Lavendou, a retreat into the French countryside - a place where life is savored as much as the food. "This was our second dinner at Lavendou, and this time we brought with us another couple. Again, we enjoyed our visit, although there was one problem. I ordered the mediterranian sea bass. When I asked how it was prepared, the waiter neglected to tell me it was served whole. The presentation was amazing, but it was extremely difficult to eat because there were so many small bones. The last thing you want to do at a nice restaurant is pick bones out of your mouth. Also, there were a few overlooked scales, another unpleasantry. I would have never ordered this had the waiter answered my question appropriately. Happily, we were not charged for the item. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed the pork tenderloin."

"We always enjoy Lavendou Bistro. Our dinner on this occasion was wonderful, as usual--and the service could not have been better. On this night, the Thon Ahi Antiboise (grilled sushi grade Ahi Tuna with Cucumber Relish) was cooked to perfection...and absolutely delicious. Additionally, the soup of the day was a 'borscht' like we have never had before: a tasty beef broth with vegetables galore! The cozy atmosphere and the friendly, efficient staff, as well as the delicious fare, keep us returning time after time!"

"We really enjoyed our dinner here. The service was a bit slow at times, but we really liked our waiter. Our food was delicious. One thing, with a lot of restaurants, the food comes out warm, but not really hot. Here it was piping hot. I had to wait for awhile before I could eat it. The wine is excellent. The coffee is excellent."

"Even though the food and service were excellent, we were given the worst table in the restaurant. It was our anniversary, and we have been looking for a good place to celebrate various dates throughout the year since our favorite celebration restaurant closed. Unfortunately because of the table situation Lavendou won't be that restaurant.
We normally eat out at least twice a week plus about 8 times a year for celebrations."

"The only sour note was a side of asparagus. Priced at 6.95, the 6 beautiful spears had to be treated like the Godlike subjects they apparently were!

Otherwise, the sole with crab was perfect and the portion was excellent for the price. One of my guest had the Gambard Coquille St. Jacques and fell in love with the dish.

I cannot say enough good things about the apple tart. Even though it shared the table top with a chocolate souffle, it stole the show!"

"My sister just moved from Washington DC and was looking for a French restaurant to replace the one she left behind. She was pleasantly surprised in Lavendou. She raved about the escargots and the Veal. My Sole was divine and my husband's Tournedos were the best! The Grand Marnier Souffle(?) was the icing on the cake. We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience."

"Very reliable for a special evening. Very busy on Valentines with groups and couples. Reservations vital on this day. Good options on set price menu. "We had a wonderful experience on Valentine's Day. The food was very good, and despite the fact that the restaurant was packed we were able to talk easily with everyone at our table. The service was a bit slow, which we understood given that every single table was filled, and we were not in a hurry. I do wish our waiter had been a bit more helpful with the wine list, but the wine pairings on the menu were good suggestions."

"We had a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend meal. Although it was crowded (understandably with the holiday) we did not feel too squished in and were able to carry on a conversation between ourselves without having to shout. The food was excellent as always with my husband enjoying the Tournedos Felix Faure and me devouring the perfectly cooked duck. Souffles are always excellent here and this night was no different. We're glad this place is one of our neighborhood spots and we highly recommend it."

"With this being my first experience here, the service was aweful. Upon walking through the doors, there was no one available to show us at our table (we had to look for a host). After being seated, our menus were dropped and no one guided us through the process. A few minutes later, someone took our drink order and left. We received no interaction from whomever was to be our waiter (we had no idea who that was). After noticing tables around us recieving their beverages and meals, someone finally took our order without explanation or offering suggestions for dinner. I could continue to speak about such lousy service, but unfortunately, there is not enough room available. I would not reccommend this place to anyone."

"went there for thanksgiving. fiance and i were engaged in paris.... and this parisian food was PERFECT to commemorate. Great service despite the Valentine's Day rush... food was delicious. "Wow! I had a business meeting there with a two other ladies, and I got so much praise for picking this spot to meet. I live very close to this location, and I must say, now that I have found you, I will conduct more of my dinner meetings, and maybe even some lunch meetings there as well. When the weather is pretty this spring, I intend on coming back with my friends and sitting on the cozy porch and sip on tea or wine with my friends. Excellent food; excellent service; fabulous motiff; and great location! Don't change a thing!!!!"

"Lavendou Bistro is one of our favorite restaurants in the Dallas area. We've been there many times, and the food and service are terrific. My only quibble is that on busy nights the noise level gets fairly high. Otherwise, we love it!"

"We had high tea at Lavendou. The price was great, and the food was about right for the price. The service was great, and we really loved the tea. The atmosphere is wonderful with the french theme throughout the restaurant. I have eaten lunch here before, and the food was always good, so they have been consistant with their food and service."

"Not at all pleased with the dining experience. Poor service, food was marginal at best. I realize it was a busy evening ( New Years Eve) but during the entire meal we felt rushed. Seems all they wanted to do was push more customers through.

No personal touch. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH LAVENDOU BISTRO. Staying home and having a bowl of Campbell soup would have made for a better evening."

"Have been there many times and always enjoyed the experience and the food. However, on New Year's eve (very early) the service was not attentive, the food was precooked, the choices were very limited and the meal was terribly expensive ($65). All in all, it was the worst New Year's Eve meal I have had in Dallas in the past 20 years."

"The food was good but the wine list was an absolute embarassment. We priced four or five wines while we were at the restaurant. The average mark-up was 5 to 7 times retail. This is just unheard. We ordered a Hahn Cab that was $49 that retails for $7 and a Peierre Lichin Bordeaux for $150 that retails for $25 to $30. Also, the service in a less than 50% full restaurant was leaden and almost non-existent. The 2 waiters needed help but didn't get it since the restaurant was understaffed and were working their tails off. A VERY poor experience. We will NOT be going back to this very poor excuse for a French restaurant. I spent $432.00 for no reason."

"We celebrated our anniversary with lunch at Lavendou. The food was outstanding. The bread was just out of the oven - wonderful. The beef sirloin was very tender and tasty, perfectly seasoned. The French Onion soup was outstanding. The lamb chops were excellent but the grilled vegetables were overdone."

"The food and wine were great. My escargot appetizer was scrumptious! However, several parts of our order got messed up, they brought me a teapot of hot water and never came back with a teabag, and never brought my husband's dessert, which required additional time to have the bill adjusted to remove the missing items. They did offer us a free dessert on our next visit. Prior experiences at this restaurant all had much better service."

"My husband loves fine dining more than most things in life and he put this on his top list of places to go. We usually go towards downtown Dallas to eat and we live in Plano, so this was a great find! We also asked the waiter if we could take the wine bottle home with us, because we want to research the area to buy the wine."
