Jake and Telly's Greek Taverna
In 1997, brothers Telly and Jake Topakas moved to Colorado from Philadelphia and opened Jake and Telly’s Greek Taverna, then simply known as Jake and Telly's Bar and Grill. Though at the time the brothers were relatively young, they were third generation restaurateurs and had gathered much second hand experience and knowledge from their father, uncle, and grandfather about the restaurant business.
They soon noticed that many of their customers were enjoying the Greek specials they were offering over the standard American-style menu items and thus began the transition from a bar and grill to the only full-service Greek restaurant in Colorado Springs.
A few years into the business, Telly and Jake became interested in carrying a better variety of Greek wines and began educating themselves about wine and food pairings in general.

"Went to Jake and Telly's to celebrate Mother's Day, for my mom and I. There were six in our party. The staff was attentive and friendly. I like that the owners are interactive with the patrons. It was a great experience and the food was delicious (as always). We will definitely come back in the near future."

"Our dinner was very good, and the wine excellent, We were celebrating a birthday, so dessert came with a lit candle--VERY good! All in all, a very enjoyable evening--romantic, and relaxed. Our server was very professional, but friendly. We enjoyed talking to "Chloe.""

"I took my wife here recently for our anniversary. She loves Greek food and we have always had a good experience at Jake & Telly's. She's a vegetarian and she can always find something on the menu she likes unlike many other local restaurants. The best time to go is during the summer when you can sit out on the patio. They always do a nice job and the staff is always friendly and attentive. I wish I could eat there every week!"

"After reading reviews prior to coming - I was VERY excited at the prospect of experiencing this restaurant. However, I was disappointed. Somewhat spoiled by actually living in Athens, Greece for three years while in the military - this was NOT even close to being authentic Greek cuisine. The assortment of meat in the the Gyros Platos was closer to Spam than something cooked fresh on a Gyros Vertical/Upright Rotisserie. The tzatziki was far too thin and did not have the "bite" of authentic tzatziki. Even the ouzo was a cheap imitation, as it did not have the strong licorice aftertaste from its homeland.
The service was good, however - and I really liked they had a restaurant-wide toast with Ouzo to bring energy to the establishment."

"It was my first time to Jake & Telly's and I can't believe I've never been there before. The food was excellent, the service was great, and our group had a very enjoyable lunch. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and I will be back for more."
