Bluefin
On any given night, you’ll likely find a celebration or two underway at this spacious downtown sushi lounge. Much of the restaurant’s seating is designed for large groups, and there’s even a unique private room where guests sit on floor pillows. Low blue lighting gives the place a soothing vibe. The menu offers treats for sushi aficionados, such as the Majik Mushroom roll (Kobe beef with warm truffle butter and mushroom salt) or the more traditional Hama-Kimchee (yellowtail topped with spicy kimchi). But picky kids (and the sushi-phobic) can find plenty to eat on the entrée menu, which features flatbreads, Steaks, and multiple seafood options. Bluefin also offers several brands of saké (both hot and cold) and a bar that serves food an hour after the restaurant side has closed.

"Bluefin's menu includes something for everyone. Fish, chicken, or sushi. My wife is a vegetarian and the veggie roll sushi is her favorite. We had a table of 4 and the others had fish, sushi and chicken. This is one of my favorite restaurants in memphis."

"My visit have always been positive and this one was no exception.
The service was great, the service was great, and the scene was nice and relaxing. We didn't wait long on our orders at all. Were almost immediately served after the sushi chefs were given our orders and made them on the spot. We sat in front of the sushi bar and the preparation was swift but precise."

"The restaurant was rather noisy but it may have been because there were a bunch of younger people who looked like they were dressed for prom. The service was also quite slow. I originally ordered a burger to be told 20 minutes later that they were out and had to pick something else. The chicken entree I ordered was incredibly salty but still edible ( the chicken itself was good but the sides were almost inedible). However the duck egg rolls were phenomenal and my boyfriend really enjoyed the sushi. Plus the place reminded me of the inside of a boat which was cool."

"We discovered Bluefin on the last night of our vacation. We had the first seating on a Sunday evening which was reflected in the quiet atmosphere and the sparse number of diners. There were so many things on the menu we wanted to try... My favorites included the chargrilled oysters,the fresh scallops with warm truffle butter, scallions and mushroom salt,and the M.P.D. roll. Our waiter was very helpful and the service was prompt. I would love to go back to this restaurant if I am in Memphis again."

"Service was poor, waitress was unattentive. Waited 10 minutes for service after being seated. Waited 20 minutes for smoked salmon sashimi after our first sushi roll came out. Ordered the surf and turf, the steak medium rare. It came out medium well. I would've sent it back but the waitress didn't return to check on us. Food was good, but the parsley potatoes were over salted by a lot.
There is Better sushi in Memphis, and better food on Main st. An average to fair restaurant experience. Walk down the street and go to Local instead."

"This was the worst experience we have had at a relatively upscale restaurant. We waited 12 minutes after the hostess seated us and no one came to our table. When we asked what we supposed was a manager, he said he would check on it. Approximately 5 minutes later, a server came to our table and said there was a mix-up in who was responsible for our table, but she would be waiting on us. She made it a point to say that she was not "our" server. She got our salad order wrong and througout our dinner, only came to check on us twice (and that included giving us the check). The atmosphere of service seemed like they were doing us a favor waiting on us - the most unfriendly staff we have seen. In addition, the noise level was just plain loud."

"We have been dining at Blue Fin for around 8 years. It was where I first tried sushi. Over the years they have gone downhill. I don't mind paying a lot of money for great food, however this was not the case recently. I ordered a spicy shrimp roll and there were several pieces that had no shrimp and the parts that did were tiny. Everyone that got rolls with shrimp as the feature had the same issue. I spoke to the waitress about it assuming she would tell the manager, but he never came by. I also sent a tweet and no one responded. This is going to be our last time dining here. If I'm going to pay over $100 for a bill I want my food to be amazing. Save your money and find a different sushi place. That's what I'm going to do."

"I've eaten at Bluefin several times in the past with great enjoyment. It had been a year or more since the last time I'd eaten there. So I thought it would be a great place for my fiance and I to celebrate Valentine's Day.
However, I can't say anything particularly good about this visit. The food was bland at best. We ordered several different sushi rolls that all ended up tasting about the same. One had a hint of spice to it, one had a hint of cream cheese to it, and the last just had no flavor at all; extremely disappointing. Moreover, the server was rushing us throughout the meal. "The shrimp appetizer and salmon entree had too much butter sauce on the plates. The oyster appetizer and scallop entree were excellent. We enjoyed our experience and plan to return to try the sushi. This is a good pre-game or theater venue."

"Our dinner experience was very nice!! The music was odd. Long runs of a drum or something beating which to me is not dinning music. We would have preferred to listen to some Jazz or something along that line instead of what was play around 6 to 8pm on Friday night 2/8. Other than the music not being a dinning type we really enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere!! Oh the other thing was one of the chairs at our table had a very bad wobble or rocking motion."

"I took a group of 6 people for dinner. The only negative was that we were put into a booth which I find never to be a great fit for a group. Other than that it was a spectacular dinner. I loved that great sushi was available, but other food as well since not everyone in the group wanted sushi. The food was fantastic and the service was perfect. Very polite and attentive without being bothersome. Not an easy balance to strike. I would highly recommend Bluefin."

"Sushi was great tonight, server forgot about the order if endame until I asked. Service was very slow. Usually the soup is a star in the menu, however the Pork Dumpling Soup failed to deliver."

"This is one of my favorite restaurants. Food is always great! Waitress was delightful, and knowledgeable about the sake. We were going to the Orpheum, and we were later than we had hoped to arrive downtown. She accommodated our time frame. I made OUR reservation for two, but we ran into 2 friends in the lobby, and the hostess rearranged both of our reservations to allow us to all sit together. As we were leaving, we ran into two more friends who had also chosen to eat here before going to the Orpheum. Outstanding experience! Thanks!!"
