Boulud Sud
Chef Daniel Boulud’s vibrant Mediterranean menu offers flavors from France, Spain, Italy, Greece, North Africa and Turkey. There is an emphasis on grilled fish and meats as well as an abundance of fresh vegetables. With an entrance on West 64th Street, Boulud Sud is just steps from Manhattan’s Lincoln Center and is adjacent to Bar Boulud and Épicerie Boulud.
Monday through Friday Boulud Sud offers a $29.00 three-course lunch in addition to our a la carte menu. Sunday brunch is served from 11:00am-3:00pm with a $32 two-course prix-fixe supplementing the regular menu. At dinner, Boulud Sud offers our full a la carte menu as well as a $60 three course prix fixe menu featuring Boulud Sud classics and a 7 course tasting menu showcasing all of the flavors of the Mediterranean at Boulud Sud for $115. For lighter fare, join us in our bar and lounge open from noon daily.
Three private wine themed dining rooms are available for private events.

"The service personnel - waiter, greeters, wine steward - all friendly without being gushy, well informed and helpful. The tidbit to start with (sorry I forget the French word) promised an adventure. The octopus over arugala was excellent though the aioli wasn't seasoned sufficiently, needed more garlic zing. The rib eye was just ok with the sauce, a bagna cauda, very inappropriate. The spring peas were a nice touch as were the roasted shallots and potatoes. I would judge the main course as average. The sommelier did help us pick a nice bottle of wine in the affordable range that complemented all courses especially the cheese (which was a bit skimpy). Still for the $60 prix fixe I would go back."

"First, I was struck by the MANY things I wanted to order, THEN that the offerings were unusual without being 'precious', but most of all the food very satisfying, and quite delicious. We found a great Red wine from Santorini, & the staff was very friendly, yet efficient. Definitely a PLUS for people like us who visit Lincoln Center often."

"The noise level was nearly unbearable when we first got there, but gradually people left and we could have a conversation. The food was okay, Some things were good, some things were average. "The food was fine, but ended up being somewhat overshadowed by the terrible service. The waiter started out mildly enthusiastic, but at least present, and the quickly became completely overwhelmed- and it was only a Saturday lunch! The ambience is also a bit bland and feels like a cafeteria. I would have been disappointed if I had come here for dinner, but for lunch, it is okay."

"The food was not particularly exciting and we had to rush dessert because there was an odd lag between main course and desesrt/coffee. I was interested in my first dish, which included steamed fruit, but it did not offer any great revelations of flavor. Nor was my second dish outstanding: ratatouille and chick peas fries. I found the chick pea fries novel and enjoyable, but the vegetable dish was not flavorful in any interesting ways. The lemon compote dessert was pleasant but my companions gelatos were less thrilling. Perhaps an off day???"

"The octopus appetizer was perfectly done. In all the dishes, there was a pallette of flavors. The teas available on the dessert menu were high quality and served correctly. Inexplicably, our initial server totally forgot my cocktail order, and I never mentioned it, having reconsidered; nor did he. A different server took over when the meal was served, and he was excellent, and perhaps the original serverwas just in a rush to go home. Overall, great dining for lunch, great view with a window seat or a kitchen view, and, of course, not inexpensive, but good value."

"Boulud Sud is a restaurant with outstanding ambience and good food. However its prices are much higher than average for these features. For example, $18 for a Ketel One martini is unconscionable.. Also portions are quite small.

"Amazing food. One of those restaurants where you just know that anything you order will be absolutely fantastic. My only qualm was that the waiter told us the bronzino was $50 and served two people, but it ended up being $50/person (i.e., $100) on the bill. Other than that, a great evening."

"A bit too hapening and west side chic. Tables are close, conversations blend into each other and there seems to be a bustle even after 11pm. The front desk seems to be the only weak spot and some diners can get lost in the frentic activity. All of that being said, the menus offer something uniqe for those who are tired of the usual upscale fare and most dishes are incredible. The wine list is excellent and reasonably priced. Go for the food and the energy, but this isn't the place for romance."

"My son (11) and I had a great experience here before going to ballet. The food and service were outstanding! I was called to confirm my open table reservation. The waiter(Kevin) took special care to explain each dish to my son. He offered to have have any dish altered for my son if necessary. Several people checked on us during the meal. The waiter also selected an excellent wine to pare with my meal. The seats provided privacy and the decor was modern. The attire is formal with jacket and tie. Not sure if it was required but it elevates the level of dining. My son had octopus appetizer that melted in you mouth. The rabbit was also delicious with a light broth. We will certainly dine here again."

Our table was ready per reservation and the waiter was aware of food allergies as listed on our Open Table reservation. The room was vibrant, but not loud. Comfortable tables and chairs that were well-spaced added to our experience. Service was impeccable. Ample staff worked together as a well oiled machine. The menu was not overbearing, but offered several standards as well as some outside the box items. Wine list was complete. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner- not too fast, not too slow. Our waiter was always nearby, but not hovering.

