"Coach Insignia for an evening meal was a great experience! Service was prompt and excellent, the menu offered an interesting variety of appealing options, and the view and ambiance was just spot-on. I ordered the stuffed quail while my girlfriend ordered the wasabi-crusted salmon. We finished the meal off with the white chocolate cheesecake. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious! Would definitely return and recommend."

"We heard about the awesome view so we went for a romantic dinner but was disappointed when we were seated on a booth where the view was obstructed with a wall. We proceed to ask to be seated elsewhere with a nice view since we notice open table with great view are available but the receptionist did not pay attention much since she sat us again in a booth with full table in front of us so our view was not as spectacular as we imagine although food and our waitress was great."

"A little pricey, but worth it! Breathtaking view! Friendly staff. Great filet w/smoked bleu cheese! Sparkling red wine, fantastic! Highly recommend the lobster corn dogs! Could barely hear the music, and there was a toddler running around, climbing onto the window ledge. Also a baby fussing at the next table. Not a deal breaker for me, but I love kids!"

"Overall okay experience. My fiance & friends of ours made reservations for a double date at Coach Insignia on April 26th. As a pleasant surprise to us when we arrived, it also happened to be a part of Detroit Restaurant Week. The food was delicious, our server (can't recall his name) was polite & made good suggestions but it took him awhile to get around to our table and check on us in between courses. Now on to the BIG disappointment-- there happened to be a "Sweet 16" birthday party that night in a "private room" just a few tables away from where we were seated. They allowed the music to play SO loud that is resonated throughout the entire restaurant & actually made it difficult for the 4 us to even carry on a conversation."

"This was the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary. Coach insignia did their best to reserve a river view table. They did not disappoint. The staff was very kind and knowledgable. Our waiter was excellent. This is the type of restaurant where knowledge of wine can be very handy. Unfortunately, I am a beer guy. No fear, our waiter recommended an excellent beer for my meal. This was my first time at Coach Insignia, thanks to Restaurant Week, but it will no be our last. Thank you for making a memorable evening for my wife and me."

"Coach is one of our favorite restaurants of all time. The view is unmatched in Detroit - absolutely beautiful. The wine list is overwhelming... the service is always excellent... and the steaks are delicious! We will use any excuse to travel downtown to enjoy this dining experience - a special occasion, an anniversary or even an overdue date night. "I was very pleased with the service (Justin was an AWESOME server), the food (filets were grilled to perfection!) and of course, the view. My only complaint was the 18% gratuity that was automatically added to our bill. We ordered off the Detroit Restaurant Week menu, so I don't know if the "regular" menu has the same surcharge. It was stated on the menu (in very fine print) and our server did mention it when he brought the bill. I would have left the same gratuity anyway, but thought it was in poor taste to automatically tag it on to the final tab."

"We found the food less that we expected given this much desired location of this restaurant. The Diver Scallops and the bread pudding desert was dry. Perhaps if there was a sauce to go over the bread pudding it would have been better. Although short ribs are expected to have some fat, this entree had far too much."

"While the food was great (love the lobster corndog), the service wasn’t that great:1) The greeter at the elevator didn’t really look like she worked at Coach2) Service was slow – example: waited at least 10 minutes for a children’s menu3) Was surprised to see that a 19% gratuity was included – was only in a group of 54) And a question about parking – I did get a $10 sticker put on my valet ticket, but yet was charged $10 for parking – I was not the only person last night to ask about this – really feel that one of us is getting ripped off by whoever is running the parking deal as the rates clearly state that parking would be $10.I had been to Coach in January and had a great experience, last night was just so-so based on the s"

"My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there and had a fabulous time. We had a late reservation and we never felt rushed to leave. We went off of their Detroit Restaurant Week menu and the food was incredible. The waiter took time to show us the view and take pictures of us. We will definitely be back and have been recommending Coach Insignia to everyone we know."

"Although we booked our dinner for restaurant week a little late, we had hoped having a reservation still met something. It did not. We arrived a few min prior to our 8:15PM reservation than sat at the bar for 30 min before we were seated. Once seated, we waited another 15 min before our waiter came to our table. Even though our food was very good, it was hard to overcome the fact that we were eating dinner at 10pm on a Monday night. I do understand that restaurant week creates a high demand, but I would expect a restaurant like this to be prepared for it."

"I have to say I was incredibly disappointed with my experience. I have always wanted to try Coach Insignia. We decided to go during Detroit Restaurant Week. Upon sitting at our table the waitress came to the table, she never introduced herself and she complained about being there on a Sunday. Apparently Coach Insignia is not open on Sundays normally. She mentioned she was missing a television show. We ordered dinner with the wine flight and we got a side of lobster macaroni and cheese. The food was good but nothing to rave about. The second wine pairing arrived and the waitress stated she is giving me a different wine because she didn't think the listed wine was good. To top off my experience 19% gratuity was added for 2 people."

"The service right from the beginning at 4:30 when I called was bad. Went to make a reservation and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. While on hold I was surfing the web and saw I could make a reservation on-line so I did for 7:30. When she came back on the phone she advised they were booked solid. I told her I just made a reservation and she was like OK, well come in then... I get there at 7:15 and the elevator hostess tried to call them 6 times to send me up - they never answered the phone. She finally just sent us up. We get to the hostess desk in the restaurant and they tell me that I will be seated shortly, so my fellow guest and I stand back and wait, and wait and wait."

"Was really excited to try this place since had heard so many great things! The staff seems overall very poorly managed- I was called 3 times to "confirm my reservation" when I already had the first time. We came an hour early to enjoy martinis at the bar, but was never served. After waiting 20 mins, we got up and asked a few different staff members who were unapologetic and just said "a server should come around." After 45 mins and another 10 mins waiting at the bar itself we finally had one round of cocktails.
After being seated, our server for dinner was polite but very awkward. While the ambiance is gorgeous, and the food was good (but nothing to rave about), I did not have the experience I was hoping for."
