"We needed a good restaurant for a business dinner in the SW Metro. We had not been to this location and found it worked well for us. They were prepared and staffed to meet our needs. The food selection was good and everyone indicated that they had a very good meal. We were able to have conversations around the table without competing with noise levels from other areas."

"Had a wonderful dinner at the Blue Point in Bloomington. Had been to their location in Wayzata before, and was pleased to find such an airy and spacious location (albeit a bit out of the way) in Bloomington! We enjoyed selections from the excellent wine list, and the oysters on the half-shell were delicious (we ordered Kumamoto oysters, which were very very small, but tasty!). For dinner, the scallop and duck plate was a wonderful combination. Thank you!"

"We had great service, the food was terrible however. It was tough for me to write this but if your in the biz to sell food, sell good food. My wife's "roll" entre was a hoagie roll lobster meat sandwich. As I recall, the menu describes it as if it was sushi... Needless to say she was disappointed. My fish n chips were over cooked and I had a tough time scooping up enough fish to dip in my tartar sauce. We will probably not go back to eat, my wife liked her wine!"

"Great seafood! Definitely a chef who respects the fish and does them justice. They also have exceptional salads. Nice size wine with a good variety of both domestic and imports."

"This was our second and last time at Blue Point Bloomington. The food is only fair and doesn't compare to the Blue Point in Wayzata. If we want to have a good meal, we know that we can expect more at the other location. We dine out alot and with all the great restaurants in Minneapolis/St Paul, there is no need to go back to this one."

"Somewhat of an odd location but the food was excellent! They created an entree for my husband that wasn't on the menu to meet his desire for a walleye dinner and not just a sandwhich. I had the scallops and duck which I think those were the best scallops I have had. A nice glass of wine, a small portion dessert. Great night. Our server was informative and had just the right amount of check ins. I had been there once before for lunch and had the mahi mahi sandwhich which was to die for. I really like this place and will return again!"

"Food and service are good but shrimp cocktail was very disappointing. Server persuaded us to get that rather than the peel and eat shrimp, telling us that it was excellent and that the peel and eat shrimp were "on the small side". For $15 we imagined that the shrimp cocktail was either a lot of regular sized shrimp or five or so jumbo shrimp, that you wouldn't normally get. Turned out to be five regular sized shrimp for the two of us. Not quite sure what would make that "excellent" and if that's the size of the shrimp cocktail what size were the peel and eat shrimp?"

"Had dinner on a Friday evening with friends. Food was very good, service was excellent. Bar was empty by 7PM...obvious that the social group attending was local office staffs. Not a bad thing, just saying..."

"Blue Point restaurant was a total disappointment. Starting with the cheap table tops with no table cloths to the cheap mushroom top salt and pepper shakers and flimsy Glassware, it felt like we were dining in a restaurant that was cutting corners to stay in business. The service matched the table top ambiance, it was clumsy and our Server had no clue about proper service standards. During our dinner we had drinks served on the wrong side of the setting, failed to clear plates when we were done with our appetizer course, served the lady at the table 2nd on both the Soup and Entree Course. Servers were bussing their own tables which made things worse. Blackened Salmon was burnt beyond recognition and tasted awful. I would not recommend."

"The food was very bland and over priced for bland food. Our server said the Brazilian Moqueca was a 7 on a scale of 1-10 for "heat." I would say it was a 2 at best. The black grouper was good, but a bit bland. It was a unique menue, but I'm not sure if I would recommend it."

"Great variety of fresh seafood and a few chicken and beef items for those who don't like seafood. Delicious selection of fresh oysters that you can order in any quantity or combination so you can try a free served with wonderful fresh grated horseradish and a delightful champagne vinegar sauce as well as traditional seafood sauce. Our dinners were cooked perfectly and beautifully presented as well as delicious. Our server (I think her name was Darcy) was wonderful-- very knowledgeable about the menu, very farm and professional knowing how to pace service and be attentive but not intrusive."

"I have been dining at the Wayzata location for years and was excited to try the new, closer to home, Bloomington location. The menu options were diverse and included unique combinations of ingredients. Both meals were presented beautifully, were fresh, and had great flavor. The creamed corn accompaniment and simple house red wine were particularly good.
Everything was going great until the end of the meal when our waitress quite forcefully advised us it was time to leave because she wanted to close our tab and go home for the evening (9:15 pm). It is possible that because they are located in an office building their focus is on the lunch and happy hour crowd, hopefully with additional business they will welcome late night diners."

"Food, service and atmosphere, all good. The only thing I did not like is one of my biggest pet peeves in the restaurant experience happened - when the server tries to talk me out of the wine I selected. If you do not like a wine on the menu and whenever someone tries to order it you suggest something else, well then by all means, TAKE IT OFF the menu so it's not even an option."

"The four of us had a wonderful two-hour dinner on Saturday evening, enjoying some great oysters and a variety of seafood. Wine service and help was excellent. Great waiter (he had served us on a previous visit): perfect service. We loved the choice of music and the fact that it is in the background, not interfering with our conversation but a lovely part of the ambiance. We'll be back."

"Had excellent grouper during a weeknight dinner. Not many people there. They need to publicize themselves more! I met a friend from Bloomington there. She had never heard of or seen the place and she lives two miles from there! I had been to the one in Wayzata, so knew of it. I think they're depending on people from the western suburbs to go to the one in Bloomington, which doesn't make sense. The food was quite good, the service was good, etc. Hope it stays around!"

"No entrees particularly appealed to me so I decided to have a salad and the appetizer crab cakes. Fifteen minutes after ordering I was told they were out of crab cakes. This is at 7:00 on a Saturday night in a not even close to full restaurant. I ordered the salmon and asked for it grilled, not blackened. It was pretty over-cooked with most of the bottom being blackened by grill marks. My friend and I each had the beet salad. She ordered hers without the goat cheese and I mentioned to our server that I would take her goat cheese on mine. I bet there wasn't even a teaspoon of tiny goat cheese crumbles on mine. Hardly enough worth mentioning, so I know they did not give me any extra. Pretty skimpy for such a pricey restaurant."

"This was my first time eating at Blue Point Restaurant in Bloomington. I dined with one other person. We each had the Fish & Chips. The fish had a light coating of batter and was very fresh, and the chips were top notch - fresh cut & double fried. We also had a beet salad and the crab cakes, which had a fair amount of crab in them. Overall the food was really good. Our only complaint was that the fish in the fish & chips seemed like it needed to be cooked slightly longer and could have used a little bit sturdier batter to coat it. Usually when you eat fish & chips, the fish is cooked all of the way through, but our fish seemed to barely be cooked to the center."