"Went here for a quick meal before a movie and we told our waiter that we were a bit pressed for time. The staff were wonderful and brought us our various courses in an expedited manner and we were perfect with our timing. Thank you!! The dining room is quite pretty and large - there were lots of big groups and kid friendly too! Our appetizer and mains were delicious - the dessert was a bit disappointing and small. Overall we enjoyed Boulud Sud but would probably just go to his main restaurant (Cafe Boulud) instead as it is one of our favorites - we consistently have amazing food and wonderful service. It's slightly more expensive but worth it as you get a proper meal, service and more intimate dining experience."

The service is friendly, even in the pre-performance rush, and the room is inviting and adds to the experience. "I was rooting for something spectacular, especially because of the restaurant's provenance. It turned our my experience was mixed. Shrimp and artichokes were excellent, the Mediterranean mezze was fair. But, nothing so memorable that I would "have to go back.:" Prices didn't bother me except the $5 for tea. Waiter was not around when we needed him (ordering and asking for the check). I enjoyed that I wasn't rushed through the meal and able to enjoy it and my company."

"Boulud Sud offers a modern interpretation of Mediterranean cuisine using the best American and European seafood and vegetables. The presentations were lovely and the food delicious. We especially liked the soups, Soupe de Poisson and Vidalia Onion Soup, and a boned quail wrapped in skin. We were offered an interesting wine list that included selections from our favorite regions such as Langedoc in France. Our visit was a very satisfying experience and we will go back."

"We had the 7 course tasting menu and were very pleased with the dishes. They were beautifully prepared, consisting mainly of fish and sea food thus allowing for a lighter but very filling and satisfying meal. The service was courteous, thoroughly professional and warm."

"The food, service and attention to detail never falter. My only problem is the sparkling water offered upon being seated, which then shows up as a charge on your bill. It's a minor point, given excellent food and wonderful wait staff, but it's annoying."

"Very good food, well prepared in a very noisy, lively environment. Attitude is clearly how much can we sell you and how fast? Small portions besides. Overly impressed with own attitude, even the caller who called to confirm (an open table reservation?) left her message so softly stated that we couldn't hear it unless we turned up the volume to highest level. Really? Give me a break!
Dessert was star of the meal.
Wouldn't recommend except that it was a Ross the st from Lincoln center.
You could definitely eat less expensively and with less attitude in almost any other non Boulud place."

"Nothing special for such high prices. Very little choices for dinner, I think there were only 5 entrees to choose from. I had a steak that couldnt of been more than 5 ounces. And it was very ordinary, as was the whole restaurant. Service was good and the waiter was very nice but nothing special. We will not be returning to this place."

"While I have been to Bar Boulud it was my 1st time at Boulud Sud.Place the reservation asking for a table and special seating for 2 as this for a reunion and wanted to have little more intimate corner! my request was disregarded and we were sat smack in the middle next to 4 diners while lots of seating was available! the food was great and the sommelier wonderful in helping us to select a wine. our waiter put our bottle of red out at the main counter so we spent half of our diner trying to get his attention to serve us - in the end i insisted he leave our wine at the table so that my partner could serve us at our leisure ! Not acceptable to have such poor service! totaling embarrassing evening vis-a-vis the person I brought there"

"we had a nice experience here and the food was good. the only reason i gave it a 4 overall was that none of the dishes were truly that memorable to give me that "wow factor." drinks at the bar were nice as well and the wait staff was very good. i walked away pleased with my experience."

"We arrived on time, our table was not ready no big deal, went to the bar and waited, after a while my wife went to the receptionist who acknowledged that she forgot about us.
We order a plate to share and some appetizers, evyrhing came at the same time. We had to ask to take back the apppetizers while we finished the first plate.
We ordered a bottle of wine that was left alone in a service table even though our glases were empty. Getting the attention of someone to serve the wine was an adventure"

"True it's not Daniel, where I was with my husband two times before. But we were expecting a descent service and some space to talk quietly. May be because it was mother's day night, every thing was erratic and absolutely out of control. The food and the wine which finally reached our table were very good. I would recommend this restaurant but not during any kind of national celebration."

"Recently took my mom for lunch when we were on a tight schedule. The server managed to make the lunch seem leisurely but was highly conscious of our request to be done by a certain time and kept us handily on our schedule. He was a real pro. This simply added to an already great experience with excellent food and a beautiful room."

"I have eaten dinner there several times and it has been special. For brunch, not so much. Food was kind of ok. Service wasn't terrible whenever one could find the waiter, which wasn't easy. 180 bucks for brunch should result in a better food experience."
