere but the music was a bit too loud to really enjoy our meal."

"Went on a lunch date with my wife. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious, although my sandwich was like 1000 degrees when I got it. It still tasted very good, just burnt my fingers when I went to pick it up the first time. I think this is probably a one-of situation. I would definitely recommend."

"We were left waiting for almost 5 minutes even though no one was seated at any of the tables on the main floor. The chairs were plastic! You've got to be kidding me! The decor is 'chic and trendy' but where do plastic chairs fit into that? The waiter spoke under his breath and took a long time bringing us water which was served at room temperature and without ice. My wine was brought with the water even though I asked to have it with my meal so it sat and became room temperature also. The Lamb Bolognese came barely warm and only one of our five selections had flavor except the salad. Outside the window we were seated beside was the hang out spot for the smokers on the street. Not very pleasant for dinner view!"

"The atmosphere was great and our server was superb. They was great live jazz. The food wasn't that great. We initially ordered a halibut entree and it was dry. The manager offered a half-baked apology by saying that it was a preference. The chicken salad that was brought in lieu was delicious though."

"The wine is great, the food left a lot to be desired. The special of the night was halibut (but they started out with only 7 pieces of it) our table had ordered 3 and but got the last 2 in the restaurant and one of us had to reorder. It was paired with "risotto" that was plain old rice, maybe even minute rice. The dinner was disappointing, they took it back, the manager insulted us and said how fish is done is a matter of preference. Umm really, how my steak is done is a matter of preference, fish should never be dry, chunky, and crispy on the outside. We finished the evening off with lovely ginger cake which was served warmed with caramel sauce and ice cream. It was delicious!"

"Reservations were made via open table for Valentines and later confirmed by Moriarty's via telephone as they needed the visa number to charge $75 in case we did not arrive. When we did arrive at our scheduled time we were advised it was a set menu. We were going to the Citadel and not planning to have a full dinner. Although the restaurent was not full - early diners were being rushed through. The appetizer was a bit cool and dried around the edges. The entree was well done and mostly hot. The dessert had a bit of freezer burn after taste. There was a 18% gratuity added onto on bill even though we were a party of two. Service wasn't at that level - we didn't even have our cutlery changed -the cheese sauce ended up on our table and stayed."

"When we made our reservation for two at 5:00 on Friday, we were unaware of the happy hour specials offered so this was a sweet surprise to our visit. The cocktails and red house wine were delicious and paired excellently with our appetizer dishes of olives and edamame. We opted for the small dishes of mussels and lamb ragout - keeping the menu at hand if that did not provide enough food for our supper. The portions were satisfactory for us and we topped off the evening by sharing a piece of warm gingerbread cake. My husband, who does not usually care for dessert, announced it was the best dessert he'd had in quite some time."

"Had a great time! We were early for our reservation and the waitress for our table wasn't ready yet for us so we sat at the bar until our table was ready, the bartender was great and helpful choosing a wine. When we were seated at our table we had a good waitress, and when our waitress was busy all the other staff were very attentive. Great place for a date night with good wine and food."

"The food was great! We really enjoyed the.smaller plates. It was a great way to try several things on the menu. The cheese plate was phenomenal and the chimney sticks were very good as well.
Our server was very helpful with the menu and suggested a very good Chilean wine.
We will definetly be returning for another sample of their menu!"

"I always enjoy going to Moriartys. The same two servers are always there when I go so it's nice to see familiar faces and they must love working there so it's nice to see consistency. However on a weekend evening with a full house there should be more staff. I only saw the two servers and the bartender which made service pretty slow. But the food (crab cakes and edamame) was fantastic!"
