Salute E Vita, remains a home away from home for all lovers of food, art, wine, friends and most of all family, which is who we consider everyone dining with us to be. Our house made desserts, risottos, soups, pasta sauces and salad dressings are created daily. We are best known for traditional homemade Italian fare with fresh and delicious California cuisine. Whether you are in the mood for pasta or a magnificent entrée salad, fresh seafood or steak, you’ll find it here in our 100-year old Cape Cod Victorian that overlooks the marina waterfront with an elegant and welcoming fireplace dining room, an indoor veranda with stunning views of San Francisco or on our outdoor patio overlooking the Bay. We have a saying here, “at the table, no one grows old” So feel the passion for good food, beauty and friends and join us for lunch or dinner; we have your table ready!
"Food was nothing special and prices were $$. Half-shell oysters were tasteless. Salad (Cesar) was run of the mill. Salmon was just OK. Waitress had memory problem or was too busy even though the place was far from full. This was a special event that went wrong due to the wrong venue."

"The owner was having a big part that night. The staff was focused on the party and we waited and waited to have water glasses refilled, dessert menus, and finally the bill brought to our table."

"I went on Open Table on Mother's Day looking for a place to eat. I have been to Salute' many times, and overall, their food is good, happy hour is great, the view of the marina is very nice. I booked our reservation for 1:30pm, they were fairly disorganized, taking people before others, who'd been waiting. I really was relaxed, so this didn't bother me too much. They found a small table in the side of the bar with a view and the food was fine, service a little slow, but they were super busy. We had a great meal, of oysters, salad and a shrimp dish, and a little lemon tart. I'll go back but think twice before booking last minute on a busy holiday."

"The food used to be better. Now it's irratic at lunch time. I've even had a couple mediocre salads. I often meet friends there for lunch as I live in Marin and they are in the E Bay, I love the view and ambiance, so I hope they improve the cuisine"

"Best Happy Hour ever! Menbe is so wonderful. Dinner menu always has a nice selection and great specialty cocktails. Wonderful views, perfect on a hot day or at Sunset. So happy to have found this place. My new favorite!"

"This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent food and ambiance...and a beautiful owner with such an inspirational story. Everyone should take the time to review their website. Excellent Oysters on the half shell, delicious Salmon and the Mushroom Pizza was fantastic! Thank you for a wonderful experience!"

"This was the worst food with the worst service of any experience I have had in a restaurant in at least five years. We waited for more than 30 minutes to order, then waited another hour before our food was served. We will never return."

"I always enjoy Salute. The food is consistently good and the service is friendly. We had a booth along the water which is always nice and is a lovely way to enjoy a meal. I had the sole which was good but very small pieces - not what you would expect with petrale sole. I love the spinach that comes with the fish. My friend had a pasta dish which he said was excellent. Salute is a wonderful spot in a city that only has a handful of really good restaurants."

"What a delight! We've eaten here many times, and have always enjoyed it immensely. It was Valentine's Day, and early, but the food and service were stellar. Their special Valentine menu had all of us drooling. Too many interesting choices, and none of us was disappointed. The halibut was perfectly cooked , and the sauce and accompanying sides were delicious. The grilled salmon also had a wonderful twist to it as well. It was obvious that the fish was fresh. The seafood pasta was devoured, and, unfortunately, he didn't share!! Our server was there when we needed him, and not at all obtrusive. A thoroughly memorable evening!"

"I found it was a pleasant spot for a nice quiet, romantic, dinner for two. The price is very reasonable for a water front restaurant. I'd say it was italian with a California cuisine overtone. I had Salmon with mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach which was cooked to perfection. My boyfriend had steak cooked medium rare (exactly how he likes, but rarely gets eating out), steamed veggies, and sauteed spinach. We both cleaned our plates & shared a whip creme fraiche topped strawberries. The service was really on top of it, even giving us room temp water as requested (you wouldn't believe how hard that request is to fill). All staff is dressed impeccably, even the bus boy, who offered to wrap up my boyfriends steak bone for our dog!"

"We enjoyed a fabulous Presidents Day lunch. We asked them to split everything for us which they did beautifully. The salmon was perfection and the veal was awesome. Service was great and the view of the marina was an added treat. The beautiful young Diana Ross look alike greeted us warmly when we arrived and set the tone for a perfect late lunch! We shall return!"

"My wife and I went here for Valentine's Day dinner. We were excited to try their regular menu but they were serving their Valentine's Day menu. We were pleasantly surprised but a little disappoint. We really wanted to try their original menu. I thought the food was just ok. We really enjoyed the service, the atmosphere and the view. We will come back to try the regular menu!"

"This was our second visit -- we live in Oakland and don't often get up to Richmond for dining, but were passing through on our way home after a day with friends in Marin. We're very glad we stopped for dinner. We sat in a booth overlooking the Richmond Marina. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. My wife had a seafood pasta dish that I tasted; it reminded me of one of the best meals we had in Italy, in a little cafe on the Cinque Terre. My veal scallopini was also very good, though not quite in the same class. Our friends were also very pleased. Reasonable wine selection, fairly reasonably priced. Service was friendly, attentive but not intrusive. I think this is a terrific restaurant and wish it were closer."

"When I arrived I checked in and told the hostess that I was waiting for the other two people in my party. I did not know and was not told that they had already arrived and had been seated and spent 15 minutes waiting for them before I called them only to find that they were already here! Very poor communication from the hostess station. So, be sure to look for your friends throughout the restaurant because the hostess may not tell you they are there! We greatly enjoyed our meal."

"Had lunch and selected the special salad of the day. It was nice greens, grilled prawns and smoked trout. The dressing was light and tasty. Out of season tomatoes added color but not a lot of flavor. It is such a pleasant setting, you can't help but enjoy being there."
