"My husband ordered the fish special and enjoyed it very much. I had the linguini with clams; they were gritty, containing sand. The sauce on my crab cake was very tasty but the crab cake itself was rather bland.
I enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant.
Service was very good."

"Outdoor patio dining on El Paseo. Always good. Sandabs are a good bet..also the poached salmon. Liked the martini and they have several good wine choice by the glass."

"When traveling to California, a good fish to dine on is the sand dab. It is a treat for me since it is not available in the Midwest. This offering attracted my wife and I to this restaurant but when we perused the menu we noted the special, Chilean sea bass, and it caught our eyes. We opted for that. Wow, what a good choice. It was one of the best meals I have ever had."

"Have eaten here many times which reflects my satisfaction with the whole experience. Seating is sort of outside inside so on hot days only misters contribute to cooling. Food is always good and prices are typical for El Paseo restaurants."

"Not a bad meal, but the menu and atmosphere could use a little modernization. We dinned with friends, and we both brought our kids, so we did fine this a good location to bring children."

"Another pleasant evening at the Cafe Des Beaux-Arts. One of my favorite restaurants in Palm Desert. Consistently delivers an above average dining experience."

"s. We had barely finished our food when the waiter wanted us to order desert. We replied we weren't ready for desert yet. The next thing we weere being handed our checks. We looked around to see what the big rush was, but there was no one waiting for a table. We refused the check and ordered desert. As soon as desert was finished our check came. The check was delievered by one of the managers or owners who grabbed the the check and plate out of my husband's hand only to leave the check and card with my husband and retrieve only the plate. He offered no aploogy. We would not return again. This was not a pleasant dinning experience!"

"One of our favorite places in the desert. We visited recently for both lunch and dinner and were not disappointed either time. The luncheon scene was especially vibrant, busy but not too crowded, included a fashion show and great food and wine. We highly recommend Cafe Dec Beaux-Arts to anyone looking for an excellent and fun place to have a great lunch."

"Went on a warm pleasant evening. Hoped for a table that took advantage of it. Did not sit anybody outside. put as at a table beside a pillar, closed the window near us, room was warm and stuffy. We requested table near window which just vacated, waiter said no problem, then came back and said no. Had the impression that a favourite just walked in and took it. Food was mediocre. Overall not a pleasant experience. Would not go back. Many other better places on El Paseo"

"I had enjoyed a previous visit very much. However, this time the service and ambience were disturbing. Our waiter (the owner??) was very gruff and almost confrontational. The milk curdled in the coffee and it took 3 of them to eventually bring a new cup, fresh milk and a spoon! They brought our bill before asking if we wanted dessert. When we asked to see the dessert menu, the waiter whisked away our bill as if we had done something wrong. He then proceeded to have a yelling match with one of the other waiters before eventually returning with a menu. We are glad that we endured this ordeal as the desserts were the best part of the meal."

"After having been here for breakfast on several occasions and having a great experience, we booked for dinner for 7 and were greatly disappointed. Seated by the window the traffic noise made it very difficult to have conversation. The service was slow and unattentive and the food was less than wonderful with soggy salads. Doubt we will ever return for dinner."

"We have been coming to Café Des Beaux-Arts for years, mostly for lunch. The atmosphere is always lively, the service excellent, and the menu is unique, consistently well-prepared, and reasonably priced. Although some of the traditional French bistro fare can be a bit rich, there are a lot of lighter options on the menu, especially the wonderful salads. Some of our favorite things include the poached salmon salad, the curried chicken salad, the crepes, the vegetarian quiche, and the fabulous flan for dessert."

"Located on a corner of El Paseo, during high season, reservations are a must. The menu is classic French with a strong Mediterranean influence. They have several great price fixed meal options. Portions are generous. Luckily they have "half order" options for dessert which are the perfect size to share and satisfy your sweet tooth. The service was wonderful, attentive but not smothering. We brought a very nice bottle of wine which they graciously opened and poured for us. My only complaint would be the wine glasses should be upgraded for really nice wine."

"Extrememly hot on patio and tables very close together. Owner has extremely arrogant when we asked him a question. Hot air was blowing down as though the heater was on (by mistake naturally) but he responded "of course I always put the heater on when it's 90 degrees out". Whoi needs overpriced lunch and nasty owner, not the 5 of us. Would not retu"

"The food is some of the best dining food I have ever eaten, and was very modestly priced for the portion size and most of all quality. The service matched the food in superiority and quality. We have since recommended Cafe Des Beaux-Arts to friends who had the same gret dining experience. Highly recommended restaurant...we will return!"

"Cafe Beaux Arts isn't new and it's not hip or flashy but the food and the service was the best we had during our weekend in the desert. I ate at a lot of places this weekend that spent all the money on the decor (which got me in there once) and forgot about the food. This restaurant did the opposite. We will go back."

"One of our favorite places to eat in Palm Desert. The quality of the food is consistently excellent as is the service. The menu is delightful with choices for a variety of different tastes, although we would recommend the traditional French dishes. For desert have the fresh berries in the Chambord with cream, its one of the best deserts we have ever had!"

"Great food choices prepared perfectly, as well as great service. The half outdoor dining with the plastic wind protectors and artificial trees, that kept rubbing our backs was the only negative point in an overall great dining experience. We'll be back!"

"I was disappointed by my main course. I expected a full chicken breast, but what I got was a bony tigh with little meat and a tiny breast. I would not serve this dish to my worse friend. The service was adequate but lacked a cordial waiter. The three other guests liked their meals."

"The person who "welcomed" us was rude. They tried to seat four of us at a table for three. The room was cramped - everyone was on top of the next table. The Chilean Sea Bass was probably some other fish. The Steak Au Poirve was a poorly cut piece of tough meat. In general one of the worst meals we have recently had anywhere."

"My wife and I went to Café Des Beaux-Arts for dinner on Valentine's Day. I was surprised that the regular wasn't available. Instead a fixed, limited number of 2- or 3-course meals at something like $42 and $45. The crab cakes served as the appetizer were mushy, with a consisency more of a spread than a crab cake. My and my wife's dinners were okay, but nothing special, as were the deserts. All in all, a disappointment at a premium price relative to Café Des Beaux-Arts' usual menu."

"we have had brunch, lunch and dinner here thru the years several times. always consistently fresh, excellent food and highly varied menu. quiet background allows easy conversation. one bit of constructive criticism - Host + Owner rather stiff and formal. would be much more pleasant to be greeted with a more relaxed demeanor and warm smile, as warranted in a French Bistro."
