"Ate at Vinci's before going to Steppenwolf Theater a few steps away. Eggplant was very tasty starter with fresh bread. Farfalle with Duck was delicious. My sister's scallops were tender and good. We ate outside since it was balmy and it felt like a outside venue in Rome,"

"Such a wonderful experience! Great food, and lots of options for gluten-free folks. It's worth mentioning that these options are exceptional, rather then the typical mediocre gf substitutes to dishes that are on the regular menu, like many restaurants do. They have a separate menu, with great variety, and fantastic dishes. I would recommend Vinci to anyone, whether or not they have special dietary requirements. Enjoy!"

"Place was fairly busy, and they had a big group there that night, but they were well stffed and quite efficient. We had not been there for some time and were delighted that the food remained excellent. Clyde the bartender deserves special mention as he was attentive and affable despite being quite busy behind the bar.
Great too if you are going to the Steppenwolf Theater just down the street. They will even hold your "doggie bags" for you until the show letws out.
Would heartily recommend checking this charming neighborhood place out if you have not been there yet."

"A friend and I decided to try out Vinci because of Groupon, and I'm so glad we did. The wait staff was super friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. The wine menu had plenty of choices, and the one we chose was perfect. We had a little booth near the exit to the outside area, and it was perfect. It was very secluded, and we were able to stay for around 3 and 1/2 hours without any problem visiting with each other and being attended to (when appropriate) by the staff. There was no rush to get out, and it was a superbly relaxing evening."

"Going here made a special day even more special. Service was outstanding, never had to ask for anything, they can read your mind!
The guys had pork chops, I had to stop them from licking their plates! The grilled shrimp kabob was tender and just the right seasoning. Each of the side dishes were just as good as the main entree. The scallops were awesome. Wish I had room for dessert. I highly suggest Vinci's, you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to go back again"

"Vinci is our neighborhood go-to spot for a nice evening or a family special occasion and they never disappoint. Somehow they keep it fresh and focused. Our most recent meal was a stand out, everything was cooked to perfection, came out hot and fresh. The flavors come through clearly but never overwhelm, the sauces are seriously layered with taste but never heavy. This last time our server was new but knew the menu and wine list thoroughly and did a stand out job. What can I say, having Vinci in the neighborhood creates a serious disincentive to go looking elsewhere."

"Everything was great, but especially the service. We thought half of our party wasn't going to make it due to traffic and a tight schedule before the show, so we ordered and began eating. Then the rest of our party showed up unexpectedly and our waiter managed to speed up their meals and slow down ours so we could all have a nice relaxing meal together before the show. He was like magic."

"My fiance and I thoroughly enjoyed our evening the other night. It was quiet (a Tuesday night) the setting was perfect for intimate conversation while dining. "Four of us had dinner at Vinci before going to the Royal George on a recent Saturday night. Not only i the restaurant itself charming but the food was incredible. As a lover of mushroom risotto, i can honestly state that their porcini, asparagus and duck risotto was the most delicious risotto i even tasted. I left not a morsel. Everyone else was equally satisfied. And the bread is fresh baked and way too good! Highly recommend Vinci for either before theater or anytime."

"On my recent visit to Vinci - a favorite Lincoln Park spot close to theatres and shops - I ntoiced the great service the waitstaff provided. They were attentive without being intrusive, made good suggestions, and adapted perfectly to the pace of my chatty meal with a friend. The waiter asked upfront if we were going to the theater and made sure we were on time. "I haven't been in Vinci in years although I live around the corner. Had a nice meal - a fresh, simple romaine salad with creamy dressing. I liked the fact that the salad had lots of dressing but I suspect some would not. The pasta with ragu sauce was thick and tasty. The sauce complemented the fresh pasta. The ambience, service and food is tailored made for its older patrons - nothing too inventive, too spicy or too unusual - just very main stream. Once the theatre crowd left, the place was deserted. "I went several times in the 90s and thought the food was terrific, but somehow didn't get back till recently (3/19/13). This time all the food just seemed tired. It tasted fine, but not better. For instance, I had the hen. In the 90s, the skin was golden and crispy. Now it was gray and flabby. The meat was cooked and tasted fine, but without the crispy skin the whole dish was just that: it was just fine, not good, not terrific, fine.

"My girlfriend and I met another couple there who are good friends. No wait, everything was set, service was very good without being overbearing! Food was excellent, other then the pizza which the comment was pretty good. Ambience is great, we could hear each other talking. "Excellent food and service. A bit pricey compared to other similar restaurants.A nice toch: we were going to the theater a block away and we had leftovers. So they put them in a bag,marked our name and held it for us at the bar to pick up after the show. So often we have to waste what we didn't eat because we're not going right home."
